Removing inappropriate materials from a timber frame part 1

As part of a complex timber frame building repair in 2020 100s of kilos of junk and rotten timber were removed from the frame prior to repairs. This is tie beam to Queen post abs a completely failed joint that didn’t look too bad prior to investigation.

It was some horrific filler. It’s rock hard but very light.

@@nickjones3222 yes. It was tired when it was put in but some of the patches were full depth with moisture trapped behind this stuff
