- Well it's about time I made an update from the previous video now that SO much more has been found in this incredible game! And there's still lots more to be discovered yet! Please note as this is not 100% in chronological order. Big shoutout and thanks to all the folk at the Dinosaur Planet discord for their hard work. Enjoy!
Thank you and credit to MusicalProgrammer for some of the scenes in this video including the end Drakor scenes, Willow Grove Mutant, some of the Kamerian Heart boss scenes and others.
Man, it still bums me out what could've been for this game. The lore presented here will always be 100x more interesting than what was eventually placed in the final build.
While I love Star Fox Adventures I think the story in this game is so much better and it also has a darker and somber tone which makes it even more engaging.
@@matthewbuckley7757 Especially because this version would have given them more creative control
@@ilikethecokev2 It would have been one of Rare’s best games
@@matthewbuckley7757 I bet with mods a fan expansion cam be made.
Apparently fans have been hard at work and thanks to them the game might actually be finished soon
This N64 prototype has some of the best landscapes and sky boxes I have ever seen.
Really makes you realize what was lost to gaming when Nintendo sold Rare. Rare probably could have made them ten times what Microsoft bought them for in the long term.
Man Playtonic should make a game like this for Steam and Switch, A 3D Zelda like adventure with dinosaurs and the soundtrack by David Wise would be a absolute win.
Now you're talking!
Rare still exists... They make games...
Does everyone just forget sea of thieves?
@@GUNUFofficialYeah, but Playtonic is made up of the people who worked for Rare back in the good old days.
I love how the majority of this contains near-complete cutscenes, while some of the cutscenes are still very bare bones. Just goes to show the dedication Rare had for making video games during this time period, considering they wrote the story as they developed the damn game. It's just a darn shame the ending was never actually developed. 90% of the game is in this build basically, which is a hell of alot considering how other Alpha builds of video games will have significantly less content than this has. (Yes, I'm looking at you Conker Twelve Tales)
If Rare ever makes a grand return (one can dream), I'd love if they went back to develop this game again. Make it the way it was intended, but with up to date visuals.
Two big problems:
-1: all similar elements from both games will prevent them to use them again because of copyrights (Krazoas, Scales, Drakor are in Star fox adventures and so owned by Nintendo, as well as Tricky, Krystal and Dinosaur Planet who also appeared in Star fox Assault)
-2: Rare changed too much and isn't anymore like before: makes sequels of their old franchises doesn't interest them anymore too
1:30:22 Ahh, I've been waiting to see what this clip looked like. I just love Chris Seavors voice of Chief Lightfoot in this build. He's quite the character.
1:32:30 I hope we find those someday, that area sounds quite fascinating with the dialogue exchanged between characters there. It also looks and has similar vibes to the Elephant Graveyard from Lion King. Plus I'm curious to discover what music track David Wise made for this area.
Blackwater's unfortunately really unfinished in this build. Aside from the area itself and the voiced lines, there's literally only a functional log in it and no models. Shame, since I think it's the coolest area cut in SFA.
@@avalanchemkii7506 The models may not be in the level, but they might still be in the code. Has anymore stuff been found in it that doesn't seem to be present in the game now?
@@BlazeHeartPanther I'm pretty sure all the models have been ripped for a while now and there's not much for Blackwater. You should definitely check out the community Discord if you want to stay in the loop.

"Krystal, hurry! My magic powers are making me dance really weirdly!"
The cutscenes where the thorntail ask for fish comes immediately after darkice mines, where you would have to trade a fish for a log to flume down to diamond bay.
This is so cool! Thank you so much for this!!
Damn, it's so cool to see this, but at the same time I low key wish I didn't know about it, because now I'm just sad it's such a cool game that'll never be finished
I dream of the day I can buy a hacked n64 cart of this and play the game on original hardware from start to finish as originally intended
Shigeru Miyamoto: *"It's free real estate"*
Alot of people like demonize him, and Nintendo over the whole Dinosaur Planet thing, but the truth is, according to former Rare employees, they weren't "forced" to change the game. Miyamoto just calmly offered them to use the StarFox series for their game (after noticing how similar Saber looked to Fox McCloud) and because they liked StarFox 64, and saw benefits in adding sci-fi elements, and had to remake the game for GameCube anyway, (because the N64 was being phased out for the GameCube) they went ahead. Some do wonder if they should of kept it as Dinosaur Planet instead.
Also, the Microsoft buyout of Rare unfortunately hurried the late development of the game, so they didn't get to put in as many dungeons and stuff as they wanted.
This is incredible!
Does anyone know how close someone is to restoring the files so the game can run as intended?
