Something I have to add on passing of the title from one person to the next. The ritual of this, as you said, is done by way of killing the previous one by the new one, but this ritual is done in secret. The reason for the ritual is threefold: 1. To pass a new leader. 2. To sate the blade. 3. To create an illusion. The first is self-explanatory. The second, is because the sword the leader of the Manji clan uses has been essentially cursed by Soul Edge, and killing the each previous master sates the blade's hunger. The third, when a new leader is chosen, that person is to not only pass to themselves the name, and the blade, but also the personality and mannerisms of "Yoshimitsu." Since, the ritual is performed in secret, and each new leader acts exactly like the previous leader, it gives the illusion that Yoshimitsu is essentially an ageless being. So, essentially, lore-wise, the Yoshimitsu in Tekken 7 has exactly the same personality and mannerisms as the first Yoshimitsu in the Manji clan's history.
@@deleteduser1877 Yes, and no. It would be more like the passing down of the previous one's history to the successor. Just as you or me might be told about stories or past exploits of our ancestors. It would be more important in the Manji clan, however, because when the successor is being told these stories, it is more of a guide on how the persona of Yoshimitsu is supposed to act to help keep up the facade.
@@deleteduser1877 Even in the lore, they do not tell us that information, which would make sense. Think about it. If the goal within the clan is to give the illusion that Yoshimitsu is essentially an ageless being, then the process would be largely unrecorded as this is done in secret. All we are told is that when a new leader is chosen, he is trained to act with the personality and mannerisms of Yoshimtsu, and at the end, the successor kills the predecessor in order to keep the Yoshimitsu sword from going out of control and leads the clan as Yoshimitsu. It is not so far fetched. Shinobi sometimes have to masquerade as other types of people. Like a monk, or vagrant. That is actually a real shinobi skill to be trained to put on another persona. Now, even though we do not have the information of how many times, I have a small theory.
I'm impressed that you didn't even point out that the 2nd Yoshimitsu, apparently also had lost his right arm, and replaced it with a wooden arm. That both the 1st and 2nd Yoshimitsu, apparently lost their right arm, is something that should be worth mentioning.
Yoshimitsu the second lost his right arm because the magic within the sword began to eat away at his arm when the second grabbed it before exclaiming he was the heir which calmed the sword.
Sam Bishop, I don't remember it being said that he lost his arm to the Katana(Yoshimitsu). So while your explanation can seem plausible, I to my knowledge wouldn't say that it is confirmed. Can't remember the specific info from the game, but looked it up and this is what I found: "He reached out and gripped the sword. The flames licked at his hand, but his voice did not waver as he called out: "I am Yoshimitsu the Second! Calm thyself!" The flames subsided; the sword had accepted him as the new Yoshimitsu." Doesn't really seem to confirm that he lost his armto the katana, so if you have some specific sources or something, then I would like to see them. Since, while flames are bad, saying that "The flame licked his hand" doesn't really translate to "Arm loosing"-injury, at least not in my book.
Maybe, there are many things in both games that kind of implies that they might be connected in some ways, but due to a few of inconsistencies throughout both games, it's kind of hard to tell.
I think they are part of the same universe, here they confirm that the yoshimitsu in scV isn't the same as the original yoshimitsu. Also would explain why there's a yoshimitsu in the present time. Plus there's a graphity in one of the tekken game's stage that says *soul blade*. I'm not sure if that's enough. Another thing is that when yoshimitsu's blade got tainted seems to be present in yoshimitsu from tekken. So they might be connected.
maybe soulcalibur is the spiritual encestor of the first iron fist turniment at like the year 1056 or something. maybe that evil sword that the first yoshimtsu had is actually the beggining of the devil gene and then in 1994 when the first iron fist turniment had beggun the manji party was a bunch of fanboys that liked the idea of giving money to the poor and there leader was a guy that found the aincient blade deep down the deapths descovered the histroy behind the Manji clan and became Yoshimitsu.
Looking forward to the history of Tits McGee. Also, where's the history of how Yoshimitsu can heal himself by jackin it on the floor, or how he thought to fly with his sword so high that he starts to kill himself and then *actually* kills himself by midair seppeku and letting his body become a helicopter of death to crash and burn on his enemy for massive damage? Anyway, he's a beautiful man.
That explains why he called himself yoshimitsu the second and I was all what ever happened to yoshimitsu the first And now that you told me that explains everything thx
Yoshimitsu was losing control of the sword because he was too old and that was why he had to pass the name to a younger warrior...the story in scv is just when the 2nd yoshimitsu takes control of the sword...and no he doesnt hold the head of the 1st yoshimitsu its just the mask...its preety obvious there is no head behind the mask...i dont think the 2nd yoshimitsu would be so twisted because he wouldnt be a member in maji in first place
Im not sure about this, but i remember a very specific line between voldo and Yoshimitsu, saying, "I will avenge you predecesor!" therefore i believed, voldo killed first yoshimitsu. am i wrong?
I searched this to see why Yoshimitsu is in Soul Calibur not as a guest character but a regular one, I realized Tekken and Soul Calibur is with Namco so they could import him without issue and lore.
I think yoshimitsu should be the one out to kill Tira as the story goes on it would be awsome to see these two charaecters to have bone to pick with another.
I wonder...Can the Soul Calibur universe and the Tekken universe be the same universe? They take place in different time periods, and Yoshimitsu is also in Tekken. Additionally, perhaps Soul Edge could have corrupted the Mishima family bloodline creating the Devil gene that is harnessed by both Kazuya and Jin in the Tekken series. Food for thought.

Both the 1st and the 2nd Yoshimitsu from the Soul-series, should be human. Though them being aliens, demons or anything like that, can't be completely ruled out.
