We must have been through this 1 billion times - taking all things into account, after currency conversion, federal & state taxes, a minimum wage of $7 an hour, health insurance, it's about the same as what they pay in the US, if not cheaper www.fastfoodmenuprices.com/burger-king-prices/ Australia has the highest minimum wage in the world. That's why things are so expensive
ABitOfTheUniverse Fast food in Australia is more expensive than the U.S. Most places don't offer free drink refills or condiments. I was charged 50 cents because I asked for lettuce on a burger at McDonalds.
Not much more expensive. After I watched Greg's last Burger King (Hungry Jack there) video, I was walking past BK and had the urge for a sandwich. There was one on the menu I hadn't tried that looked like it might be good, the Mushroom & Swiss King. I only ordered the sandwich and it came to $6.97 US, which is $8.74 AU. Looking at the menus for Hungry Jack's there in AU, Mermaid Beach near where I last knew Greg to be living, I didn't find any of the stores carrying the equivalent item. Now Greg did get a whopper just 6 months ago and the price was $6.20 AU without cheese, $6.90 AU with, which equates to $4.94 and $5.50 USD and, just for the sake of being thurough, I rang up BK just now and asked for the prices on their whoppers, without and with cheese and the prices they gave me were $4.65 and $5.15, making the AU prices $0.29 and $0.35, US, more expensive, or, $0.36 and $0.44 more expensive in AUD. Now, for the sake of completeness, I'm wondering if these are actually the same things, and, since I've gone this far I may as well wrap it up. The Hungry Jack's Whopper is: 280g, 2900kJ, 29.6g protein, 40.0g fat 11.7 of which is saturated, 53.7g of carbs 8.6 of which are sugars and, 667 mg of sodium. The Burger King Whopper is: total mass NA, 660 Calories, 28g protein, 40g fat; 12g saturated and 1.5 trans fat, 49g of carbs; 11g of which are sugar and, a sad, 980mg of sodium. We do love loading our food with sugar, salt and those yummy trans fats I conspicuously don't see on any of the items on the AU menu. 610 Calories = 2552.24kJ though, so at least there are less calories in our whoppers, but I'm not sure that is so good when that's basically what we eat and pay for when we're buying food; energy to metabolize. You might think talking about food might make me hungry, but all this talking about what food boils down to; a loss of money and some unhealthy ingredients, is kind of upsetting my stomach. I am sorry lettuce costs more in Aus, but it is a pretty dry continent, I think extra for veggies isn't too unreasonable. Here the only veg on a fast food sandwich that is generally extra is the tomato and that can run $0.25 to $0.50 more depending on what restaurant you're at.
@poida I was just figuring how much it costs the consumer. If tax was a million dollars, the burger would cost the consumer a million dollars. Question for you though, how does that 10% come back around to you? Does it pay for healthcare? Does it go towards the costs of medicine? Education? Public utilities like roads, fire or police? Or does it go to the federal, state/territorial or local government to pay for their overall costs?
Mercedes Benz perhaps in his older vids but he was just joking around 80% of the time....in his later years he's exactly like he is here so I believe this is the real Greg
Pretty good score for that $10+ burger. I have never had a whopper and I might just skip tasting that monster too....oooh NO now Hubby wants to go to Burger King to see if they sell that thing over here. THANKS GREG Lol. :D ;)
Wtf... i thought whopper meal in USA was expensive. A whopper, fries and large drink for 9 bucks. But your adding extra pattie, eggs and bacon. Still to expensive lol
Thats not a bad cost really. I recently ordered a half pounder from a local takeaway and it cost me GBP 7.95 (approx. AUS 13.12)! And it was nothing like the Hungry Jacks burger you had, it was ok but nowt to write home about. P.S. you may be too young to remember, but did you ever get a kids meal that came with musk flavour Hubba Bubba? It was a very long time ago lol, been many years since I was last in the great country of Oz =)
Double Whopper with 2x Cheese. Add Egg and Canadian Bacon. I usually ask for it to be cut in half. Looks good but now I want a Whopper and our BK's are closed for the night.
