My favorite part about the chorale is the articulation in the low brass, especially the contras. It legit sounds like the pedals on an organ. Pretty stinking cool.

This hornline is the best I've heard since 2013 Crown. Can't wait to hear them late season!
I absolutely love the way they have this horn line balanced. normally the high voices tend to overpower the tuba/euph sound, but this is so perfectly balanced that I can pick out every section.

I'd just like to point out that during the final crescendo, to just before the release (1:50 to 2:14), the decibel level is only a few points below what is considered "hearing safe" to the naked ear. Nice!

Bass Clef these days. Those that read Treble generally learn to read bass for drum corps, although some drum corps still print parts in treble when needed.

How does 106 DB compare to other groups for warmups?
If anything, I'd guess this is one of the loudest hornlines to listen to in an arc, if not just because of how tightly they wrap the arc, with tubas in the back (distance is everything). But this same hornline would probably register even higher than 106 dB on asphalt -- grass soaks up a lot of sound, like sound damping in a recording studio. That said, there are many factors affecting perceived loudness, and dB SPL isn't necessarily a great comparison for ensembles with different instrumentation, so much as a day-to-day tracking tool for mass contribution.

Maybe a little Sweeney Todd-esque on the grandiose accented 5th chords, but to me, the rest evokes a Kinetic Noise in A minor, particularly with the high brass sustains during low brass rests :)

That tuning progression sounds an awful lot like Crown's...
Many corps (and probably bands) use that Bb tuning progression. If anything, Bluecoats' is unique because of the minor 7th (Ab).
