  • Cleaning Vintage Jewelry. Today I’m going to show the different methods I use for cleaning pieces of vintage costume jewelry. I will also show how I remove verdigris/ the unsightly green gunk that can get on pieces of jewelry.
    Please watch the content all the way through as some of these methods will not work with rhinestones.

    You clean using the same old good methods I grew up on as a farm child. Gentle, effective and thorough. PS. Verdigris is pronounced “vurr-di-greee” - s is silent. You are one of my favorite collectors!

    Thank you for this vid! I hate verdigris, and I pass on pieces that have it because I don’t want any spread on any other of my jewelry! Excited to try your methods that obviously seem to work in future.

      @VintageVariety  Рік тому +1

      Your correct Shannon. I didn’t clean it during the content. Many of my subscribers do not like for my content to run too long so I skipped that pieces but it’s the same method to clean that piece. Thank you for watching 😊❤️❤️❤️

    I have about 2 to 3 lbs of nice costume jewelry and I am afraid to clean the pieces.
    Some have semi precious stones and pearls.
    Any advice?

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Рік тому +4

      If they have semi precious stones or pearls then I would highly recommend having them professionally cleaned by a jeweler. Profesional cleaning isn’t as expensive as you would think. I would call around and get a few estimates. Hope this helps ❤️❤️❤️

      Hi Aimee, I’m not a fan of the ultrasonic cleaner. It works okay on fine jewelry but not so much for costume. 😊❤️❤️❤️

    • @VintageVariety
      @VintageVariety  Рік тому +1

      Hi GirlJayme have you considered having it professionally cleaned? Most jewelers will provide cleaning for a small service, especially if it’s done in precious metals.

    Putting stranded beads in tomato sauce is a BAD idea. You can see how the sauce has discolored the cord that the beads are strung on.
