Very cool. I've seen guys get busted up pretty good on the hand cranks. That M is in stellar shape 👍
My grandfather had a 1940 Farmall M and I spent many an hour on it back in the early 70's!
I love those old tractors
I've never tried to start my farmall m with a crank , but your a pro at it .Thanks for the video .
Best sound on the planet
That M sounds Great! Keep em running!!
I love these old tractors.
Great video, sir! That old girl fired right up! I have tried to crank over my M, but with a front end loader and a fresh rebuild with overbore, high compression pistons it is a bit of a challenge! I have only gotten it to start twice by hand as I just get too wore out. The loader on the front is mostly the challenge. Feel free to stop on by my channel, lots of old tractor stuff over there!
There is a super M on the dairy I help out on. It was in the shop with the starter out. The boss wanted to move it outside and asked me to help. He went to get another tractor and I went to get the crank. I had it running before he got back. He couldn't figure out how I started it. I just said it was a secret.
Chinese secret
Excellent picture and video also shape to!
They built some tough tractors back then. Really about the only thing that usually ever needed was points and condensor, and maybe spark plugs.
Tell that to my damn carburetor…. I’ve rebuilt the damn thing twice only for it to leak more. I never want to see a gas engine again.
It's the lousy gasoline that they make now. It destroys carburetors. My Dad always turns the gas off on Our tractor when he is not using it. I think He rebuilt the carburetor 3 or 4 times, but it didn't do any good.
I'm currently trying to get one of these running on my Dad's farm. I can't get it to fire and it cranks so slowly on the 6 volt system that I think it might be the problem. Next time I'm out there I'm going to check if the crank is sitting somewhere on it. It has a huge farmhand attachment on it so I can't just hook it to another tractor and drag it around the yard to start it.
Have 2 m's...love them old tractors
Just subscribed. We have sever tractors mostly Farmalls. There are several M's in the mix. We have video on our channel.
Does that have a diesel engine or regular ⛽ petrol gas engine
I have an old farmall H that I need to make a crank for. I guess someone lost it. Anyway you could send me the measurements of your to the bends and bar thickness? I'm thinking probably 5/8.
She may be more than 70 years old but it purrs like a kitten
Like you say, always crank by pulling up.
