    Yeah it's just a great piece of engineering and a very reliable and good looking car. The later models did have front airbags for the driver and the one for the co-driver replaced the 2nd glove box. There's also versions with a roof top window and mazda also gave you the choice to have a spoiler and other additional parts. They look great on the car and if you can get your hands on some of them i'd recommend you to do so because it makes the car look great.

      I don't need airbags, because #wedielikemen ahahah I actually haven't had the need to spend that much money on the car. The biggest investment I will do next is a new set of ignition leads/wires, since the old ones are very beaten up. I have strong reason to believe this car had never spent a night in a garage up until now. I will keep making videos letting everyone know how my experience goes :-)

    Dont forget the amazing storage in the doors. For a car this size the storage is amazing. Fun to drive and in the states they get a surprising amount of attention because no one has ever seen one.

    The 2.0 V6 is the one to have, because it's quite unique. Also, it can be "easily" swaped with the 2.5 V6 KL-DE from a Ford Probe, which is very similar to the KF-DE of the 323F but with a little more power.

      It's a great car if you buy it in good shape. Mine has a few things broken. Some of the EU (not UK) parts are hard to find, but doing a bit of research you'll be able to find the most of them (some parts are really hard to find because is a rare car after all). Now, the engine is stronger than the soviet union back in 1980s, I've got the 1.5, and it's pretty decent. Consider that Mazda sports are always light, unlike BMW or Mercedes where they put 2 tons of steel so you can hear cracks whenever you touch something on the dashboard. On the lantis, everything feels solid, even the windows and they're frameless, which sounds weird, but they're quite resistent. My max speed..... wait, not mine, someone else's, in a closed circuit, was 210km/h in a 7% tilted road, and then 180 on flat, so as I said, it's pretty decent, because it weights like it was made out of 2 motor bikes, and recovers are also good, 120-80, and then 80-120 in about 3 seconds in 4th gear, without burning the transmission.
      Over all, it's a great car, and a great investiment, mostly if it's your first car, second car or project (and yeah, there are still a lot of tuning parts for it).

    • @dailydriverreviews
      @dailydriverreviews  8 років тому

      Thank you! The bushings are fine, really. There is zero play in the gear shifter, like it's brand new. The problem really is the way Mazda designed it. Even my father's 2014 Corsa has tighter shifting pattern. Anyway, right now I don't have any mods planned for this car, since it's my daily driver and I also have a project car that I will reveal on this channel soon :-)

      No mods?!? That's crazy talk :D I wanted a very oem feel to my car. So far so good. The plan was to park it over winter and daily my Jeep. Well my plan to fix my Jeep up with a fresher motor fell through. Everything went fine til I broke the shifter off the automatic transmission, (the kind of really screwed kind of broken.) Sooo my daily turned into a project and my project turned into a daily. Now the plan is a 5 speed mtx Jeep with a better 4x4 transfer case. All stock Jeep parts, so it will drive stock and be repairable with stock parts.

    • @alexandruelgeo
      @alexandruelgeo 3 роки тому

      I would definetly. My sister is practicing in my 323f for her driving license, and she feels confident driving it. It's easy to reach everything, no distractions when you try to switch A/C on or whatever. It responds quite fast, power steering is not too soft, not too hard (hydraulic, but it feels great). And if you're a chrisfix sub, yeah, you can fix a lot on it, and it's very easy to do so. Bleeding brakes and clutch, easy as hell, because it's all hydraulic, almost no cables. Replacing parts like short shifter and all that, very easy aswell. And if you just need it for a couple years without investing in it, you can do that aswell. Engines are built solid, you can drive like a learner literally, and there won't be any leaks or gasket problems (ofc if you don't rally it 24/7). You can also drive it on country roads, old cars were supossed to be able to drive on those aswell.
      So yeah, get your hands on one of them, they're great, and they're easy to fix, and you can find tons of second hand replacements for it (and new ones aswell).

      @@alexandruelgeo thanks for all that information, mate. I ended up buying a 323F from 96 that looks brand new and works super well! I am very happy with its driving, and although it isn't the most economic car I think the power/mileage ratio is pretty good tbh. I'm glad I got my hands in one, every electric part works and the acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear is pretty fun. Love the steering as well, very sharp and direct. I hope it will last me for a few years. Cheers!

      @@zem.7986 O2 sensor uses to fail after 80.000 km, because of the exhaust fumes heat (exhaust manifold goes around 450-500ºC which is actually a lot for a 1.5 engine). If you plan on having it for a lot of years, you can custom the exhaust and get a stainless steel one, it will cost money, but that won't heat as much as the stock one, plus, it will last for ever. If you find that the car sucks gas like it was an RX7, it must be the O2 sensor (plus, you won't pass MOT with that because it will read rich). I run a de-cat, and I'm very happy with it, more sound, and you free up some power.
      For the engine, I ran my old engine (a 1.8 which the previous owners installed wrong) with no oil for at least 300 km, and when I found out it had no oil, I checked compression and the inside with an endoscope, it had no significant wear (few minor scratches), so you can beat the shit out of the engine for a bit, and it won't have any problems. As I said, no 24/7 rallying it, but sometimes you can drive it like you stole it.
      It doesn't use to heat, but in case it heats (everything can happen), you can get a better radiator, made all of aluminium, for around 70-80€, and always use the red coolant (even though, they say you have to use the green stuff).
      Think that it's still at least a 23 years old car (and in your case, just like mine, 25 years old car), so you can expect some wear issues in the suspension parts and all what it's made out of rubber, which are easy and cheap to replace. Interior is strong, I don't have any cricket sounds, and the car stood outside for many years, and still stays outside sometimes for weeks.
      If you find out that the suspension feels weak, specially the rear one, it's the problem with these cars (factory struts). All 4 gas struts. Front is good, it feels like mercedes suspension, but the rear feels too soft and it's like it's broken. I changed my rear struts with gas/oil, they feel stronger, but still feel weak, but hey, no car is perfect, even though this is one of the most perfect I driven.
      Have fun with the new toy. Cheers

    The second car I drove was this model. Only a bit older, the one with the pop-up headlights. Was on LPG. 1.6 four pot. And I damn right prefer my dad's Astra. It was in awful condition, and that was probably the reason why it was so awful. Dead handbrake, and gas pedal does not work until you press half of it, and when you do it instantly pushes you forward. Clutch is ridiculously light and pedals are so tiny you need a microscope to find them. And steering wheel has a ridiculously long travel so you need a good turn of the steering wheel to go from one lane to other. Dead awful cars if not taken care of. Probably nice to drive if it hasn't been killed and brought back from the dead 10 million times by 5 million previous owners.

    • @dailydriverreviews
      @dailydriverreviews  8 років тому

      Well, I can tell you mine has none of those problems. But I will agree with you in the sense that they get terrible if you don't look after every single aspect on the car's main components. Mine had a big delay in the throttle... Just tune the throttle cable, problem solved ahaha. They are very easy to work on, but Mazda's are not as dependable as an old Opel, Mercedes or Toyota, which are still "driveable" even when neglected.

    The 323F is a fwd non convertible..It has nothing in common with the MX5/ Miata. Only the badge. They share nothing. The MX3 would be a slightly better comparison. Or maybe the previous BG 323F and that's just cause it has popup lights and shares much the same 1.8 DOHC engine in the GT.
