A big note that helped me do this a lot more consistently, your breathing matters a lot when doing this!! I find it helps greatly to breathe from the belly to find the right amount to have enough pressure to flap the tongue! (Not sure if this applies to everyone however)
As-salāmu ʿalaykum yā Ustadh. I wanted to ask whether the degree of Takrār or trilling is different depending on what diacritic is present on the ر? From what I could gather by listening to your recitation of the verses, it seemed to me that: 1. If ر has fatḥah, ḍammah, kasrah or tanwīn, and we pronounce them by continuing and not stopping on the ر, then there's almost no trilling. 2. If ر has a sukūn or we do Waqf on ر, then there's a medium amount of trilling. 3. If ر has a shaddah, then there's maximum amount of trilling. Is my assessment correct? Are we supposed to do it like this, or are we supposed to have an equal amount of trilling in all 3 cases? Yes, I agree with what you said. with #3 > shaddah means doubling the letter, so it makes sense that there's double the amount of trilling. with #2 > Yes, a sound with sukun is a pure consonant sound, so you should give it the medium trilling. With #1 > agreed too. Indeed, we certainly aren't supposed to give the same trilling for all variations. Each position adds or removes some of the characteristics of the sound to a degree. For the full mouthed letter, lift the back of your tongue towards the roof of your mouth, and purse your lips slightly. For the empty mouthed one, keep the back of your tongue low and your lips relaxed.
