Great that you got out Bolton. Thanks for showing the Heldon in an overnighter. Gives me some insight into whether I want it or not. Nice multi use piece of equipment, but not sure it is a better replacements for the setups I already have and use or a needed addition at this point.

I use my HELSDON under a tarp here in Australia in the summer with the flies peeled back for maximum ventilation and even days of 40C and nights dropping to 19C, it is terrific. I keep a Mylar emergency blanket for insulation in case it gets windy and cold spots occur but so far never happened. When it goes below 18C I slip in a 10mm closed cell yoga mat and that has insulated me down to 5C. If it is going to be colder I use a Trekology UL50. I agree getting in when pouring down can be problematic and a tarp overhead resolves that issue, but then it is no different from getting into a bivvy bag or even a small tent with no decent vestibule to peel off the wet kit. Weight is up compared to some gathered end types; I find if I leave the flies at home and adjust the spreader bars to be removable I can carry a tarp and a Mylar and keep the weight down to a comparable tent set up and it is far more comfy.
I agree I have several bridge hammocks they are about the same comfort level but I do like the privacy of the cover the most comfortable hammock I've ever used is the Amok draumr by far thanks for watching and commenting its greatly appreciated 👍
100% mate. If you're getting wet or even damp while out and have nowhere to change and eat or have a brew, you're stuffed. Ideal with this one if it isn't raining or you just want to escape a light shower
I checked the Helsdon out a while ago, decided to go with the Ridgerunner, weight and cost being main reasons. How does this compare to the Ridgerunner, especially comfort-wise? Not that it matters now, lol, I already made my purchase. :) Looks like a rewarding camp.
The comfort level is about the same to be honest Bill the Amok draumr is the best hammock I've used for comfort by far it was a windy and wet camp but the helsdon stayed bone dry thanks fir watching Bill ridgerunner is a good choice
