    Pretty nifty idea. So I finally decided to make a garden Donald. It has been many, many years since I had a garden and I must say that watching your videos were partly involved in the motivation for making my garden. I used to live on a farm many years ago and I also worked the neighbour farms but as life changed and brought me to the city farming and gardening got worked out of me. Now I'm in a home with more land and circumstances, well, lets just say I need to grow food now.

    Wonderful people to deal with at Greenwellmfg. I ordered 2 sets and they came with one spreader bar and modified washers for 3 implements per set. Donald, they had only good things to say about you. Keep up the good work with your your videos. They work as advertised and i could not be more happy. I now look forward to changing implements!

    I love your videos, Donald. I like learning things like how much work it takes to run a farm and use the equipment I never new existed. I hope these companies send you their merchandise to test for them so they can get a good, honest recommendation as to how well their products work. I'm glad you are back!

    I finally broke down and spent the money on a set of Pat's Easy Change hitches. With my bad back and knees I had started to dread changing out implements. My first attempt at using the Harbor Freight quick hitch was unsuccessful since most of my equipment is not standard width.
    Today I was able to switch between 3 different pieces of equipment and didn't even break a sweat.
    Thanks Donald for the super easy installation instructions !!

      Unless you’re willing to make adjustment with a touch and welding machine to your equipment Pat’s is the way to go. Still have to get off the tractor to hook the top link but that’s not a big deal….Donald

    Thank you for taking the time to show and demonstrate how to put on and use.
    I'm hoping that they make on for my older tractor. 1953 T30 Fargosn tractor.
    I have 5 acres that I farm.
    I used to disk it. But I Wached you're video on the 6 foot rear tines tiller attachment.
    I bought one and your 100 % wright. It's been on the the best investment.
    thank you for all your help and advice and your time. You have been such a great help to my family. I have a disabled son and one of his love's is the tractor and oh yeah the dirt. thank you and please keep up the good work and advice.

    Another option for a quick hitch is this. If your tractor has extendable lower arms, remove these ends and replace them with solid steel extensions with a hook similar to the quick hitches. This has several advantages over any of the various quick hitches. 1- Cheaper, 2- This does not add 4" to your lower arms so no 3-pt lifting reduction, 3- Your existing PTO shaft works as before. If for some odd reason, this solid hook extension doesn't work on a particular implement, then the OEM ball swivel extension can be replaced to original status in just a few minutes.
    If your lower arms don't have extendable arms, it would not be difficult to cut off each ball swivel with a few inches of arm and then make a surround to reattach it (similar to the extended arm style). Then make a solid steel extension with a hook as above. This allows you to have the three advantages stated above.
    If you have both Class 1 and Class 2 implements you might find it advantageous to make two sets of solid arms so no bushings are required. I cut the new 11" solid extensions in two pieces because the hook end needs to be rotated slightly and angled toward the center, similar to the original swivel extensions. Slide the forward section into the arm extension receiver and weld the rear section (the piece with the hook) so it is parallel to the tractor frame and vertical. One pin will secure it in place. For my Class 2 hitch- Steel cost for the 4 pieces 1" thick, cut at machine shop with a laser CNC= $110 CAD. About $40 more if you need to hire a welder.
    Enjoy changing implements. ☻

    Donald - Thank you for this video. On your recommendation, I purchased a set for my tractor. It works great. Yesterday, I helped my neighbor pull tree stumps. We used heavy chain and a working bar. I thought I would make sure these held up to heavy work. There were some big tap roots that needed to be cut, so the pulling wasn't easy, but the hitch held up and when I was done, it was just a quick wink of an eye and I had my box blade mounted once again. A real good system. Thanks again for sharing it with us.

    Wilford Brimley does a good job showing us these Pat's hitches. Thanks for the video.
    But, Wilford, I think the swing-in latch is mostly for holding the main latch in the LOCKED position, not the open position (as you show in the last seconds of yoru demo). Done my way, your implements will slide in and auto-latch when you raise the lift arms.

