Lancashire Mining Museum, Astley Green Colliery

A wonderful collection of road steam engines came along to Astley Green Colliery, in an event organised by the Lancashrie Traction Engine Club and the Red Rose Steam Society Ltd. The event featured steam traction engines, steam rollers and lorries, miniature steam engines, vintage tractors and live museum. The sites railway was in operation with a resident Hunslet diesel on passenger trains while resident steam locomotive O&K 'Utrillas' (formerly of the West Lancashire Light Railway, Hesketh Bank) was puffing up and down awaiting for enough crews to be passed on before it can haul passenger trains.

Wonderful that these testaments to our industrial heritage have been preserved for future generations.
It is poetry in motion watching steam rollers/traction engines just slowly rotating .
Never heard of that Museum before. Good to see a WLLR loco on its travels!
Utrillas is now based there I am a volunteer at the west Lancashire light railway she isnt a wllr resident any more
Looks like it was a brilliant event, next time I’m up Astley Green way I’ll have to have a look around.
Also I think I recognise that wooden pit head gear and maroon Land Rover from somewhere!
