- Today we unbox our new Snapchat Spectacles! We bought them online through a friend (who no longer has any for sale unfortunately but you can find them online in various places like eBay still, if you're looking for a pair). This vid is an in-depth look at the Spectacles themselves as well as troubleshooting some device paring issues. Make sure your spectacles are fully charged and that you don't have your "do not disturb" mode on on your device. That was the issue that we ran into. We were able to successfully pair ours to our device in the end. We hope you enjoyed this vid and that it helped you if you were running into the same issues we were. I had the same problem but used 60 Seconds and the hard reset that fixed my problem. Great video for the real users setup of the problems that a lot of people are having and Snapchat customer service has no idea. Thanks Dave

😂.. They are glasses that came out as an addition to the app Snapchat. I think originally they were sold in vending machines in specific locations, but I'm guessing now you can buy them online. They are a, very overpriced, addition to the app that is basically a camera in a pair of glasses so that you don't need to pull out your phone to film on the app. The whole point of Snapchat is "film in a quick second and it disappears," and this makes it even more like that.
I think they are kinda stupid for being a couple hundred dollars, but the tech is cool.. I don't know if you wanted them explained but yea.

Looks like fun. Maybe try using them on a roller coaster and a simple dark ride to get a point of view recording. Any ride where you look all over would be interesting, like Winnie the Pooh or Dinosaur.

do not lose them on the ride tim! you should get some string or something so they do not fall off when you are at disneyworld riding the rides or something.

I for one as a teenage girl love these glasses. The big dots on the side are a lil weird but I don't get the comments saying they are awful. I guess it's just a persons style

Once button is pushed it gives you 10 seconds of filming, the light that you see while wearing them tells you when it's about to turn off by it flashing when it stops it's stopped filming. To add more time to it you push the button again before the light gos away. Just a tip. I got me the black ones.

We took down the homer and the art because it was a bit distracting when I was trying to hold up the phone and pair the glasses. They are back up now. :-)
My friend got a new pair but the sunglass isnt charging. Do you know the reason behind it. It is stuck with 1 battery light. The case and everything seems fine but 1 circle bar (extreme low charging) is not improving.

I had the same problem trying to pair my spectacles when I got them. I had to do the reset too. I ended up charging them for a little bit and then it finally worked lol

today I went to universal orlando and my phone fell out of my pocket in men in black. I was able to retrieve it thankfully. The case is a little messed up though.

I'm probably not the target audience for Snapchat (given that I don't really know what the point of these spectacles are!) But they seem horribly designed, without much thought put into user experience. For example, not being able to see the battery level when you're wearing them…! And the obvious difficulties you had in pairing them.... are they really expecting these to be widely adopted or is it a bit of a niche product for people who are really super into Snapchat?! I'm all for wearable high-definition cameras (I have a set of those iVue POV glasses myself) but this seems like quite the rigmarole for recording little 10 second videos that then disappear… Or is there something I'm missing here?
You hit the nail on the head! Now that we have them I think they were marketed towards a much younger audience. I have a pair of Pivothead glasses that are much better than the spectacles! I don't use snapchat, but Jenn does and her snaps turn out really neat. I'm excited to see how she uses these glasses. The way we do it is Jenn (when we can get a dog sitter) snaps a sort of preview of what the vlog will be the next day.

Im having the same issue with the battery and have not been able to figure out how to do the hard reset. also kept the specs in the case while its charged and for some reason the specs wouldnt charge and it keeps giving me the red dot. any suggestions?

Enrique Marquez yeah I had to perform the hard reset. instead of holding down for 50 seconds, you must hold down for 55 seconds. Let go after 55 seconds, press the button once within 10seconds. and you'll see 3 dots going around the LED ring. after that it showed I had a full battery and paired right away!
Enrique Marquez I had to use the timer on my phone because I was letting go at 50 second mark instead of 55 seconds. so it was only performing a soft reset before instead of a hard reset.

It's didn't charge for me I leave it in the charge for 1 hour and it's only one lights PLEASE HELP !!!
Double tap the side, says full battery but when I try to pair it flashes three times and the red light also goes off. Someone help :(

I honestly don't see the point of them. You wont be able to take them on rides, and a cam is better at filming than those. They're not discreet so you couldn't secretly film anything without people knowing. They're really just a novelty item.
They really are a novelty. It was one of those situations where we were like: "should we get them? Maybe... Yes... No... ok get them." Now we try to see how we can use them creatively.

Sure, but I don't snap. Anything I would be snapping I just film for the video. :-) Jenn does all the snapping and we have paired them with her snapchat now so she will be using them more!

Have you ran into the problem where it says you need to update them and then the updates continuously fail? I've tried contacting Snapchat troubleshooting team and still nothing...🙁 Any advice or experience with this?

$130 if a vending machine comes to your town, otherwise you'll have to get them off ebay or know someone in a town where a machine was. I could see if someone snaps a bunch then they would be worth it.

Nope, the bluetooth was on. It was just the battery on the spectacles.

Are pivothead or zetronix ultra wides not better than this. I know one thing, they are a lot better looking than those bug eyes. I'm just being honest with you, if anybody likes these they are pulling your leg. A bugs life gives these away for free.
The pivotheads are way better! I have the newest models and the video is amazing! The audio leaves a lot to be desired, but I may have gotten a damaged pair. I need to contact Pivothead to get them looked at.
