The blood knot is NOT the strongest, although the strength is better than that of the double uni knot (according to the Saltstrong tests) and it it's got a more streamlined profile than the double uni knot. However, the downside is that the braid can slip.

@@chriscarrow1044 Many tests seem to favour the FG knot. My problem with it is that I've used it as a shock-leader knot, which means it travels through the rod guides. Eventually a knock of the smaller guides opens the knot, causing the loss of leader and terminal tackle.
