Yeah, I had that earworm, so I searched through a bunch of youtube 'Top x# of Classical pieces everybody knows but not the title', and when I got to this one, this was it! Allegro con brio, right at the beginning!
just watched the last ep and now i cant get this out of my head i wish there was a second season. i hate that feeling after you finish a show and your left empty inside for some reason
I have heard many versions of it and I love this one, perfect pace, perfect balance of the sound from strings and brass. Great job from Christian Thielemann and Wiener Philharmoniker! A conductor's charisma is in the music, not his appearance and how he moves about. Most of his work has been done when he rehearsed with the whole team. The music we hear is the final result of his decision of the interpretation executed through the skills of the whole orchestra, just like a director for a movie.

I listened to another recording of this by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and was almost embarrassed for the brass because it was so pitchy. This orchestra is dead on the pitch and it was such a joy to listen to and not have to grind my teeth. Of course being in Musikverein doesn't hurt any. That hall is a delight to perform in. Such phenomenal acoustics, and designed without the aid of modern engineering.
This symphony shows the greatness of Beethoven; I hear the first time in my early childhood and today 60 years later it makes me jump of emotion.
It actually changes the frequency vibration of listening humans to perfect balance.
