If Poki some how breaks through, it might be easier to cut a hole in the door and install a vent cover so air can circulate but they cant get in. It'd look nicer too imo.
When my cat was around 2 years old, I would sometimes wake up in the morning to the saddest yowling coming from somewhere in our kitchen. Turns out our little gremlin got himself trapped behind the refrigerator. Thankfully, getting him out didn't take much. All I had to do was pull the fridge forward to let him out. He'd come darting out, do a little shake, and demand to know what's for breakfast. *sigh* 🤦♀
Poki is that classic cat who is smart enough to get himself into situations dumber cats would never get into, but not smart enough to get himself out of said situation

@0katsuki0 one of my cats needed bloodwork recently and it cost nearly 300 USD (I live in the northeastern US) so 500 USD for 2 cats seems reasonable.

This reminds me of my first cat peeling back the kitchen baseboard of my college apartment and disappearing into the void/walls. You could hear meows but couldn't see her. I had to call building maintenance to see if we could figure out how interconnected the walls were. Luckily, the trouble-maker emerged on her own after about 2 hours. I missed class but my professor enjoyed hearing the reason why!

Have you guys heard about the cat vaccine called AIM? An immunologist specialist at the University of Tokyo, named Miyazaki Toru, is developing it. It's supposed to be available to the public in 2025, and helps to prevent kidney disease from developing or continuing/worsening
My boy had kidney disease too. I fed him the kidney food but also gave him one full churu tube everyday. I think that may have helped keep him hydrated. He lived until 18. ❤

I have a kidney disease cat too and it’s a lot of work and monitoring. I give her sub-q fluids every day! She also has hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, and arthritis. I spend a lot of money on her but I don’t care. She’s been stable (probably higher stage than yours) for about 2 years now. She’s at least 18 years old. She’s worth all the work and money
I hadn't understood the vision on how you planned to block view of the driveway without blocking the garden but your solution looks great! It gives it a sort of modern look now. Lots of houses in the US at least I see using wood paneling for details around their gardens. It looks really nice. You're so creative!
Window film might help with the Nagi issue. They come in many styles and sizes (I found some that have glass prism effects) and just adher with water, no glue so they can be easily removed.
I have had to alter or replace doors doors due to cat shenanigans. I have a couple suggestions that would help preserve airflow to your storage room while also keeping kitties out. 1. You could purchase an aesthetic wall vent and cut a hole in the door to install it. 2. You could install the vent in the interior wall for airflow instead. 2. You could replace the original door for a nice-looking screen door. Either way, I loved the video and seeing your happy kitties always cheers me up. Thank you, Rachel & Jun!
Yeah I think that just replacing the door for a screen door that latches like normal is the correct call. You can probably find one that looks nice/woody/bamboo-ish or something.
A traditional midwestern screen door with metal or fiberglass screen 'fabric' is perfect for vertically inclined cats. Or for cats who like to get stuck and cry about it, who then like to get stuck again. Or for bulldozing straight through like a cartoon character. Ask me how I know. There are screen doors that are maybe more LA that have a metal scroll work. Can be backed by screen 'fabric' or glass. Wood scroll work ones resemble room dividers. There are also slatted or louvered ones. Wood would look like a shutter or a closet door. And glass feels like Florida windows. (I never understood those as a concept, but ok)
The dress Mochipan sent Rachel fits her perfectly! Green goes well with red/orange hair because color theory, but also because everything looks good on Rachel.

He could be so happy and content and the lip getting caught makes it look like he's judging lol ... Also Poki's braincell works for food, not cabinets and I love that for him lol its adorable. One of my cats climbed into my old wall air conditioner and got stuck, upside down, for a couple of hours before we found him. Cue panicking to figure out how to get him out without hurting him. Absolutely ridiculous lmao I love that dress/top combo from Mochipan, it’s really stunning!

Quick cat tale: Poli has got nothing on my twin's cat, Dooley. Dooley disappeared for about 2-3 days. My sister, proactive and increasingly worried, felt that she ought to access the roof of her apartment--that Dooley's disappearance was connected to that area. She climbed out onto her back patio, and out onto the rooftop--calling, calling. No response. Acting on instinct, she approached the chimney stack belonging to a connecting property and looked down. Long way down. Darkness. (Dooley was a grey-brown, tiger-striped cat.) She decided to call out once more...and a pair of copper pennies appeared at the bottom. Dooley had opened his eyes, looking up at her! Covered with chimney soot, that cat had escaped notice, and was weak from lack of food and drink. HOW TO GET HIM?! Not as simple as your Poki rescue! The fireplace owners were not at home, so access that way was impossible. My twin lived close by the local fire department, and asked for an assist. Somehow, an obliging fireman was able to rig up a sling to bring Dooley back up to the surface . Talk about relieved! Happy-go-lucky Dooley was lucky, indeed. 🐈🐈⬛🐈
Here in the southern US, where it is also so humid, we tend to have slatted closet doors to allow air flow. Might be a good solution and they are often wood so you could stain it to match your house.
To solve the ventilation problem and the pokey getting behind cabinet problem considering getting a custom screen door made and put on that door frame so that when you have one door open you can have the screen door shut and pokey cannot get through it

