    I run a 2300 Magnuson on my 6.0 liter 2009 Pontiac G8. It makes 600 hp with no problem on 93 Octane.

      I had the active fuel management removed. I added a beefier cam to support the supercharger. Dual fuel pumps, Bosch Injector Dynamics 1050 fuel injectors, Rotofab cold air intake. Right now I am only running 6 pounds of boost. I thought about more, but the 6.0 liter V8 already has a 10.4 to 1 compression ratio; but trust me the low end power is extreme with 6 pounds. The torque comes on quick and the redline is now at 6,500 rpm. I also have the car set up to run E85 with 2% methanol added directly to the fuel. It does not have methanol injection. The car has 3 inch stainless works X pipe exhaust. After the mods were completed the shop had it on the dyno a couple of days to get the timing real precise. In addition to the engine mods I had Pedders suspension components installed, including cradle bushings, springs and sway bars. Just switching to E85 and meth adds almost another 100 horsepower. The biggest limitation is the tires. While I run Michelin Pilots, they just go up in smoke from a standing start. If I ran the car at the drag strip, I would invest in some good slicks. The car is a sleeper but just sitting at idle it sounds like a Hellcat or Shelby GT 500. It is quite capable of hanging with them on the Saturday night trips to Mexico!🙄

      I would love to ask you something considering your experience. I have a 2014 5.3l gmc sierra, and I've been checking the options to boost it. So i am considering the whipple or the maggie ... i am leaning towards the maggie but i am guy and i want bigger. Magnuson offers tvs1900 for the 5.3l and I think it's upgradable to tvs2300 .. what do you advise me to do? Stick with the 1900 or 2300 ? Or maybe even getting a whipple? Thank you

      I should say that this truck is 100% my daily driver. I don't want to worry about driving it for long distances or pushing it to its limits

      Eddie b omg this comment is 2 years old. Anyway I got the whipple and I really enjoyed it. I installed king coil overs and drove the hell out that truck on sand dunes and streets. I sold it to my brother a year ago. It’s now lowered and it’s his daily driver

    Ive owned and raced every forced induction system sold. though out my years I find turbocharging to be the most efficient. I love compound systems and see them replacing allot of systems in the future. Its what I have on my current v8 setup .

    Those are some small blowers though compared to what whipple puts out. Whipple has up to 8 liter blowers lol. That's a lot of cfm . I think the guy is spot on but he's probably straying away from big blower talk since they only got a 2.3. The 1.9 liter is only rated for 120 hp for a 5.3. A lot of guys start putting small pulley's on them in no time and get belt slip trying to spin them faster to get the cfm as a bigger blower.....so do your research and know your power goals. superchargers are not as adjustable as turbo's so it's more important to know your power goals. Twin screw seems to be better everywhere as well besides price.

      What makes a blower small or big is how much air you want to push. If you have a very large supercharger spinning slowly it won’t be efficient in lower rpms and will add boost similar to a centrifugal. Those situations will always be down on torque for a small increase up top. A TVS is proven more efficient 15psi and below when properly sized. The new 2650 outflows the Whipple 2.9. A TVS not in boost doesn’t create heat. A twin screw always has pressure building within the case. They will produce a cooler charge at 16-25 psi ect. The reason for a smaller TVS is the oem cares about average torque not necessarily top end HP. They also last well past 100k miles. The latest 2650 had a 2500 hour continuous endurance test at max rpm at 22k rpm.

      James Avery you’re reading hp on the box, 1.9 and 2.3’s are capable of support big power north of 1000hp crank. It all depends on the motor and your starting point. Belt slip occurs on any size belt, be it 6,8,10 or 12. Companies like ATI starting offering pulleys that are grooved for resistance to slip. Big liter blowers don’t necessarily make more power, the 4.5 Whipple in fact is limited by the factory crusher inlet at 170mm and can’t support enough air flow to fully utilize the size. The benefit of the larger blower, is it by default pushes more air into the motor thus require less boost or rpm to generate the same power at one half its size. This is why Whipple runs significantly cooler on operating temps than a Magnuson. Turbo’s are efficient because they use exhaust gasses. They are not easier to deal with in general tuning, and only over racers that compete in the street or strip finer methods of dialing in their car. Superchargers like my own 4.5 Whipple Extended Drive, pulleys/belt can be swapped in minutes and tune for more/less boost flashed. They also react well to Nitrous, E85 and Methanol which are additional devices that can help gear the car. Whipple is taking factory 5.0 Mustangs and going 8’s with their 3.0kit. It currently takes a custom twin turbo system to get mustangs into the same numbers and there are faaarr fewer of these guys running around

