Which was your favorite image? One, Two or Three?
Image No 3 !
2, loved the background.
They are all great Stewart, but my favourite is number 3
Loved No. 3!
image 2 for me
That is the best trained spider I've ever seen.
Well trained :)
This Man is adopting Spider as a model
Love, love, love the bloopers at the end! It gives us a sense that it takes a lot to produce one video!
Good work.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your setup for the shots. I like the blue background the best. I think the contrast in color really made it pop a little more.
Thank you :)
Love the out takes its never perfect
Aren't they the best?!!! Love them :)
You are amazing! you make it look easy...and it isn't! I know. #3 was my fav, loved the eyes! Ya, nice diffuser for sure! Keep up the fantastic work Stewart!
Thank you Steve :)
Editing takes this image to another level. Damn. It's so beautiful 🙌
Thank you.
It’s obvious how much you put into your art sir and I really enjoyed your video!
Thank you.
Dude, honestly such a great review. I'm new to macro photography, but you have answered some questions I had. Brilliant.
All the best for the future mate, keep doing what you love.
Thank you 🙏
looks like a nice adaptable set, excelent images as always
Thanks :)
gorgeous shots!! that flash accessory worked wonderfully 🌟
Cracking shots, and those presets...! :-O The diffuser reflection is just perfect.
Thank you :)
love the outtakes
I really enjoy your videos. I'm so sorry for the loss of your spider.
Fabulous Lesson !!! Thank you
Superb Stewart!
Beautiful work 😍 nice diffusion & background idea !
09:57 hahha yah exactly 🤣🤣😂. Photo are stunning , insanely detailed.
Thank you :)
Nice setup Stewart. The results are superb. I really love your outtakes as it makes me realize I am not alone when trying to capture images and things go sideways. Cheers. Jim
Amazing content, thank you!
Really excellent detailed video! Thank you! Now i have to look for those clips you used for a background and that can attach to a mini tripod!
Hi Stewart!!! Great to see you again, the diffuser looks great, I love the image with the blue background. I've the Neewer NW680 flash and I think it's good and have a round diffuser. The diffuser are working good I'm still practicing with it and have some interesting results, with the Sigma 105mm macro lens I've headaches and still dealing with it but it's great. Back to diffuser, the reflection on Susan's are smooth and nice I like it a lot. Regards from México and thank you again for your amazing videos!!
Thank you Enrique :)
Image 3 for me Stewart, although I did like 2 as well, looking forward to seeing more images with the new diffuser 🤙🏻
Thanks David, I like 3 the best as well. I'll be doing more over the next couple of days.
Loved them all but especially image three. That set up looks really cumbersome on the camera but the results are great. Especially the catch light.
You can now purchase separate items in the kit if you think that will help
Exelent❤
Thanks ✌️
Incredible man...really cool.
Interesting setup. Very nice shots and the reflections in the eyes were quite nice.
Thank you :)
magic as always one question even when I use a defuser I still get a bounce from the flash in its eyes how do you stop that
Awesome video Stewart.
I've got several products from Photography Accessories - I love them.
Thank you :)
Stewart!! U should've done a jumping spider shirt lmao then i definitely would've bought one!!!
I'm working on one at the moment.
@@StewartWoodArt yes yes yes!! I can't wait!😁😊
That amount of light on that lil' spider is like taking and x-ray to her
She's used to it :)
12:12 spider vibin
Nice review. Have just ordered one. :-)
Stewart , working my way through all of your videos ! Excellent as always . Is this still your go to diffuser ? Does it work well on reflective ( metallic ) subjects ? Better than any homemade one you've tried ? I'm still struggling to get good diffusion and have made so many , ready to buy !
Thanks!! 3D-Greetings from Holland
Hi Stewart, firslty, so sorry to hear about Buster. Secondly, nice review on the diffuser, and thirdly, man are you a great post processor. Love the work.
Thank you :)
Good job. I like staging some of my macro shots too. Especially if I want to do some stacking. The fact you keep jumping spiders is interesting too. I'm curious about that part.