I love the way you decorated the jail door! It looks super nice--I was honestly expecting some ivy and maybe fairy lights or something but the wood look is suuuuuper classy!
My suggestion is to install a screen door - $39 for Lowe's wooden ones. We installed 2 of them one going into my son's office and the other between my studio and guest room. That way we have total ventilation and keeping my 4 cats away from computers and tools. We also put hook fasteners so that the cats can't push the doors open, but you can install handles if you wish. We installed them ourselves and for the past 3 years they have done us well.
Dang it, Poki!!! ❤ and I thought the trash can was bad enough, but yeah. Also, Mejoo and cats with her husband did own that similar type, when they we’re introducing Adurey with the four male cats that they own for the last 12 years. So, yeah, nothing wrong of buying something to keep Poki out.

Yes! I have the geometric kind on a window that’s about 3m from my neighbor’s window and it’s great. Blocks the view, lets in the light

@marcup1584 Maybe frame out a shoji paper style door but use a smooth natural fabric instead to allow airflow?
Louvered door would work well. Decent ventilation but will block the view.
A traditional midwestern screen door with metal or fiberglass screen 'fabric' is perfect for vertically inclined cats. Or for cats who like to get stuck and cry about it, who then like to get stuck again. Or for bulldozing straight through like a cartoon character.

There are screen doors that are maybe more LA that have a metal scroll work. Can be backed by screen 'fabric' or glass. Wood scroll work ones resemble room dividers.
There are also slatted or louvered ones. Wood would look like a shutter or a closet door. And glass feels like Florida windows. (I never understood those as a concept, but ok)
The dress Mochipan sent Rachel fits her perfectly! Green goes well with red/orange hair because color theory, but also because everything looks good on Rachel.

not sure if it gets mentioned, but i absolutely LOVE when Nagi's lip gets caught on his tooth. It is so cute. He could be so happy and content and the lip getting caught makes it look like he's judging lol ... Also Poki's braincell works for food, not cabinets and I love that for him lol its adorable. Reminds me of when my cat that passed a few years ago would constantly get stuck in window blinds

Truly cats do not realize how lucky they are that we keep them around with all the shenanigans they get into, how much they test our patience, the lengths we go to in order to accommodate for them. These little guys are so cheeky but SO LOVED

One of my cats climbed into my old wall air conditioner and got stuck, upside down, for a couple of hours before we found him. Cue panicking to figure out how to get him out without hurting him. Absolutely ridiculous lmao

Quick cat tale: Poli has got nothing on my twin's cat, Dooley. Dooley disappeared for about 2-3 days. My sister, proactive and increasingly worried, felt that she ought to access the roof of her apartment--that Dooley's disappearance was connected to that area.
She climbed out onto her back patio, and out onto the rooftop--calling, calling. No response. Acting on instinct, she approached the chimney stack belonging to a connecting property and looked down. Long way down. Darkness. (Dooley was a grey-brown, tiger-striped cat.) She decided to call out once more...and a pair of copper pennies appeared at the bottom. Dooley had opened his eyes, looking up at her! Covered with chimney soot, that cat had escaped notice, and was weak from lack of food and drink.
HOW TO GET HIM?! Not as simple as your Poki rescue! The fireplace owners were not at home, so access that way was impossible. My twin lived close by the local fire department, and asked for an assist. Somehow, an obliging fireman was able to rig up a sling to bring Dooley back up to the surface . Talk about relieved! Happy-go-lucky Dooley was lucky, indeed. 🐈🐈⬛🐈

Here in the southern US, where it is also so humid, we tend to have slatted closet doors to allow air flow.
Might be a good solution and they are often wood so you could stain it to match your house.
To solve the ventilation problem and the pokey getting behind cabinet problem considering getting a custom screen door made and put on that door frame so that when you have one door open you can have the screen door shut and pokey cannot get through it

My suggestion is to install a screen door - $39 for Lowe's wooden ones. We installed 2 of them one going into my son's office and the other between my studio and guest room. That way we have total ventilation and keeping my 4 cats away from computers and tools. We also put hook fasteners so that the cats can't push the doors open, but you can install handles if you wish.
We installed them ourselves and for the past 3 years they have done us well.
