RE: the two stages of click, many pinball machines have what are called "staged flippers", where you can push the button half way down to trigger the bottom flippers, and all the the way to trigger the top flippers. This lets you cradle balls on the bottom flippers while going crazy on the upper playfield during multiball. Crazy they included that!

I got so nostalgic watching LGRs videos that I changed my laptop's theme to Classic and turned down the resolution so it looks ridiculously retro (well not truly retro but I grew up with Windows 98 and XP computers so it looks like childhood to me).

You've found the *real* nightmare-mode for Doom 2: playing the entire game with this thing alone. God, it was painful just watching you try.
Waaaaaay gimickie, but memorable in its look and purpose. Something that could only have come from the pinball craze of the early to mid 90s.

It's kind of funny that I watched this last week and a few days later I found this exact same set complete and unused at a thrift store, instantly bought it of course.
Only differences I can see with the contents is that I had a 2nd install guide with the contents looking different, the disc wasn't in a jewel case but in a paper sleeve and to "stick" it on the keyboard there is an unused set of velcro stickers as well.

I never knew that the "3D space pinball" that came with a few of my computers was actually taken from a maxis game. I think it came with Windows me and maybe xp. The me I actually still have, its a Compaq. I'll have to boot it up and see what it has on it. Unfortunately, on my xp machine, the hard drive is all but dead, and I think I took it out to see if I could plug it in to my gaming PC, but I didn't realize that it wasn't comparable with the new SATA standard. It was a dell, so it also could just be some proprietary connection to make you stick with them...

  • @TangoBunnie

Ah! I had one of these! I only really used it for like... a week though, because my keyboard was too heavy/noisy to use the tilt things much (because it would make loud banging sounds on my desk), and I remember them coming off real easily too, so they felt really loose. It's a great idea for a peripheral though, it just was too awkward for me to use!

1:55 Royal Flush was one of my all-time favorite pinball sims! It was just the one game, but it was a faithful simulation of an old real-life Gottlieb table from the 1970s. The Mac version had been commissioned and then canceled by Broderbund, and the developers released it as shareware. I played the heck out of that thing at the time.

I remember having this when i was young. If I remember right, my friend had bought one too. At the time it seemed very realistic. We used to buy failed/failing peripherals and game systems when we were kids. I remember saving up money and buying a Game.com. Also a VirtualBoy... and an Atari Jaguar. I still think the VirtualBoy was the coolest failed technology I bought. I probably still have it in a box somewhere.
