In today’s video I describe the projects I am currently working on, as well as the plans I have for others in the coming months. I’ll get back to quilting in February, but for now it’s all about knitting. Finishing a vest (that was supposed to be a sweater), making a beanie for myself, and starting a lopapeysa with one of Yuha Knitting’s patterns that I have done before.
And, yes, I did criticize other YTers for the way the speak in their videos. I’m not perfect. Never said I was. Just would like to hear people actually speak without constant pausing, and definitely without using “like” every other word. Ok, off my soapbox…
In 2025 I commit to finishing every project I start, complete any leftovers from 2024 (one quilt, a couple of knitting projects), and then focus on selling what I make so that I can purchase a small table top loom for learning weaving.
If you are interested in seeing what I have available for purchase, go to GoImagine.com/mishkalarsoncreations. *Please keep in mind that all sales are final - if you have any questions about a product, please contact me via email at mishkalarson@gmail.com prior to making a purchase.
Below is a list of the patterns I’ve been using as well as some that I plan to use over the next couple of months. Some are free, others are for a small price on Ravelry. As I complete the projects, I’ll show them here on UA-cam if, and will post them on my GoImagine account if they are for sale.
    1. Cable Vest (that started off as a sweater): Highway 61 Pullover pattern by Jennifer Owens @jenowensknits229 - I found this pattern in an Interweave volume. You can still find the pattern on Interveave.com, and the artist has notes about the pattern on her Ravelry account. I used Patons Classic Worsted, which is now discontinued at Joann, but may be available at Michael’s and via sellers on Etsy and Ravelry. I have a stash of this yarn, so will use it up for other sweaters, hats, etc. until I run out. Haven’t found a supplier for a similar yarn that doesn’t break the bank.
    2. Lopapeysa (Icelandic style sweater): Cold Fish Sweater pattern by Nazilia Zemdikhanova ‪@yuhaknitting‬it is available on her Ravelry account. I highly recommend any of her designs - they knit up perfectly every time. I used Joann’s Buttercream (now branded K+C), which is now discontinued at Joann, but may be available via sellers on Etsy and Ravelry. You can substitute Istex Lettlopi, Hobbii Snowstorm, or another yarn that will give you the same result. Going forward I will use up my stash of K+C and Happy Sheep wool (also discontinued from Hobbii) and will continue to look for suppliers for when I run out.
    3. Yolk Sweater (Scandinavian): Sweetheart Sweater pattern by Linnea Ornstein @linneaornstein4168 - it is available on her Ravelry account. I also recommend her patterns, since they are also spot on and easy to follow. For this one I added a simple heather charted pattern to the cuffs and bottom of the sweater to capture a bit of my Scot heritage and used those colors throughout the Sweetheart chart.
    4. Beanie: Washington Beanie pattern by Nancy Bates - it is available on her site at NancyBatesDesigns.com and on her Ravelry account at Nancy Bates. I have not knit any of her patterns yet, but they look easy to follow. She also offers kits that include the pattern and the yarn. I’ll be using Patons Evermore (discontinued at Joann, but may be available via Etsy or Ravelry sellers), Local Grown (available at Joann), and some Patons Classic Worsted from my stash. I chose this particular pattern because I was born and raised in the great state of Washington, although I call Hawaii my second home and now live in California. Washington will always be my home!
    5. Kroy Socks: Kroy Sock Yarn pattern PAK0128-012438M - This yarn is readily available at Joann, but since they seem to be phasing out high quality wool to make space for basic acrylic yarns, you may have to find it elsewhere. I purchased enough to make a pare of boot socks for my son - one of the colors in this variegated yarn matched the cardigan I just finished making for him (that is a whole video in and of itself…).