    • @webcajun
      @webcajun  10 років тому

      The reason I do it that way is in case only one side latched and the other didn’t (because I wasn’t lined up just right). I’d have to get off the tractor, unlatch that side and get back on to realign and try again. Got to get off anyway to hook the top link so it’s really not an extra step. Whatever works best for you is the way to go……Donald

    I ordered a cheaper Quick Hitch from Harbor Freight. But, after reading about the added things I had to get in order to make it fit on different implements I re watched your video. The obvious better quality and the made in USA factor caused me to cancel the HF order and go with this instead. I have a few 3pt implements and a small Yanmar 4wd tractor. Not a big time farmer but defiantly getting too old to wrestle stuff onto the hitch. Good video.

    Seems like a wonderful idea. One inescapable fact is that it lengthens the lift arms and thus reduces the weight of the implement that can be lifted. Plus heavy implements will more easily cause the front wheels to lift off the ground. My CAT 1 tractor has 250 pounds of front weights and I do not wish to add more.

    • @webcajun
      @webcajun  7 років тому

      My tractor has a front end loader so I never experienced that problem.....Donald

    • @MrCountrycuz
      @MrCountrycuz 7 років тому

      lengthening the lift arms increases the weight of any implement from the tractors perspective. This is a benefit for tractors with front end loaders where you need as much weight as possible on the back especially on tractors that have part time front wheel drive like my 2305. I have learned the hard way what using a front end loader with not enough weight on the rear will do to the front end drive gears and bearings. Weights on the wheels have no effect on reducing weight on the front wheels either but can reduce the need for using the front wheel drive.

    Being that the Easy Change System "extends" the lift arms, how does this affect shorter PTO shafts on smaller Cat. 1 implements and also are you still able to lift the 3 pt. hitch all the way up without each half of the PTO shaft coming apart?? I already can't raise the tiller all the way up with the PTO engaged because the shaft makes too much noise. Thanks

    • @webcajun
      @webcajun  10 років тому

      I have a 4 inch pto extension on the tractor so it’s not a problem. Mine makes the same noise when lifted all the way up, I believe it’s because the U-Joints are at too great an angle. Either turn the pto off or don’t lift so high. :-) ....Donald

    Be AWARE that these quick hitches move your implements back 3-4 inches. Which means it stretches your DRIVE SHAFT that much as well. You will DESTROY your driveshaft if you're not careful. There is a PTO adaptor that helps with this problem and will save your drive shaft. Well worth the average proce of $26
    Not as easy to hook up, but a breeze to unhook !!!!

    • @dnsmithnc
      @dnsmithnc 10 років тому

      685jewel I used the product off and on for several years. I did not find it quicker or safer. First I had to adapt some of my equipment to fit because the device is so bulky. That meant grinding away a bit of bracing or welding. Secondly, implements would fall off because of the bent washer design and the way the implement was held did not make for a good grip. Next, the bolts would come loose holding the device on despite hard tightening. In addition, the system requires you too extend your PTO shaft making it too short on some occasions. Lastly, you will not find it as easy to back up and hitch your equipment as it has been made to appear here. Firstly, alignment is still a problem as with the old system though perhaps a little easier. In addition, You still have to get off your tractor, flip a couple of levers on the PEC, hook up your top link, attach your PTO and so on. Some people might like it but, I would rather hitch my equipment the old way rather than use that contraption. When my equipment is attached the old way, it is on more securely and not likely to fall off as it has several times using the PEC. If you have the money, there are ,other systems that actually work. such as the Delta System.

    I had one of these hitches and found it to be a total waste of money. I gave it a fair chance but Implements often had to be ground around their support braces to fit. The worse problem would be that Implements would often come loose and fall off usually on one side causing a real mess. Look for those reviews on tractorforum and tractorbynet before buying. Now, you will find some good reviews such as what seems to be the case here but, ask yourself, why aren't they all good reviews. It amazes me that you find any. In addition, do you think this guy just backed up perfectly to this implement the first time? Not likely. I found this product made implement change harder and more dangerous overall.

    • @webcajun
      @webcajun  10 років тому

      This will be my 4th maybe 5th year using these and they’ve worked fine for me. Backing up to the tool sometimes takes me two tries but most times I can line up in just one. As for the product being dangerous I don’t see it, may be the operator……Donald
