      Thank you, Gabe! I'm a sucker for a good wedge review and this was a good one! They're in my lofts, too! I've always thought us mere mortals don't need lofted wedges over 58° unless you put in the required practice each week.

    Got the 52* .90 and the 1.05 58* with my ts3s. Youre on point as usual. I think the original Maltby wedge, the TSW are a bit softer and traditional, but these are more forgiving and spin better due to the closer milled grooves. I added 6 grams (3 swing weights) to each head by changing weights to get them to play d6. Love getting my thoughts confirmed. Another great vid ty stu and Play through

    One of the best things about these wedges is the ability to order just the heads. It's not hard to change a golf head and you can have very economical fresh grooves for those that play more often.

    Not only does Maltby have wedge paks as several others have said you can select the custom shop option and get many more combos and most for less than $100 all built to spec. I just ordered a TS3 test 5 iron through the custom shop. Now to be sure it cost more per club than ordering a pak but I wanted a different shaft and it was still just $92 a club which is far better than the $200 to $220 a club from other major OEM manufacturers. And, yep, the TS3 is every bit as good as you said it was. Better feel and more distance than the loft difference alone would suggest over my old TE Forged for sure. I've played Maltby clubs off and on for two decades and never been disappointed. I've built my own clubs for a long time as a fun hobby and still tinker but when I can have Maltby do it for free and get the setup I want without the major OEM expense that's a deal in my book.

    Love that the screws can manipulate the weighting on these wedges.
    I've put a 1 gr lead tape strip in aproximately the same position of my wedges, as I tend to shut the face a little too much.
    I then don't use tape on P to 7, and a 1gr lead strip on my 6 to 4 Irons near the heel, as I tend to push those a little.
    It'll probably have to do with ball position but this helps me a lot coming straighter through the ball throughout the bag.

    I have a max milled in 56 and a tsw in 52. I like the extra grooves and heft to keep me more stable on the short shots, but prefer something a little smaller on fuller shots. Both are fantastic and both put sone great spin on the ball. I also have the ts1 im set as well, and 3,4,5 maltby hybrids. Alll great clubs, and if u live near Columbus like I do, you can go to golf works and swing any one of them and also sign up for a custom fitting. Best money ive ever spent.

    I'm a bit of a toe striker myself. Not that I can't hit the sweet spot, but that I prefer to stay well clear of the hosel, just in case. Clubs with the sweet spot about 1/2" out from the center would work better for me.

    • @LetsPlayThru

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  Місяць тому

      Is a DRM finish like a PVD?

    • @AZstu324
      @AZstu324 Місяць тому +4

      @@LetsPlayThruso the TSW wedges are their true "player's" profile wedges. I played them a little while back and they're really nice. DRM (diamondized raw metal) is similar to their DBM (black) that you experienced with the TE+ set. It's more of a pewter color but it's a "raw" finish that can oxidize over time without actually allowing for the metal to corrode and break down. I switched to the Max because I also like the full face grooves and they're just so easy to play. FYI in 2025 they have a whole new wedge line coming. This line up is much more extensive with more sole grinds and specialty options AND some lefty options too.

    • @jeremygricar4361

      I also play the tsw wedges. I'm not the most experienced wedge player so the leading edge does give me some grief on wet tight lies but overall they play well. 50 degree is very good with 75-90 percent shots. I've thought about switching to max milled but will wait to see what the new wedges are like.

    • @shmirginhymer1867

      @@AZstu324how is the groove durability on the newer maltby clubs. My first set of clubs was maltby forged wedges and Toski t-54 irons. The grooves wore down significantly faster than PXG or Titleist irons or wedges. Maltby clubs are very forgiving but with the hero discount I found the PXG clubs to be a better value than the older maltbys with the soft 8620 forged heads.

    • @AZstu324
      @AZstu324 19 днів тому

      @SasquatchTour I've been playing Maltby clubs for a good 6-7 years. I haven't had any issues with the grooves wearing out.. Disclaimer.. because of Maltby 's pricetag, and being a hobby club builder, I'm getting a new set every 1-2 years, or whenever they have a new release which is about that often.
      I know Maltby used to use 1020C on their forged heads but they moved exclusively to 1025 in the past couple years due to better durability. IMO 1020c is just too soft with little to no difference in feel to 1025c.
      These particular wedges are actually form-forged 8620c. Form forging is kind of like a hybrid of both casting and forging. The end result is a much more durable product but still retaining some good forged feel qualities. I don't see the grooves and microgrooves going anywhere between now and whenever I decide I just feel like new wedges. FYI, these have some really nice micro-milled grooves that swirl around the club face. So between the extra tighter face grooves and the microgrooves, these things spin like no other wedge I've played.
      Last note.. I did play a set of their original TS1s for almost 3 years. When I sold them, there was really only some bag chatter and scuffs on the soles. The faces were in near perfect shape and that's from 3 years of 1-2 rounds/week and a lot of practice.
      Hopefully that helped any 😁

      @SasquatchTour 19 днів тому +1

      @@AZstu324thanks for the reply. I build or at least reshaft all my clubs from woods, irons, to wedges. I was incorrect about the metal. My maltbys clubs were the 1020c metal I bought in 2005 which explains the durability issues you mentioned. I have never seen the grooves get completely rounded on any club after 2 years like the maltbys dd. If Golfworks solved the durability issue I may need to give their new wedges and irons a look. Worst case scenario is I have a travel set.
