  • In 2007 Bob Moore lead a team of enthusiasts trying to break the world altitude record for a single kite. They have been trying for several years. This first video shows how they flew a big kite to 10,466 ft. In 2011 they reached 14,121 ft, just short of the record.

For those viewers concerned with cutting half the tree down, it was the farmer, 50,000 acres and over 10 million trees. He used this trunk for firewood and home heating.

Our team broke the World record with a flight to 16,009 ft in 2014. This achievement has been recognised by Guinness World Record, The Australian Book Of records, the American Kitefliers Association and the Australian Kitefliers Society. See our 2014 UA-cam video.

Great dedication! Is there a video or website talking about the design of your winch?

We are planning to up the record to 25,000 ft for a single kite and then attempt the absolute record with a train of kites attached to one line. The target is 40,000 ft

Next on the agenda is the train record which stands at 31,955 ft set in 1919 by a German weather station at Lindenberg. They used 8 kites and about 15 km of steel wire. First step is a test flight with 4 medium DT deltas with a target of 20,000 ft. If successful then the record attempts will target 40,000 ft with a train of 4 big DT Deltas. it may be possible to improve the single line record using a larger kite and possibly reach 25,000 ft. There are several improvements to the kite design and construction planned.
