This woman is an incredible human being. "Prayers For Bobby" is a MUST SEE!....Especially if you're going through a similar situation....just be prepared to cry!
This woman is incredible and a total delight! She doesn't even seem like a "typical celebrity" she is so down to earth and put together, this movie was so sad! You can tell she is moved by the story she started to get upset.....
A friend of mine happened to be on a flight with her, and he mentioned how much of a fan he was of this movie (as am I). She responded how nice to be approached by a fan for movies other than what she's well known for. Every time I watch Prayers for Bobby it's like I'm watching it for the first time, and it brings me to tears every time. It's very cathartic.
Rajesh Poojary Well, they already did, otherwise the movie should not have been made in the first place. I think that you make the mistake that you think that the hetero world is homogeneous. (and yes, that is a wordplay!)
I do not agree with you completely.. der are straight people out der will support you when they know ur sexuality .. but will make gay jokes with der straight friends.
Seeing this almost 10 years later, still relevant, still powerful. It's just so sad to see a nation comprised of so many cultures, religions, and personalities fall so far in such a short amount of time.
It makes me mad. Whatever she felt about homosexuality is one thing but it's another thing when she chose to reject Bobby. She could of at least felt "Well I don't like the fact he's gay but I won't reject him. She could of also figured that maybe it couldn't be helped no matter what.
I Cried to this move as well cause I have a mother who is Very Catholic I thought she was going to kick me out, Was the hardest day of my life when I came out to her cause I would always cry inside cause I felt like I was letting her down, When I did told her I said to her at the end I understand if you want me out of the house. She was all like why would I want that? You are my son I love you for who you are Gay or Str8 I love you and God loves you if your gay so be it But there is no way I will let you go out of my life. I broke down right in front of her she Told me it will all be ok then she was all like hmmm I still want Grand children and we both laughed, :)
watching sigourney talks about the movie is like watchiing the real mother of bobby speaks up... she is indeed passionate and filled with emotions when she speaks here... Great actress one of a kind... she felt the role as if she really lost Bobby...
UGH! We are ALL people, there is NOTHING wrong with being different! Let's just accept each other and move on! Please?! As a straight woman with gay friends...I love and accept all of you!!!
I can't help but to cry my eyes out whenever I watch the scene where Mary stands before the council and says "a child is listening"..it reminds me when Elton John was coming to visit Egypt and my parents were like Damn that queer, they all should be put to death :L It killed me inside....
Thank you Sigourney Weaver. So many of our stories told and illustrated through this breath taking film. Hopefully so many others will see this message through the tears that we all shed for those who are in need of someone to 'listen'...
I am just now watching this. And fill so grateful that this woman is fully supportive of the LGBTQ community. It's important to be accepted and loved. We just want to live.
Just watched it and it utterly destroyed me. The hatred I felt for the mother that in the end turned into forgiveness. It was such a surreal experience.
Sigourney's performance in this movie was absolutely spectacular. She brought out the best and the worst of Mary Griffith and honestly it's some of the best acting I've ever seen in my life. She's truly amazing.
I just finished watching this movie, and I still have tears in my eyes. It was a beautiful and powerful and sad movie that I think everyone should watch, specially if they have trouble either coming out or accepting someone they know and love for what they are. I love that actors are doing more and more movies like this.
A movie that every parent should watch, I think it should be shown in school because it will make ppl think before the bully some young gay boy in taking his life. So proud of Sigourney for this role. Aliens and prayers for Bobby are my favorite films of herself. So touching and sad
I love Sigourney Weaver even more after this interview...you can tell she's an advocate of LGBT rights and gay youth...and that she's so proud of this movie.
I love Signourney Weaver! Such a great actress and person. I watched the film awhile ago, but I remember it being quite powerful. I found it so tragic that he took his life (like so many others from religious families). I also found it more tragic that it was his death that propelled her to finally accept him posthumously.
My god ! How much times did i cry watching this beautiful movie. For many of lgbt movies, this one is the best. And sigourney, thank you so much to be so human, you made me cry during your interview. ♥️
We all would to have deeply respect for this woman.I say this, not only because she is my idol, I say this because, evry word she say yet, IS the truth. the big mother bless you Sigourney. greets from me.13 years from germany.
My dad passed away almost 9 years ago. He seemed like it never really mattered to him that much that I was gay. My mom was the worst. Over the Christmas holidays a month ago my mom told me that she believed God loved me, whether I am gay or straight she believes I am going to Heaven. What a change of heart. Its a miracle.
I really adored her being an actress...it was kinda different seeing her in the movie(i know she is just playing her role obviously)but watching her in this show saying powerful words that really influence people to open up their minds is extremely touching...All people must see Prayers for Bobby...:)#Love and Acceptance
I never cried at a movie so hard in my life than I did for prayers for Bobbie. It is so good and she is amazing. I beg everyone see the movie your views about life and people will change also you will cry.
Sigourney has gone up in my estamations, what an amazing woman, if only more people would try and see things as she has with this amazingly powerful film. I hope Bobby, wherever he is can see how amazing his story is and healing for others I hope.
I cried so much... My life is a lot like a pre-coming out portion to Bobby's life. I'm still closeted, and its tearing me up on the inside because I know that's exactly how my parents are going to treat me when they find out...
Sigourney deserves more than a tiny little figurine. as a straight guy, with straight friends, we were watching this lately, and began to hug each other crying. what an amazing film.
When I hear of parents who shun, reject or cast out their kids because they are LGBTQ+, my heart breaks. Especially, since my parents accepted me the very day I came out. And not just me but my older brothers and younger sister. I was lucky to have had such an accepting and supportive family but it's sad that many LGBTQ+ youths are not so lucky. It's true that even if the world is against you, when you have a family that has your back, you are stronger and better equipped to face up to the bullying. I know I was.
I think this movie...& this interview made me LOVE Sigourney Weaver MORE...she stands up for the GLBT community...and is so eloquent and emotional. She's just a beautiful woman.
OMG... this movie changed my life. My mom refused to accept the fact. My dad did as well. I was scorned and even had to move out for a while just until they could come to terms with it. But they didn't. It would be several years, not bad ones, but not close ones like we used to be, later before my mom called me up at 11 pm. I immediately thought something was terribly wrong. She was crying and I'm begging her to tell me why. She asks "Have you ever heard of the movie "Prayers For Bobby" on Lifetime?" I hadn't at the time, but she begged me to watch it. I bought the DVD and LOVE it. It wasn't until I watched it that I realized that was my moms way of accepting it. I can NOT get through the movie to this day without a full on UGLY CRY LOL. But THANK YOU to the every single person that brought this movie to the screen. It did do exactly what you wanted it to do, at least, for me and I will forever be grateful.
I find the most moving scene of the movie the scene where Mary, the mother, goes to the curch and finally realises, after all that has happend, that she felt her son was diffrent from the moment of conception and that there was nothing wrong with her son to begin with, because God intended it this way. She plays it so well and it touched my heart. I shed a tear :')
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." -- Steven Weinberg
With all due respect to Mr Weinberg, it's not religion that's the problem, it's man's misuse and misunderstanding (sometimes willfully) of religion. I say that as a gay Christian of 46 years to whom God means everything and whose faith is the central part of my life.
@@seamus1956 With all due respect LMFAO.. how do you misuse a passage in scripture that plainly says same-sex relationships are an abomination. Wake the fuck up already!
saw prayers for bobby after I saw her HRC ally for equality award speech ( and thanks to youtube for having it available to view ) that was a good thing this movie needed to be seen by everyone ..
Inlove Sigourney Weaver and this movie. I feel very strongly about the respect of peoples gender, sexuality, and identity and this film was one of the many things that opened my eyes to the real world. I was once a kid who was also the son of church goer, and went to church every sunday but my mind was closed to the lgbtq community and I feel like that is just wrong and more people especially, regardless if they're religious need to respect and get along with the core values of many people who are very real.
She was a bad ass in Aliens, saving her Marines... Now she's still bad ass... Saving the gay people. Keep the rainbow flag flying high! Viva la revolucion!
She's a huge movie star who did a Lifetime movie for an amazing reason. She is truly a class act.
This woman is an incredible human being. "Prayers For Bobby" is a MUST SEE!....Especially if you're going through a similar situation....just be prepared to cry!

