Born in LA in 1965, I was 7 when they won their first chip in LA. I have fuzzy memories of that team with Wilt and West. They have won 11 more in my lifetime. A total of 12. I want them to win it every year but I'm happy to have seen them win so much during my life- I'll die a happy Lakers fan... but I'd sure like to see them ahead of the Celtics in the all time count. As I write this, the Lakers and Celtics franchises are tied with a total of 17 crowns each. My last wish is for the Lakers to be ahead of the Celtics before I pass...

Seattle went into rebuild mode in the late 1980s and traded their draft pick for Gerald Henderson in 1984. At the time Seattle was still a playoff team but then started dismantling the roster.
About 6 weeks later after the Lakers lost to Houston, the famous broadcaster chick heard, His daughter passed away, so it was meant to be that the Lakers were eliminated
That actually happened in 1990 after the Phoenix elimination. Chick asked the fans to say a prayer for her during the broadcast. She may have been in the hospital at that point.
The superteam era killed the NBA instead of players competing against one another they started teaming up with one another to form Superteams in their prime. Also, the game has become too corporate and less about the sport. This was the true golden era of basketball.

Magic Johnson is the Best PG of all time & I love the showtime lakers!

Celtics and Lakers were the two greatest dynasties of the 1980s. Five for the Lakers and three for the Celtics.
Imagine the team that just won the championship being able to add Len Bias to the team for the next season.
@@floydbanks173 If it wasn't for Len Bias death, The Celtics would've been a deep team. Probably could've won a few more NBA Finals.
@@marvinwhittaker And give or take, 5 or 6 years later, the cycle repeats itself when they lost Reggie Lewis.
@@floydbanks173 Reggie Lewis was good. Also with the addition of Dee Brown, Rick Fox, Ed Bagley, Sherman Douglas.
The 1987 Lakers team is , without any doubt , the best basketball team of all time ; Look at how they demolished a sensational Boston team !
They showed the highlights of this series here in the uk .It was like watching sport from another galaxy. ..brilliant!
I bought this VHS tape in the eighty’s. Great team!
First sign of not having Len Bias destroying the Celtics reign in this year's finals.
Yeah it is unfortunate that the investment in Bias never panned out. It is truly the case of WHAT IF.
One of the biggest “what ifs” in league history IMO. Bias could ball like a mad man.
