To put something mentioned in the video into perspective; the Serie A was the BEST league in the world, not only in the 80's, but also the 90s and even into the early 2000s. In this 30 year period, almost every club had at least one bonafied legend on the team and the league overall was extremely competitive. Not only that, but Italian clubs competed in Europe. Even Sampdoria made it to the UCL final in 1992 and Parma won 2 UEFA Cups by 1999 (which is crazy to think now).
Paolo Maldini played from 1985-2009 which was almost all of the Italian top league’s (Serie A) golden age (1982-2006). Zlatan has played since 1999 (joined Serie A in 2004), and Maradona played in 1976-1997, and was in Serie A in 1984-1991. It’s only Paolo Maldini who faced both Maradona (1985-1991) and Zlatan (2004-2009), cuz 25 years as a pro elite footballer is INSANE longevity. 1028 matches in total! One thing that is not mentioned in the vid is that Milan won the 91-92 Serie A UNDEFEATED. Two years after winning two Champions League’s in a row, and two years before DESTROYING ‘Dream Team’ Barcelona 4-0 in the Champions League final and ending Johan Cruyff’s career as a coach. The 1987-1994 Milan team(s) is arguably the greatest club team of all time. They had the greatest defence of all time: Paolo Maldini & Franco Baresi (captain) are 2 of the top 3 GOAT’ed defenders behind only Kaiser Franz Beckenbauer - in addition to Costacurta (21 years at Milan) and Tassotti. On top of the undefeated season, they arguably changed the offside rule in the early 90s because of how effective their offside traps were. Franco Baresi would give the call for Maldini, Costacurta and Tassotti to run forward and it almost always worked - so much that the Football Associations around the world saw how ridiculous it got and made the rule more lenient. Before, the offside was given if ANY player was further ahead of the opposing defence during a pass. Now, it’s only the one player receiving the ball (or the player obscuring a goalkeepers view or movement) who has to stay onside. Add their midfield (Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard) and attack (Marco Van Basten) GOAT’s on top of stars like Savicevic, Donadoni, Desailly, Ancelotti, Evani, Albertini, Boban, and you have the trend-setters who took over the European throne from Real Madrid (who hadn’t won the CL since the 60s, but were still considered THE team to beat up till 1990) and changed the rules. A little more about ‘Prime Serie A’: From Platini (1982), Laudrup (1983), Maradona (1984), Rummenigge (1984), Gullit & Van Basten (1987), Matthäus (1988) and Batistuta (1991) to Zanetti (1995), Zidane (1996), Ronaldo (1997), Cafu (1997), Shevchenko (1999), and Kaka (2003). All the biggest stars and world cup players were there, and every team had some world class talent, even after the ‘only 3 foreign players on the pitch’ rule was abolished. The legendary Napoli, Sampdoria, Lazio, Parma and Hellas Verona teams all existed during these decades, on top of the big 3 (Juve, Milan, Inter). GOAT’s like Maradona, Platini, Ronaldo, Matthäus and all reached their prime here. On top of all the Italian greats that played: Maldini, Baresi, Baggio, Scirea, Totti, Nesta, Cannavaro, Buffon, Mancini, Pirlo, Del Piero, Bergomi, Tardelli, Vieri, Di Natale, Inzaghi, Zola etc. From 1992-1998 there was always one Italian team in the Champions League final, PLUS the two-in-a-row that Milan won in 89 & 90. It all probably culminated in the all-Italian 2003 final between Juve & Milan, and the greatest final of all time in 2005 when all-star Milan choked against underdogs Liverpool. Italy’s national team reached 3 world cup finals during this time (1982, 1994, 2006), winning the first and last of them.

He's the best. His mentor Baresi 2nd, Nesta third, Cannavaro 4th, Roberto Carlos 5th, Costacurta 6th, Cafu 7th, Tassoti 8th, Chielini 9th, Scirea 10 w honorable mentions of Gentile, Stahm and Thuram - a 75% Italian dominated list.