      @@stevenp3176 Magnuson compared their new 2650 to they're smaller units and it seemed to be just as responsive down low compared to the 2300 and 1740. Being they are all positive displacement blower's which make roughly the same boost everywhere in the rev range I don't think a larger blower would be all that laggy but then again I don't have experience with them.     The positive displacement blowers on the funny cars and top fuel dragsters are NOT a roots type, they are a screw type. Namely the PSI blowers, and there price tag reflects it. Screw blowers cost more than roots style blowers. Just wanted to add my two cents.

      Wrong.
      In the nitro classes ALL blowers are high end roots style, by rule. In the alky classes, the screw is allowed and the PSI is the blower of choice.

      Because they're more efficient and run cooler than positive displacement blowers. Less parasitic HP loss and higher peak HP than positive displacement blower too. On a street car/daily driver, Procharged vehicle are showing stock like MPG under normal driving condition under 3K RPM, but turns into a monster above 3K RPM. No need to be at max boost under 3K RPM on a street car, unless you don't care about traction issues, MPG, and engine life/longevity. For a track car, I would definitely go the turbo route! You get lots of power with efficiency.

      deadboy600 Manufacturers use positive displacement blowers, because they're a little less expensive. Manufacturers also know that most consumers will never take these cars to a track/dragstrip. The positive displacement blower provides consumers with good low end power and torque for street, daily driver use under 3K RPM. Centrifugal superchargers are more suited for track/strip use above 3K RPM. Also, because centri blowers operate a lot cooler when pushed hard at the track/strip, you can get more consistent, repeatable performance times on back to back runs. With PD blowers you see noticeable drops in performance on back to back runs, even during dyno runs.

    I am looking to add a supercharger to my Ford Fusion. I want to increase HP by 100, around there anyway. Can you give me some advice to fulfilling this goal. Or how to go about increasing the HP with the Twin turbo system on the car. I am a novice.

    Installing now on my magnum srt8 6.1. I'm not sure how it'll perform as a partial daily driver on the highway for 40 miles or a road trip 400 miles. Any experience or thoughts with that scenario?

      @@MrPugheaven I did. CAI, 85mm BBK TB, Magnuson TVS 2300 Supercharger, SOS Coils, BBK LT headers, Magnaflow 3' Catback, 180° thermostat, Ding Racing Valve Body (trans tune not flashed yet). Just installed new Supercharger pulley 3.1, tensioner pulley, hellcat injectors, and waiting on a new dyno tune. Still running the Magnuson 5lbs tune. My last dyno after SC install was 465 hp and 455tq. Gonna try and dyno this weekend.

      ntme9 The 1900 will be a better SC for a stock or cammed 5.3. The 1900 is more efficient quicker to boost up to around 750crank.

    The rotors have to spin to a certain rpm before they become efficient. If you’re below this rpm the supercharger doesn’t put out much power. This is most noticeable with the larger TVS/whipples are being under driven well below their efficiency windows. Below 7k blower rpm they just suck. Low torque numbers show this. Also come on Magnuson you know exactly what the parasitic loss and discharge temps based on blower rpm/pressure ratio ie boost. This the exact reason why the 2650 is a different design vs the rest of the line up. Also the reason why the 1740 is avoided when possible by aftermarket kits. It’s the worse version efficiency wise.

    Maggie takes forever to release anything. This is why they petition you to stick with a 2300 saying anything else is too big...bullshit. You want big HP, you run higher boost, more fuel...They released a 2650, but not for all platforms and drive around and post endless shit on their white camaro. It a a rock solid PD blower, but the largest unit is a 2650 that isn't released for the late model 5.7-6.1 hemi's everywhere with no intention to.
