Gregg’s Drill Bit Testing!

We put 3 popular drill bits to the test to see which one would be crowned the best quality drill bit. Our drill press was used to test Cobalt Steel, Ultra Cut Gold and Viking Vortex bits, drilling through 1/4-inch steel with equal force throughout this experiment. After about 30 holes through metal, a standard bit will start losing its bite and will need to be resharpened or tossed.
The Viking Vortex bit reached 120 holes while showing no signs of slowing down, stopping, or even quality loss. Also, don’t let the price point scare you, as the cost per hole will actually be cheaper and productivity will be higher with this premium bit.
