  • HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) - Wednesday marked the beginning of the end for an old Hackettstown building from the 1800s.
The building, better known as Chicks Barber shop, has sat at the corner of Main Street and East Plane Street since it was built in 1842.
The family barber shop was established on Main Street by the Dimiceli family in 1922 and was in business for 86 years. The building has sat vacant for several years.
Residents and some family members watched as construction crews tore down the building Wednesday morning.
The plan is to turn the space into commercial and apartment use.
Municipal Parking Lot 4 will be closed for the duration of the demolition until Friday, June 21, Hackettstown police said.
