I have a KitchenAid K5 made by Hobart purchased around 1970. Unlike the new KitchenAids made by Whirlpool, my Hobart KitchenAid still runs like a new machine. I purchased a Hobart N50 around 5 years ago and can offer an unbiased comparison between the two machines. The KitchenAid has a more powerful motor than the N50 but does not perform well at low speeds. This is because the KitchenAid does not have a shiftable transmission like the Hobart N50. Because it only has one gear ratio between the motor and the beater, the motor must run slower to allow the beater to run slower. When the motor runs slower the torque decreases; which is why a KitchenAid mixer struggles and often stalls when kneading bread dough. Because of the shiftable transmission in the Hobart N50, when it is shifted to a slow speed, the motor RPM remains the same and the torque increases. This makes it better for slow beater speed applications like kneading heavy load doughs and batters. When mixing light batters, cake icings, and whipping eggs or cream at higher RPMs, both mixers perform about the same.
Here are some shots of my kitchen showing a Globe SP8 and the Hobart N50 under the paper towel rack.

I bought your stainless steel pastry cutter beater for the N50 a couple of weeks ago. I liked it so much I ordered your stainless steel dough hook yesterday. When that arrives I will order your stainless steel paddle beater. The attachments that came with the N50 are aluminum and are oxidizing. I have an allergy to aluminum and don't want aluminum oxide in my food so I won't be using the mixer until the other stainless steel beaters arrive.

Love it built like a tank quieter then the Hobart and very powerful I like the fact that you can raise the head instead of lowering the bowl, the attachments are actually better built then the Hobart believe it or not and I love a Hobart so that's no small statement

I actually like the Hobart N50 better than kitchenaid because instead of speeding up the motor, it uses different gears.

The video would have been better without the eerie music. Part of the fun is the natural sounds from the mixer and the dough being formed

Thank you for your feedback. But the noise was not very pleasant to hear. Too loud! And we like the music.

@@superdoughhook You know what, I guess youre right. Not everyone enjoys the mixing sounds like I do. I just had a question. Is that dough hook from the 7qt kitchenaid? Does it bang on the bowl? Is it a good replacement?

@@luisbravo4008 The JP10 and the JP10A are specially produced for the Hobart N50 and won't bang on the bowl.
By the way, did you know that the original Kitchenaid was a Hobart? As it was their smallest machine, they named it their kitchen aid and that is how the brand name came into existente.