God bless this wonderful woman!
Even watching this makes me cry!!! That movie makes me so emotional.
I cry every time and I'm not even emotional
YES YOU HAVE A REASON :) HIIII IM FROM MEXICO CITY BUT LIVE IN CANCUN :) WHATS IS YOUR NAME :) ???
Me too.
Why doesn't she have and oscar yet!? WHY!?!?
because it's a gay movie....
Its about her acting work, not about the film.
Yes, she did a wonderful job
but this straight dominated world will never support such movies..
Rajesh Poojary Well, they already did, otherwise the movie should not have been made in the first place.

Lex Bass me too . It's such a powerful movie
that scene of Mary the mother and Bobby saying you dont have a son is chilling and brings me to tears.
I agree, every part of this movie brought to tears tho.

i cried a LOT when i saw that.
Today i saw again and cried!
Seriously, Sigourney Weaver is just an amazing woman.
I know. So sad. It's extremely sad that her son had to commit suicide in order for her to see that God meant for him to be the way he was.
Thank You Sigourney Weaver for standing up for the LBGT Community and pushing the point that God truely loves us all for who we are:)
She's amazing. No words can describe just how amazing she really is. It's too hard to even try to explain. She is a goddess!
lovely person
I love Sigourney Weaver she is an outstanding and beautiful actor who really cares for me and others as a gay person.
I cried the first time I saw this movie. I still do when I rewatch it today.
