Menace had more action. Boyz had a better message.
Max B nah
Menace had both a message and action, either in prison, dead or out the hood (o dog prison, kane n the gang dead, that girl who kane fw got out)
@@NovakBlok2 hell nah menace touched on police brutality too
@Maniac50AE I see y u want them all dead except for o dogg cause yo ass is a maniac it's right there in yo name
@@DirtyDev Not like how boyz in the hood did tho
When I was younger, I was really into menace ii society but as I got older, I realized that boys in the hood was a much deeper movie than menace
But if you go through the generational cycles and people being products of there environment and toxic masculinity etc menace 2 society got and equally valid message
Boyz n The hood is a straight masterpiece. How is this even a debate??
Both had great messages but menace was more gritty
I agree.
i gotta go with menace II society i like boyz in da hood but i wasnt really feeling cuba character that much it just was something about him that was off but wit menace u just get that raw gritty feel like everyday can be ur last
David Travon I agree homie. I saw just a few scenes in boyz n the hood that came off as a lil too unlikely in real life, like Ricky getting killed then taken home to his mothers crib. I sadly enough, have known practically everything played out in menace 2 society to happen in the streets even where I'm from.
exactly i wasnt feeling cuba..
@@rldabomb33 cuba look outtaplace
Menace was more for entertainment, whereas boys in the hood had the twists and turns of real life
Definitely liked both of them. I think Boyz In Da Hood was more impactful but from memory i enjoyed Menace II Society more honestly.
Blunted Alien yea boyzn the hood Really Depicted Real life
The giant Troll I feel like boyz in the hood had better message. It had more important lessons like the impact of a responsible father. Menace to society is realistic too, yet in another sense. Menace to society better emphasizes the way everyday in the hood could be your last.
I look for a positive message in these types of films, so between the two I have to go with Boyz N The Hood. Not to mention Boyz got me emotionally. However, the character development with Caine throughout Menace was definitely on-point.
P.S.
Illmatic all day!
Boys gave u optimism but menace gave u the hardcore reality of the lives they lived.
Boyz in the Hood 100%, it was more sadder when Ricky got shot and they had to bring his body to his mother's house
The devastation of the mother and his girlfriend and his child was really sad made you want to cry
It was definitely hard to watch but the fact that Ricky passed his test before he was killed to go to college
But his real dream was to be a football player
Menace to society juice, a New Jack City is no comparison with Boyz in the Hood" and I love them All, but only one movie had a true positive side to the entire movie that truly survived and made it
And that was Boyz in the Hood.
Especially in that movie there were at least one good father that was in that kid life and his name was Trey.
Gotta go with menace...if boyz had a different actor playing tre styles I probably would've went with it...but Cuba was a straight up miscast...
Dwayne Martin was a square in Above the rim and he did his thing. Just because a dude is straight laced dont mean he has to be corny. Cuba irks me in this flick. I try to block out his BS when i watch it.
Have to go with "Boyz N The Hood" if for no other reason than the final scene when Doughboy talks about how he probably will get killed, but it doesn't matter because "we all gotta go sometime." When Tre says he still has one brother left--that is as emotional a scene as I've ever witnessed--unforgettable!!
Menace to society show more street life boyz n the hood show tre and Ricky gone to school to be someone
Boyz n da hood all day
Menace 2 Society.
Boyz n da hood ,Juice,New Jack city, meance 2 society and Paid in Full a classic as well
definitely classics
Fax all the movies were amazing
Menace 2 society is the best
i grew up in the 80s and 90s menace was more accurant.. i think menace is one of the best movie ever made..
Samee
Menace was shot in LA and didn't even really show a strong gang life aspect as Boyz N Da Hood showed. How can it be more accurate?
@@usteznaaj4975 menace was more accurate
@@lovegodloveothers3404 no
@@usteznaaj4975 Are you kidding me😂? Did you even watch the movie lmao? In the first 60 seconds Menace to society they already were comitting murder. As far as I remember Boyz in the hood only had 1 death that was even shown and that was Ricky's. Menace to society was a much more accurate representation of street life
i gotta go with menace II society i like boyz in da hood but i wasnt really feeling cuba character that much it just was something about him that was off but wit menace u just get that raw gritty feel like everyday can be ur last
Definitely Boyz In The Hood 🙌
Boyz N Da hood is a little bit more realistic for me
Great review!! Man I can listen to you all day! The final menace scene fucked me up when I was younger. But youre right. Ricky's death was beyond impactful. So impactful that I still remember where I was when I watched it. I was watching it with my fam at the time and I just remembered all the black women in my family crying out NO when Ricky turned to run for his life. It was like something they all played in their mind at one point. The way they all cried out in unison at that scene I'll never forget it.
