The role fits likes glove! She has the exact right sound for this music. Brilliant the way she moves from dramatic to lyric, forte to piano. Silvery tops and good but subtle chest voice at the bottom. And her emotional detail to the text - her 'r' at the end of the phrases reminds me of Freni. Appro pos - not since Freni have I heard this so perfectly sung. It just sounds "right". Congratulations!
@@draganvidic2039 this role does not require a dramatic soprano - it requires a special or individual timbre or vocal color. Dramatic sopranos generally dont have the capabilities for the extremely lyric phrases of this role (and there are many).
@@draganvidic2039Personal preference doesn't necessitate a vocal demand. The orchestra isn't low enough nor loud enough to "need" a dramatic soprano. I'd say a big lyric/spinto is the probsbly the best choice for this role. Eboli belongs to the dramatic sopranos: she's quite a bit lower, and has many dramatic moments in the lower portion of her voice.
Just saw the whole "Don Carlo" at German-French TV Arte - and was so stunned by this performance that I had to search for more. I'm really moved by this interpretation - it is fabulous!
Garbage -- except for a moderately attractive voice. Good basic instrument. She sounds tired though. -- The "scenery or "Das Buehenbild" is awful! Wo denkt Ihr denn hint?? Ich wuerde niemals Karten zu dieser "Vorstellung" kaufen! Aufwachen/wake up!
Thank you so much for posting. I'm a young dramatic soprano. It's really hard to start a carreer, but you keep me on my path. You are a role model for me. So thank you! Great singing! Your pianos are wonderful. ❤
I only started to appreciate opera again earlier this year and decided to see one at the Met in NYC in May. Soon after that I discovered Asmik’s work AND that I just missed her performance in Madam Butterfly at the Met. I’m kicking myself for that bit of bad timing but I hope to gain a much better understanding of the major works by the time I do get to see her perform. She is such a good actress on top of her amazing vocal work.
You are so incredibly talented. Your musicality and expressivity, every thought is mirrored in your eyes. And the sheer beauty of your voice! I get goosebumps every time I listen to you - this is so rare...❤
Very few sopranos today can sing this role. Asmik Grigorian is not one of them. The sopranos who can do it have bodies that are too bulky, which stage directors don't like.
I watched this in the live stream. When it came to this scene I was overwhelmed by Asmiks fantastic performance. I expected a lot but not this. Still have goosebumps. Congrats! It is a pitty that some people did not understand and disliked the modern staging of Serebrennikow. For my taste this staging was very interesting, thoroughly concepted and gave an additional depth to this piece. All singers were fantastic and of course Jordan was great on the baton with the Vienna Philharmonics.
I did think the staging was interesting, but in the final analysis not entirely successful......I liked the idea of setting it in a Museum of Costume, as it explored the constricting and imprisoning nature of the way royalty were expected to dress.....but the attempt to extend the metaphor through the whole opera didn'r really work. Nothing wrong with the music, though!
@@operacat1 Especially in this scene the metaphor comes out strongly as Elisabetta stripes off the clothes and throws it into the container. This gives Asmik once more the opportunity to show her convincing acting skills. The metaphor might been a little over stressed here and there in the piece, but over all I liked it. Great job of the tailors who re-sewed the original clothes in countless hours of work.
And you continued to impress me, first with picking the roles to invest in, secondly with your interpretations of each of them. I know you have said their are all within you and “ extension” of whom you are , don’t let this quote corner you within the stage direction/ interpretation. At time, get out of this track and let yourself be surprised as much as you surprise us . Much love.
It's beautiful but it seems like she's darkened her voice a bit. I don't want to see her self destruct like netrebko. That being said, this is a beautiful rendition. My all time favorite is mirella freni.

Both lyrics.
Role is for a dramatic soprano.

Manca un po’ la voce di petto
how i wish to see and hear this (glorious singing) in a traditional production (karajan/Salzburg) instead of this trash