Greg, Can't tell if you're joshing about pineapple slabs and beet root. You aught to create for us your version of "the lot". A local greasy-spoon here in the states used to sell a "Roadkill" Burger, medium fried egg, bacon, etc without all that mayo and rabbit food to mask flavors, a little greasy but plenty good!
Looks really good actually but for that price? Nah, rather go to a good charhole chicken, burger joint. Much better quality and, as you said, pineapple, and all the other shit. Dunno about you hut I don't keep multiple meat patties on a burger.
I'm not sure what the menu is like over there but that is called a ultimate double whopper in WA, which is more fitting because how can you have a lot butger with no beetroot!!!
You seemed sad, there is no camerawoman and you talked about going out and kissing women. None of which is anyone's business. Another classic video, mate. I hope you get what you seek in life.
There is such a thing as having too many toppings on a burger and I suspect this is just such an instance. The Burger King Whopper is my favorite burger (even among "gourmet" burgers) and I prefer it in it's original form - without cheese! - I love the simple single flame-broiled patty on a bun with crispy lettuce, tomato and onions and topped with mayo and ketchup. In it's original form you really get to taste the unique flame-broiled patty which has made the Whopper so iconic after 50 years. I cannot imagine loading it up with layers of cheese - a fried egg - bacon - ham - extra patties - Yuck!
That things huge that's what she said......lol If you can't stick an innuendo into a food review then you ain't doing it right. Keep up the vids grego....
Hi Greg -- I really like your videos. By the way, you take YUGE bites (not that there's anything wrong with that). It's interesting what the different fast food places offer in different countries -- we don't get most of those. Our menus don't rotate much although to be honest I don't eat a lot of fast food. Thanks
*Pushes fingers into every liquid in the burger possible*
"Oh, man... what a messy burger. It gets everywhere..."
I wonder why...
:D :D
"I'm sure after I've finished it I'll be wishing that I hadn't eaten it". Describes every Hungry Jacks meal I've ever had.
"1 burger? That will be $10.65, your kidney and your first born child"...only in Australia...
ba ha hah a
I thought so too. And then I moved to Hawaii...
That's about 35 mins work at min wage.
In the US that's about $4.22.
The subtle "That's what she said". I couldn't stop laughing.
Kudos on your user name
that is a...lot...peace, bro
That's what she said.
I LAUGH EVERY TIME 😂
well you're easily amused
does "pulling some cones" refer to smoking weed? 420
420
ahahahaha yep in Australia that's what we say when we want to have a bong rip
He meant "cock", not "cones".
John Karavitis nope. Pulling cones from a bong bruv
Hahaha Greg my nigga
worked at Hungry Jacks as a teenager. The eggs came out of the freezer already cooked. This video suggests that hasn't changed, still look gross.
Nice review as alway Greg I hope uk Burger King has this I would like to try it
BEETROOT! Is it too much to ask for?
$10.65 AUD = $8.48 US, that's pretty crazy, for fast food.

I said 660 calories, not 610. 660 Calories = 2761.44 kJ, still, less than the Hungry Jack Whopper.

poida When I was in the US I paid tax on food at restaurants and on top of that, a tip! Menu prices didn't reflect those two extra costs.
Greg such a nice person
gotta be nice to everyone, unless they yell at you
And then what? lol
Mercedes Benz perhaps in his older vids but he was just joking around 80% of the time....in his later years he's exactly like he is here so I believe this is the real Greg
Could not have put it better myself. He would be a great guest to have at a party =)
Love me hungry jacks Aussie burger, but that looks fantastic. I'm hungry.
'dripping all over your hands' that's what she said 😜

Double Whopper with 2x Cheese. Add Egg and Canadian Bacon. I usually ask for it to be cut in half. Looks good but now I want a Whopper and our BK's are closed for the night.
You really want pineapple on a burger? Yuck!!! Then again... pinapple on anything is terrible...
Greg,

Looks really good actually but for that price? Nah, rather go to a good charhole chicken, burger joint. Much better quality and, as you said, pineapple, and all the other shit.

Ah Greg, the master of double entendres! :-P
😆
I agree it's not quite "the lot" but it is big!
Do you think the pineapple and beetroot would heighten the flavor that much?
it would be even juicier