Players that completely blow your mind are goats, ie Maradonna (Argentina), Pele(Brazil), Eusebio(Portugal), Bobby Charlton(England), George Best(Northen Ireland),Cryuff(Holland), Gascoigne(England), Zidane(France), Messi(Argentina),Ronaldo(Portugal) These players are full of flair and skill. Maldini was the type of player that made defending an artful position and these type of players keep the team disciplined and they pull the strings for team.
Football is a team sport, Maldini made his team infinitely better for being in it, and won almost everything by doing it. If that doesn't earn you consideration as one of the greatest then fuck this game, go juggling on a field alone no need to play in a team.

1:35 that was literally the italian style of football since i know aiut the sport, i saw them do it in the world cup 2006 and they still did that against Belgium in the last euro, it's not the best tactic nor the most beautiful and a little risky depending on when you start it but they do it so good that it made them win, it's controversial because they flop a little while doing it, to gain some time, but they truly are the masters of that tactic
His son Daniel Maldini is also currently at AC Milan, hope he continues the family legacy well
He’s currently out on loan but he does have a lot of potential

Never watched him but he’s the greatest defender for sure
u have to react to wayne rooney he was one of the greatest strikers who ever played in the premier league
bronco you gotta react to Antony from ajax he's ridiculous
Last time a defender won the Ballon d'Or was in 2006, another italian - Fabio Cannavaro
Bronco, react to peter crouch, he was as tall as a basketball pivot you gotta see him doing a bicycle kick
correct me if im wrong, zlatan played for malmo, ajax,ac milan, inter milan, juventus, psg, manchester united, barcelona, and la galaxy
You should try reacting to Carlos Puyol, he's a legendary Barcelona defender
Maldini is the goat. From a Barça fan.
Baresi and Beckenbauer should also be above Van Dijk and Ramos as well. This is one of the weaker eras for defenders in history right now. None of the current players can match up to the greats of the past.
He's the best. His mentor Baresi 2nd, Nesta third, Cannavaro 4th, Roberto Carlos 5th, Costacurta 6th, Cafu 7th, Tassoti 8th, Chielini 9th, Scirea 10 w honorable mentions of Gentile, Stahm and Thuram - a 75% Italian dominated list.
Serie A was the best league from 1980 to 2006
Maldini is indeed the best man .
Cannavaro was the last defender to win the Ballon d'or in 2006
I can’t choose between maldini and nesta on who’s the best defender of all time, so i would say both
Ronaldo R9 is the only player that made Maldini in fear
Need a Franz beckenbauer reaction asap
Maldini was a great player but no where near the goat!!
Players that completely blow your mind are goats, ie Maradonna (Argentina), Pele(Brazil), Eusebio(Portugal), Bobby Charlton(England), George Best(Northen Ireland),Cryuff(Holland), Gascoigne(England), Zidane(France), Messi(Argentina),Ronaldo(Portugal)
These players are full of flair and skill.
Maldini has defended against maradona messi Ronaldo and all in between 😂 legend
a yo.. great reaction, bro. then you gotta check “Alessandro Nesta”, his absolute “Duo Mate”
Maldini
superstars

7. NESTA
8. THURAM (JUVE)
9. CAMPBELL
10. RIO FERDINAND
Scirea is top 3
React to an underrated Defender. Rafael Marquez ( Mexico & FC Barcelona Player )
1:35 that was literally the italian style of football since i know aiut the sport, i saw them do it in the world cup 2006 and they still did that against Belgium in the last euro, it's not the best tactic nor the most beautiful and a little risky depending on when you start it but they do it so good that it made them win, it's controversial because they flop a little while doing it, to gain some time, but they truly are the masters of that tactic
btw you got to react to De Ligt, my favorite defender at the moment
9:54 Zlatan is 40 or 41, he played against Maldini in the last years of his career
W Dabronco
The last defender to win was Fabio Cannavaro
Played from 1984-2009 for his entire career at AC Milan