Not very. Probably never will be. People are just digging around for fun, there is no aim to restore it completely
@@KOTEBANAROT not really, the dinosaur planet finders club is trying to decompile the game so that can be possible plus they already got the intro and options menu working through dinopatch 2.4 so i guess its possible in the future that they might get this game working once they find all all the files for it
The most likely outcome is that the ROM will be FULLY datamined/decompiled and "fixed up" to the best of modder's abilities but it won't ever be a final end product that you may have seen on a store shelf in an alternate timeline. There will probably be a mod menu built in to teleport you to the next area of the map, or ductape fixes will be added to essentially do the same. Most of the game is finished, but there is no ending at all. The ending simply wasn't made although a few prototype writeups exist but don't fit the story that we got in the ROM. It's likely that once the ROM is "patched" as much as it can be, someone will just use the assets to port the game to a different engine and remake it for PC. I don't think an emulator mod with a fan made ending is too likely, but it is possible. Due to the nature of how ROMs were coded and compiled, a complete engine port is (unbelievably) a lot easier. A lot of unreachable areas, puzzles, and cutscenes have been found by modders but you can't really play them in the ROM. It will likely just be ported in to something more stable but that's years away from now. A guy called Hugo Peters already ported the entire map into his own bespoke game engine, so although it's no guarantee, people do care about this game and are looking at ways of breathing life into it.
@@USERWASBANNED Where can i find this Hugo Peters
JUst imagine if they would actually completed this game. I bet it would be the BEST Adventure game on the system
Probably also the most sluggish, from what I've seen, as it seemingly tended to make the hardware lag something fierce at times
Then again it's an unfinished product, so they might have been able to refine that had they continued to work on it
Unfortunately, by the time it would be done the GameCube would of already been out, and likely not many would buy N64 games by then.
It's why Paper Mario, and Conker unfortunately got ignored by gamers until years later when they became cult classics.
The problem with Conker was also very poor marketing. Nintendo refused to advertise the game. It was even published by THQ, not Nintendo. It was placed in Playboy magazines for example. Yeah Iam sure MANY N64 players read the Playboy xD@@beauwalker9820
That's very nice well done bud, but the cutscenes are still have more to do.
1:42:05 Oof... Well doesn't that suck. For Scaley, at least. Though it also kinda sucks you never get to fight him.
1:43:10 Such a sad moment fell into...OMG HE GLITCHIN OUT
I'm thinking about doing a playthrough on starfox adventures, hope it's cool if I use clips of these cutscenes to make it more interesting
1:34:33
1:41:55 This cutscene has music in the files, but it's not in this video. Same with the clip right after it, and a few more cutscenes like the Drakor ones.
35:09 is so funny
This game would have been so trippy.
1:19:11 Is it possible to get those scenes onward to work normally in game. As playing through the game up to that point doesn't seem to trigger them.
I’m planning on remodeling this with Unreal Engine
Hope it goes well 💎
With better Star Fox Adventures models?
@@dachgum Yeah. Probably
Nice video but why haven’t you used dinomod?
What is the dino mod?
I mean I've been looking for some patched or stable version to play the ROM ;( I don't know if with dino mod you mean that hahaha
@@linroud3552 Its a patched version of Dinoasuar Planet.
@@linroud3552 It is not a full restored patch. The coder/moder are trying to solve the issues step by step.
Did fox just howl like wolf
Wolf O'Donnell: Mah Man!
1:35:34 bug krystal
Yo! how'd did you get that cutscene @55:25 without Thread 4 crashing?!
Hey, where is the ending?
The ending wasn't made in this version of the rom so will likely never know how it was originally suppose to end.
@@justlikethesimulations9213 yeah... We'll never know if the Krazoa really are evil or not... Even though it's pretty heavily implied.
@@Mike14264 well there is voice acting for it, including for the ending. In it the Krazoa talk about spread death and destruction across the universe
@@PlagueDoctor-rv9pd ok, wow. Heavily implied my ass, it's practically directly told to you. From what I understood, these lines were actually after Drakor was (supposedly) defeated, and Sabre had to race, not to return the last spirit and allow the alignment of the Majestic 8, but to stop it! A bit different from what the condensed story lets you in.
@@justlikethesimulations9213 There's pieces of the original ending found in Star Fox Adventures' data. It seems to imply that Krystal and Kyte had to sacrifice themselves in order to save the Planet after defeating the Krazoa.
Yayyyyyyyyyy
Gotta say…. Krystal is much hotter in the final version 😂😂
Surprisingly, that was Miyamoto's idea, because he wanted StarFox to have a slightly more mature tone. So we have him to thank for the blue babe.
She is…if only we could’ve played as her for longer.
Is there an ending to this game?
It was sadly never finished. One can assume the planet was saved, Saber may have gotten to meet Krystal in person, talked and eventually returned to his world, while Krystal may have very well been stuck on the planet forever or would try and find a new way to return to her world.
This is all speculation on my part but i can imagine it would go more or less like what I said.
Nintendo screwed Krystal over big time.
It wasn't entirely their fault, as Rare has some blame too, and Microsoft for buying Rare.
At least, they regard her in the new Smash Brothers game as an assist, and she gets to kick butt finally.
@@beauwalker9820 It was a bitter pill to swallow since I hoped she would’ve been playable…but I had it coming since I was still laughing at Waluigi…
Naaa bikini Krystal was way better