Excellent review. R.I.P John Singleton
I can't choose I like both for different reasons. Young Jada pinkett though, fine af
1. Boyz N Da Hood
2. Menace to Society
3. Poetic Justice
4. Baby Boy
5. Training Day
1.Boyz n the Hood
2.Menace To Society
3.Paid in Full
4.Juice
5.Higher Learning
1. Menace to society
2. Boyz N Da Hood
3. Juice
4. Baby boy
5. Strapped
No juice or Friday
I’m leaning toward Menace. Just slightly tho.
Really good breakdown of 2 good movies.
I got Boyz N Da Hood as the better classic. "either they don't know, don't show or don't care..." realest shyt!!
Menace could of had more heart and feelings if Kane survive the drive by and had too pick weather too go back in too that life style or leave with jada and her son out the ghetto, could of showed it as vision if he pick life of crime he would of got killed
menace had a more interesting plot and better dialogue, the cinematography is great too
boy n the hood had culture, action, and meaning. Menace was just violent
liked both of the movies but menace is just a whole different level when it comes to the streets
Boyz in the hood was way better than meance
Boyz N Da Hood is better by a mile. New Jack City, Boyz N Da Hood, Juice & Menace II Society is the Mount Rushmore of hood classics.
Love both but prefer boys in the hood
Agreed 100% on all the reasons why you picked that as the winner. Growing up with this subject matter and getting to actually experience when both these movies came out, Menace doesn't really have the same emotional pull that Boyz in the Hood does. Everyone who's watched them both will always remember the scenes of Ricky's death and his family's reaction clearly af. You're not getting any scenes with that kind of long lasting impact from Menace, as excellent of a movie that it is.
Menace 11 Society!!
The shooting at end of both movies, it was just more dramatic n scary n real in boyz n the hood PERIOD
“Yo I’m watching these shits tonight fuck that” 😂😂😂😂 yessss yoouuu maddeee me want to watch them both again perfect review
Caine was an anti-hero, much like Tony Montana was in Scarface. That's why his story appealed to me. I'm riding with Menace on this one.
Let’s go boyz n da hood won
They’re both fantastic, but Menace’s more raw edge really just hits perfection
I think Menace is less shallow than often portrayed. Caine's not perfect, but the last scene where he sacrifices his life to save 5 year old Anthony in a way completes his character arc. It doesn't take away from the shit he did, but its his way of redeeming himself by helping the next generation live on.
Menace 2 society all the way
I feel like menace to society is like teenage movie , boyz n hood is more Real.
I like boyz in tha hood better
It's simple: People who prefer a better overall quality movie, with better writing, better direction, stronger character development, and an overall stronger message and impact will go with Boyz N Da Hood
Those who prefer more action, senseless violence, graphic shootings with not a lot of substance, go with Menace.
I feel like it’s the opposite, to me the message and writing of boys in the hood was a bit cheesy compared to the sad reality of menace
To me, Boyz n the Hood is like The Godfather while Menace is like Goodfellas
Boys n da hood, menace 2 society, Juice and then new Jack
I agree!!! Sugar Hill should be in there too!!
Man u gotta do more of these dawg classik boyz for me too
Menace had a bigger impact on me fosho and it just gave that feel of what it really was and how the hood got down
The *majority* of black people that live in the *inner City of Los Angeles* live the way the movie Boyz in the Hood betrayed them
The film *Menace to society* was just some crap that goes down in the projects
two classics but menace had it all action heart classic ending strong message unforgettable characters menace just balls the FUCK out
Nobody can match O-Dog and Caine
Menace II Society was more cinimatically flashy but more subtle and ambiguous when it came to spelling everything out for the viewer.
Boyz n the Hood made it very clear who was a good guy and a bad guy.
Boyz n the Hood had bigger mass appeal and better writing and character development but Menace II Society was more gritty and raw and presented a world where not everything is just black and white.
boy n the hood and menace to society there both good and there both about the hood and gangs
Menace had very little to do with gangs actually, it pretty much ignored that aspect for the main characters. It just showed them to be up to no good in the streets, but never really had a 'territorial, or protecting my hood' sort of feel, whereas Boyz N Da Hood showed this.
I like both of the movies
I just have to split it down the middle. Each is its own good thing.
