This was very enlightening for sure! Thank you sharing!
I want to share two of my most favorite Finnish idioms. "Nousta väärällä jalalla" to rise up or get up from the bed with wrong foot. Meaning: that the person is very annoyed or angry in the morning and everything goes wrong. (similar in English would be: get up from wrong side of the bed.) Another one is: "Takki auki" meaning having one's jack open. Meaning: Approaching demanding task without any type of preparation and with careless attitude.

Ah amazing! Yes very similar to the English saying of getting up on the wrong side of the bed.

Interesting that we have the same idioms in English but with different meanings, like, 'walking on eggshells' means you're trying not to annoy someone who is easily annoyed, so you're stepping very lightly.

You’re so right! It’s one thing for slang to make their way but wonder how entire phrases do the same?

Really funny stuff, but I had to stop half way through. I kept forgetting what you were talking about. Really should have the English expression always on screen. I love idioms!
