Cool hound......👍
Well done
Great video Alastair great dogs too 👌
Thanks
Love your assistant doing quality check as you work. Good work, Snowy!
I also say "Tucker time, dogs love tucker time" brought a smile to my face. Footrot Flats is well known here in Aus too.
We all love it here too.
Get an Ozito 18v pole planter/auger 299 at bunnings.
Buy an extension and 100mm auger from toolshed.
Drill hole to depth, put in reverse then ram home an firm up pole.
Alistar’s outdoors workout. Nice to see practical conservation at work
Like the shade idea . . .
Definitely a workout
Good to see a bit of funding. Bet you were glad to pass that tool on.
Yep glad to be done for this year.
Past Cyclones and the recent Cyclone Gabriel have caused untold scarring of farmland on the East Cape and Hawkes Bay something has to be done to hold the hill sides from slipping. Nice video and great workout!
There was a lot of Poplar poles planted in the late 90's on those type of areas. Definitely need more around the country now days as well.
Great video Sir .. Merci beaucoup Monsieur
Thanks very much
Getting your poles planted looking good.
Great Video. Apparently My great grand dad used to walk everywhere on his farm in Central and take willow sticks with him to plant in the Gullies. You can see where he has been today….thats what she said. I wondered if Foof was a woof. Carbon credits…..as long as its credit youd be mad not to I suppose even if the whole deal is…what it is! Pity its not just a reward scheme for being among the most efficient food producers in the world.
Cool. Think you should end each video with Walago.
I like that.
If only you could get that flash new post driver in there
I know ae.
I probably shouldn’t say this....but I reckon this will be your most ‘popular ‘video so far😅
Couldn’t you just smack em in with the kingshitter 🥴
I could hit them with the post driver if i could reach them.
Great to learn how you plant poplars, thank you!
Is this succession planting, where you would then plant slow-growing, long-lived native trees that will eventually take over? Or is the plan to stick with a permanent, sheep-friendly poplar plantation?
Question about dog housing: I have indoor pet dogs so I’m not familiar with outdoor dog facilities. Those cages don’t seem protected from the sun, wind or frost. No roof or tree. The metal pipe your older dog is housed in looked purpose-designed for cooking dogs in summer sun. And yet your dog was clearly not cooked and the dogs in this video seem healthy. What am I missing?
There are wooden houses at the end of the caged area that have insulation in them to keep them happy. The caged area has a grate floor for their toilet area and where their food and water is put.
@@stewbird Aha! Makes sense, thank you!
The planting is a bit of both. Stock friendly trees in areas we will continue to graze and we can underplant with natives in areas we will fence off and retire later on.
@@kiwifarmernz Ah, so native trees are not stock-friendly. Got it!
@@alisoncummins2726 stock can be very hard on them until they grow taller
Hi what Dog food do you feed them lots of different brands out there.Cheers for the video
We use Black hawk and have found it really good.
We used to feed our dogs Tux biscuits then a friend put us onto ‘Mighty Mix’ dog biscuits. We have never looked back. There was a noticeable difference in the dogs coats very quickly. New Zealand brand.
You could plant natives trees too.
We have been planting some and have some more to do.
Alistair what were the birds of prey souring above the hill behind you when you were in the gully planting the poles, looked like eagles?
They are Hawks
So. Wha doe Wulligo🤔mean?
Come away and let go.
20t digger definitely seems the easiest way to plant poles
Haha not on that hill side though
@@kiwifarmernz haha no definitely not where you are planting them.
How long will it take for the poles to develop a good root mass?
It will take a good couple of years.
Are you in the warmarima district?
No in Canterbury
@@kiwifarmernz is it possible to Come by and have a look or help you out some Day?
Im from Danmark Down here working on a dairy the nemt 6 months.
@@user-yw4gf4ek5x yep sure thing. Maybe in a month or so when we are not in the middle of lambing.
@@kiwifarmernz awesome thank you I will text you back in a month 👍
Do you know where the word wallago comes from?
New Zealand word. Stands for Come away and let go.
Use it as a recall for my hunt aways as well, just picked it up from other shepherds but I have no idea where it comes from. Wally let go maybe?
