Today, I'm coloring in the new Flora Coloring Book by Maria Trolle. I'm using Gouache paints and Metallic, Glittery Watercolors for this one.
I've found I love painting in coloring books with Gouache paints. There's no need for any primer on the page and I can just keep on layering the gouache over and over until I get the result I want.
I hope you decide to have a go with gouache paints in your coloring books after watching this video. It really is an enjoyable medium to work with and although I am promoting the Arteza Gouache in this video, there are many other brands out there, although, I don't think any that do a 60 tube set.
The Metallic and Glitter paints that I used for decoration are my own little sets that I make myself. I have these available for purchase in my online shop. They have a really high load of the metallic powder so they are lovely and rich to use. They are also very easy to re-wet and they are made from top-quality ingredients. Beautiful work. The Arteza gouache paint seems to blend well. I just got my 'Flora' book and I think it might be my favorite one that Maria Trolle has done. It's really pretty.

Thanks for this lovely and informative video. I'm now inspired to try gouache in a coloring book! It was very interesting how you use colored pencil at the end to add shading and depth. Another new idea that I will take with me into my coloring. Thank you!
Thanks very much, glad you liked it. Yep, I used the coloured penci to tone down the harsh edges of the gold paint and give a bit of shading.

Thanks so much, Karen. Nope, the paint doesn't soak through or anything but the page is slightly buckled though not as much as it would have been if I used watercolors. Hope that helps 😊🎨😃

I love your channel, I have a question I have been curious I have the new book by Hanna Karlzon Spirit Animals my question is with any watercolor pallettes what you suggest to put in between the pages? None of her books are one sided even Marie Trolles latest book before Flora. I would appreciate your help.
Hi Melonie, thanks very much. I don't have the Spirit Animals book but I think it's probably the same paper as this Flora one. I don't put anything between the pages when I use watercolor paints in my colouring books. There shouldn't be a need as watercolor, once dry, shouldn't transfer to the oposite page. Non of mine have transfered.
