I love how the beginning of this track starts off so sweet and soft. Like James can see Paradise. And then the track cuts out. He sees Mary and he's already realized what he's done. So that Paradise turns to Purgatory as the song begins to grind and pull downward, repeating the background theme over and over as the nightmarishly melody reveals that James has to face what he's done here or perish.
@@IAmBushid0 What? You must be joking! But I can be yours... I'll be here for you forever. And I'll never yelling at you or make you feel bad. That's what you wanted. I'm different than Mary... How can you throw me away?!
i've never played a single silent hill game, but i am absolutely in love with the soundtrack. the emotions are just so raw and twisted. i heard the creator was inspired by the album "absinthe" by naked city, and i totally hear the influence! i wish this was the standard for horror music, because it is just so raw and just the audio equivalent of the fight or flight reflex. maybe i should play sometime
@@annihilation777 first one I started with. I was worried the game would be overhyped and not actually scary like other horror games but nope I can’t handle metal scraping or fog anymore
@@franciscodavi1323 I think "Leave" is the weakest. The best are the "bad" endings. In Water and Maria make the most sense for James as a character. Not to mention....I find it quite unbelievable that Laura would simply go off with her best friend's murderer. If anything, I don't think James even left in the Leave ending. His father states that he never returned from Silent Hill. But to be honest the game isn't even about escaping Silent Hill. It's about finding the truth and being able to accept it or be crushed by it. I just feel as though, after playing the game numerous times and getting every ending multiple times, and studying James as a character and human.... I do think he would most likely continue to deny the truth (Maria Ending) or be unable to live with himself (In Water Ending). The whole game is him subconsciously seeking torturous punishment for what he had done.

Love love love how sweet and gentle the music starts, only to cut off and turn into something more confrontational and putrid. The beginning to 1:50 is my favorite part of the track. Beautiful and intense.
There is always some form of music playing in the back of my head. Now when I’m stressed out I hear those distant sirens. Thanks a lot asshole for making good music
It very disturbing, I always thought it was the scariest because of its complexity and speed, it's loud and sounds like a circus of death, also the arena you fight her in is very claustrophobic
I mean I'll even add on since I'm off work now. The track sounds so formed to represent the truth and outcome of James journey, all the weight is falling on him at once this time and he has to Aldo fight his dead wife
I like the fact that the soundtrack fits good to the story. This is why Silent Hill will always be unique. First James had a great time with his wife just to realize that he woke up in a nightmare and in the end he is fighting against himself and then against this nightmare.. Just like the music in this game, especially this one.
Around 2:33 sounds like some kind of horrible bowed technique on something - maybe a cymbal. Eiher way you can almost discern a melody from it and it's my favorite part. Really adds a very surreal and disorienting texture to the rhythm
This boss fight was some bullshit. Took all my ammo and ended up finishing her off with my wooden stick ( missed out on the pipe) can’t say it wasn’t intense tho :)
@@TaintedTownMusicThere's definitely two very different contexts between the two boss fights, I just meant the final boss in SH2 felt similar to me mechanically and atmospherically. I should have elaborated on that in my original post

more like the Paradise turned to hell instantly in my opinion
He is the best.
James already faced what he did. He already accepted it. This is just Maria/Mary lashing out with her lack of purpose now that he has awoken.
If you want the sweet and soft soundtrack at the beginning, the soundtrack is called "Peace and Serenity"
Ah hell yeah! Thank you!

And that's why you needed this "Maria" person? James, do you really think I could ever forgive you for what you did?!

in this ending maria ending, she was the manifestation of mary Sunderland
Yeah and James ended by leaving Silent Hill with Maria

the first 30 seconds are really what make this track for me. i love that ambient style. Good work ripping these from the game disc.
yeah i agree, its a softer more peaceful version of the following track, and then, bomm evill scariness!
