This 68 year old geezer has been Rockin' out forever (since the mid 60's) and I've heard it all. I know everyone misses Adam, and so do I, but Matt is one hell of a vocalist. Three Days Grace just has that unmistakable sound that separates them from the others. Great, catchy melodies and that killer guitar. Rock On!!!!

I know most people think 3DG won't be the same without Adam Gontier, but as a longtime fan of 3DG I disagree.
I mean it's heartbreaking that Adam won't be with the band anymore, but after listening to this song, I don't thing that 3DG will miss a single step. In fact I'd say that the new lead singer could be just as successful as Adam was since the songs are being written with a heavier, more aggressive-sounding vibe that really fits Matt Walst's style.
So I know that some people may disagree with me, but that's where I stand with this. Take it or leave it!!!!!

He can definitely hold his own with "the greats" of metal aka Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickenson and so on..... Shoulda heard the notes he was holding and there would be no question.

I've seen them live with Matt and he's a terrible live performer, he was even in My Darkest Days. I do like his voice in the studio though, but would not pay to see him live.

Three Day Grace has ALWAYS been my favourite band, since '08. I loved each album they produced, Three Days Grace, One-X, Life Starts Now, Transit of Venus, so on... And to hear this song, I can definitely hear the THREE DAYS GRACE in this one. The singer didn't make the band worse, no. Just alternate it.
I'll admit... I do miss Adam, and the songs he wrote were my favourites, too. It's a great shame for the band, but it was his decision.
Nothing else we can do, but whine and b!tch, or appreciate that TDG is still on their way. I'm looking forward for the album.

Agreed! I've seen 3DG in concert twice. Once with Adam & once with Matt. I was skeptical at first but was absolutely blown away by how well Matt did. He was every bit as good as Adam if not BETTER live.

listening to this for the first time i can imagine exactly what Adam would sound like if he had sung it instead. the lyrical style is exactly like Adam's. I think this may have been a song they had already written before he left the band, then they just rerecorded vocals (they did say they had half the album done before having to replace Adam). This guy doesn't sound bad but I can still hear Adam's voice in my head listening to this and it would sound better.

No matter how good of a replacement the new guy was, there was always going to be people not willing to give him a chance because they couldn't imagine watching it without Charlie Sheen.

Adam, was a great singer. But Matt Walst is really just as good! Just give the singer a chance to be in this awesome group! This song made it up to the top in the rock charts for me this year and Matt did good being the Adam Gontier of this song! To everyone talking about Adam and Matt. I'm sorry to say, but Adam is definitely NOT coming back. He said it in some of his tweets. They just went to far downhill in transit of venus. He left the band because he felt that the songs they made in transit of venus for "for money not for the music" aka the songs were just to make money and not actually music from the heart. Adam likes making real music with real meaning and I don't blame him for leaving. (in my opinion, most of transit of venus is pretty bad) Just to clear some things up for some people arguing.
I think Adam leaving and Matt coming in brings so much potential for the band. i like Adam, but with Matt they can explore their options a bit more. If Adam was still here, I couldn't see them doing a song like Painkiller. and Painkiller is great, especially compared to ToV.

once you lose a member the whole band changes.. music sound the same cause no one left! but the singing totally throws me off... the front man at the endif the day is who really makes the band. people notice the voice more so than the instruments.

The band is dead for me without Adam. I grew up listening to TDG, they were my fav band and a big part of my life, so maybe for you it's just a band that changed its singer, but for some people it's a much bigger deal than what you think and you should respect it.
***** I'm with u on half n half. I am a TDG fan, as well as Adam Goniter when he went solo few years back. But Matt Walst is doing it good enough for me to give them a try. Long as they keep their own type of music up i can deal with it. I was already a MDD fan, but if they turn to that type beat of music i'll have to jump of the TDG bandwagon as they were never anything like MDD. They were their own type of band, and i hope they take Matt and grow with it.
***** When a band replaces a guitar player, a drummer or a bassist...most people won't blink an eye at it or even notice the difference (unless you play yourself). When you replace a singer especially one that has been with the band since the beginning, it's tricky and most often then not ends up in failure. Two prime examples are Fuel and I Mother Earth (for you canadian fans). Fuel without Brent Scallions was a disaster. His voice was irreplaceable. I Mother Earth without Edwin was also a disaster. They were nowhere near as popular without him. TDG without Adam? I don't see it lasting. Adam's next project will be more popular whatever that is. I'm not feeling his vocals at all. They sound....emo.

While this isn't bad, it's not the same as the older stuff. I'll listen to it, but not as often. As for bands having their lead singers leave, Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf left the band and they brought in someone who is far too poppy and doesn't have the same power that Lacey had.

Fun Fact: Three Days Grace wrote Painkiller while they were on tour.

Three Days Grace were the reason I started to love music,and they still are.I love Adam and im pissed off and miserable cause he just packed his bags and left,and everybody knows that change isnt easy,i mean Adam was in the band ever since its creation,but you cant do anything about it.It was Adams choice and we have to respect it,just stop whining about it.It isnt easy on Matt either,he has pretty big shoes to fill.We need to give him a chance,he deserves it.
Source? He didn't pack his bags and "just leave". He left due to medical reasons. Only reason I'm a little salty about the situation is because they replaced him the day he announced he was leaving.
They had to make a quick move,and Matt was always close by so..
Joe Tayfel They didn't replace him right away. They needed someone to finish the tour with, and Matt was there. And besides, Adam wanted them to continue on with the band, so they were obviously going to replace him at some point.

That was the official reason at first, but ultimately, Adam released a statement that he was "inspired by life to move on and continue to evolve on my own terms." The band also revealed afterward that when Adam quit, he did so via email through his lawyer and when they tried to call him, he just said, "My decision is final." He left on Dec 21. For some reason they waited 2 weeks to announce it and also say they would keep going and have Matt fill in for tour dates. They "replaced" him, but he up and left them holding the bag. They could either disband or move forward, they chose the latter. If you don't believe me, Google "Three days grace adam leaves" there are a ton of articles from when this story broke, cuz it was a big deal.

Ah yes, the good times I still have in 2020. Although i was born 3 years before one X released, since 4 years old, yes u heard me right, I fuckin said 4 years old, always listened to Three Days Grace. And I still do to this day. May God bless them all and curse all of those who say Three Days Grace is for freaks.

Adam left to work on some things in his personal life after coming out of rehab. It's not really "his loss", he just needed time away from recording and touring it seems.

I saw them live in 2015 and was Amazing! I always wanted to see Adam sing still do but after that night I love Matt's voice! Very rare to replace your singer with a better singer and I think Adam is Great so bottomline Amazing FN band