Menace had some great action and was very raw, ruthless and O Dog was brilliant as the ultimate menace… But story line, character development, overall cast, message and climax building I agree with ARP and pick Boyz hands down. 🙌🏾
arp im not even going to hold you i was born in "87' : MENACE TO SOCIETY #facts #openingscene #hoodshit
Menace is more realistic
Yupp
*How so?*
@@georgemclane1472 you just gotta be from the west coast to understand
Menace will always be better n if u in the streets Boyz n the hood was a view of it may not come to u but it will hit home because of u
If we're looking at realism I think Boys wins, although I can't really say much since I'm from Europe and not the US, but using the hood I grew up in as an example, Boys seems more realistic to me personally. As far as pure entertainment goes, I think Menace is much better. Overall, both are great and sad films.
Menace's violence is very realistic. Im from L.A and the 80s and 90s had high murder rates. 93 was a really bad year. 700 murders. So the high violence is real. But Boyz IMO is better. Boyz is realistic too and its better written.
JayZ greatest debut album ... Salute ARP
salute homie.... damn you make that choice sound easy lol
ARP BLOG SPOT I consider a great debut the impact it had when it dropped, not only setting the bar, but also what the standard is, reasonable doubt the best debut because it set the bar & Jay never delivered beneath that level, simply because we don't argue whether it's his "best" album, the debut was grand because no matter what his debut didn't trump his career like many many many other greats ... Reasonable Doubt was the argument, Blueprint was the formula & Magna Carta was the Holy Grail lol ... we can really chop up on these topics if you wanna go there big homie lol
The depth of the characters in boyz n the hood is just too good. Tre is chill and relatable, Ricky makes me 😂 every time he comes up and is inspiring and doughboy is also relatable we all want to let that aggression out but in the end it's not worth it. The links between the characters too. It just gives you a good feeling. I wouldn't be able to stand o dog for a minute
its a little bit like scarface and carlitos way
Menace = scarface
Boyz = Carlito
Wow I actually like that comparison. Im a Carlito fan myself. Lol
Both Are What And What Because They Are Realistic About The Black Man Struggle.
For all of you that follow rock music
This is just like Van Halen
Who's the better lead singer
David Lee Roth vs Sammy Hagar
The Eternal Debate
The world may never know
Both are badass
Boyz is alot easier to watch imo
I enjoyed Menace to Society much more.
Don't be a menace to South Central while drinking your juice in the hood is by far the better movie.
Boys in the Hood was better. Both were great though.
ILLmatic… easy!
Menace 2 Society is my favorite. Boyz N the hood has likable characters and a good story but felt more like a coming of age story. Menace had more savage gang banging scenes and felt more like a thug film. It's also as gritty as Scarface.
Rona got me watching both movies again today, yo ARP u nailed it homeboy. Review was spot on, both movies definitely a classic but I agree the depth of characters in Boyz’ just draws you in. Gotta give it the edge
YOU ARE so BEAUTIFUL...i appreciate the depths shown
Odogg is annoying as hell and is just too much , doughboy is so much better and it’s not close
Poetic Justice vs Jason’s Lyric
The wrost part of death it cost money
Menace has better funny characters
Boys in the hood
More structured
Menace to society
More linear
Boyz N The Hood no doubt
I gotta go with Menace II Society
Boyz n da hood is better. It's just better. Come on guys
I say BOYS N THE HOOD BECAUSE BOYZ IS THE BLUE PRINT TO THE HOOD MOVIE
arp a mad scientist I swear. good breakdown fam I'm watching these again tonight too lol. #freeboom
appreciate it homie.... im bout to do the same lol
You hit it right on the number. And it's NEW JACK CITY ALL DAY!!!!
There is no VS both movies are necessary it’s two different sides of the same story
i’m menace to society
mainly for personal enjoyment reasons but objectively boyz is a better movie
Y'all knew they was Grape street crips in menace?
Both are classics I'm not choosing
Idk sharifs dad came with some real OG game
Menace better.
yes illmatic vs RD lets goooooooo
American Me or Blood in Blood Out
Dope blog...seen both but u bring up great character points...
Agreed. Great breakdown of both movies
Tre=Caine
Doughboy=O-Dog
Ricky=Sharif
Furious=Caine’s grandparents
Brandi=Ronnie
Monster=Stacy
Dooky=A-Wax
Lil Chris-Chauncy
I'm happy for a video. I would like to know what prompted you to do this particular blog.
prob just 2 classics that i never tried decide on which is better until today
"I'm gonna get you sucka" Do you like that movie?
classic comedy lol
Menace is better acted, more action, better audio video quality by a big stretch. But boyz hits different way more tense and dramatic Ricky's death has more impact than the whole of menace you really feel that shit. It's much more dramatic and touches on cultural issues in a smarter way. Whereas menace is like a action movie a thrill ride but nothing much changes throughout
I love menace but boyz n tha hood was more superior
W
Both are great in their own way, but I can rewatch menace more than boys in the hood.
