Thanks for an informative video, I believe I am suffering from a missing queen, no brood, lots of nectar, has vindicated my thoughts about introducing brood into my hive. I look forward to the next video to see the result
Hi Stuart, I did suggest giving a frame of brood a fortnight ago in a poor mating area its all moust essential. Did you check that the queen a solid pair of wings. I have found a virgin without a proper second wing the other day and it easy to over look. We live and learn dont we. Its becoming a great set of Videos Stuart Regards John Owen
Hi John, Yes you did, I wanted to allow enough time to see if the queen I found in the brood box would mate and start laying. She was fine when I saw her, legs and wings all perfectly formed from what I could see. Just one of those beekeeping things that happens. I'm lucky in that I have a lot of mated queens ready to replace other older queens so I'll use one of those to run in if there are queen cells on the next check. Stewart
Hi Paul, With it being an open mesh floor they can move air around through there I guess. First seaason of using poly hives so it will be interesting to see how they cope with all of these various factors. Stewart
Hi Mustafa, the name of the hives is Maisemore Apiaries Commercial Poly Hive. Here is a link to show it on their website. www.bees-online.co.uk/detail.asp?ID=716&name=Commercial-Poly-Hive-with-2-National-Supers-(EMPTY-FLAT) Stewart
Hi Joseph, I'm really enjoying using the poly hives, both the Maisemore Commercials and the Honey Paw Langstroth's. They have weathered well and are lightweight which is really important for me. Stewart
Hi Simon, This video is from a while back so I'm not totally sure what did happen. The follow up video is probably in the archive on Patreon. www.patreon.com/norfolkhoney Stewart
Great video. Starting to see bees thru different eyes
Thanks Thomas

Hi David,
Thanks for commenting.
It's an easy way to check to see if the colony is queenless. Good luck with your test.

I have watched a few of your video’s in the last few days . Why are the comments turned off on them . ??
Very good. Thank you.

Stewart, how does that hive ventilate with the see through inner cover in place? I'm under the impression that it has no vent holes in it?

Maybe you could ask the manufacturer, when you speak to them again? I enjoy your videos, very much. Thanks, mate.
The last thing a poly needs is top ventilation. They rely on the warmth to assist the colony. Been using poly for 25 years here. :)
I want to understand the spare space behind the frames. Why no dummy board and to what extent it matters.
hello
could you help me to tell me what is this hive (with big frame) name in your website?
