It happend in maine. Which has one of the lowest violent crime in the usa.. at 15 i went half way down the state alone on a bus to see my mom.. i can't count how many times ive gone out walking late at night when younger then 15... its not something to be super concerned about here. Gotta watch the whole story to know exaclty what happened here. I live between where she lived and where her body was found.. the guy is her ex bf who wanted her to leave him alone. That was his story at first..then it changed to "i wanted to be a hero and pretend to find her in a day or two.".. idk but these things dont really happen here. So letting ur kid go for a walk late at night or meet a friend isnt uncommon at all.. well, not uncommon from about central maine up to northern maine,(more people and less woods in the southern part of the state) which nicole was from central maine, in one of the quietest areas there is honestly. That i know of in this part of the state.

It’s practically life.
As a Brit I'm confused over the disparity in sentencing for the crime of murder in the US. But I believed it depended on which State the murder was committed. For example, one State may still have the death sentence and murder automatically warrents the death penalty or life without parole. And another State abolished the death penalty and instead will have life with a minimum term or life without parole. Maybe I've got it incorrect?

This happened in the next town over from my hometown and I remember when this happened. Everyone was looking for her and it was horrible when they found her body. That poor girl and her family. My heart still goes out to them.

When I was nine years old I swore myself that I'll never do social media but when I was about 10 years old I downloaded Snapchat because my cousin had it and I thought it looked cool but back then I didn't know it was social media and I said I was 13 years old for some reason I can't remember and I instantly got like 14 men saying I was Beautiful and it freaked me out so I told my parents and then deleted the app

In the US a lot of states have 'felony murder' statutes which make a murder committed during the commission of another felony automatic first degree murder and sometimes eligible for the death sentence. Here in Canada it is automatic first degree murder for a murder that occurs during a kidnapping, aircraft hijacking, or sexual assault.