Haha. Bunjee cord. Havent heard that one before :)
Wow ! That final image looks fantastic ! What a beautiful creature :) I'm new to this macro thing, so really trying to soak up all that I can. In only a couple of tries, I've already found two species of Jumping Spider in the back yard though :) One looks very much like your here, but green metallic mouth parts... I've subscribed btw :) TY for the informative vids :)
Great video you inspired me to buy the Crafty Bells diffuser kit. It arrived today. I had to watch this again to see how to use. No instructions came with the set.
Hi, how do you liked the combination of the 100mm L lense and the new EOS R? Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks
Very cute model
Great video thank you im looking for closer macrophotography with my Nikon750 and Sigma 105mm What's the name of the other macro extention you put on the lens....Venox?
And I need a new flitser what do you advice the normal or a ringflitser?
Where did you get those little tripod specimen clip things? I'd like to get some.
I got them from www.wemacro.com
How do you know if you need a small diffuser kit of large? Is it based off your camera or just price and preference
Love your work and channel. Wish you offered presets for "dark table" I'd buy it in a heartbeat
Thank you, never used Dark table to be honest.
Great video. Where do you get that texture stand from?
Seem like there was 1 to many diffusers. At any rate, I love the results you got!
Also like the merch.👍
Thanks Mark :)
The top one is a Reflector then a diffuser that attaches to the reflector and then the Bonnet. These can now be purchased separately.
Hi hey can you just use the bonnet for any macro or do I need the whole kit please
How far is it from your camera to subject, when you using tokina lens?
Just received the large version of this diffuser, tried it out and seems great, maybe a little adaptation to the Velcro but all in all very pleased. Although the new YN flash you bought dose not support the canon R, if it did would you use ETTL?
Hi Richard. Can you get a sense of what differentiates the small and large kits? Is it just the size of the conical diffuser or are the other components differently sized as well?
Yes, I would use the TTL on a flash if it worked, I also have the large diffuser now and will be showing that in a future video.
@@SteveSSBB Hi Steve I can give you the dimensions but I only have the large version, the active part of the flash reflector is 11inches high and 10.5 inches wide, the flash diffuser is 11 inches high by 10 inches wide, the bonnet at its widest is 11inches across and 7 inches deep. Following my previous post regarding adaptation to the Velcro...it is a personal thing and does not reflect the capability of the product. I received an Email regarding this from the seller asking for details, I personally think this is great, I have watched Stewarts video many times now and I think the difference in size is from the lens bonnet, if however your not sure my communication with the company has been very positive and all question answered within 24/36hrs
Cool video! May i ask where you get these mini tripods with the clamps for the background cards ? Big thx in advance
ua-cam.com/video/zbKIxYTA1m8/v-deo.html
The the end edit bits 😂
Amazing images again. Can I ask where you got the mini tripod with the crocodile clip for your backgrounds please? That's a great idea.
Hi Stewart
Thanks for this video
Where can i buy this diffuser mounted in front of the lens
Thanks again
Peter
Do you you prefer this flash setup over the yonguo twin flash plus Jason’s diffusion?
Cute spiders!
Great video and great photos already subscribed. The link to the diffuser is not working. What diffuser is that? Could you please provide another link?
Unfortunately, they went out of business.
that was fantastic Stewart loved the way you explain things cheers from trev down south stewart where did you get the stand that holds you backgrounds thank you
Thank you Trevor, do a search for a "specimen holder". They can sometimes be hard to get hold of.
@@StewartWoodArt thank you stewart i have got one on the way cheers from trev
I was going to order it until they wanted $28.00 for shipping. Great review and video.
It is worth the money.
I enjoyed this and may great myself to your backgrounds and subscribe
Thank you :)
Treat effing spell correct
@@davejenx lmao
Hi Stewart, love your videos! I have a question: i use a tamron macro 90mm but i want to get as much magnification to make the same photo you made in this video. What should i use with the tamron? Would raynox 250 fit for the job or not? Thank you :)
The Raynox should do the job nicely.
@@StewartWoodArt thank you! Is the minimum focus distance going to become too low?
It does get very short so you have to choose between working distance and magnification.
nice :)
I'm impressed with the bonnet diffuser. But shipping to the USA almost triples the price. So I'll keep looking.
It is a shame, but it is what it is.
I just ordered the kit and shipping is 21usd. That's cheap from Australia and the exhange rate dropped the order by 30% on checkout!!
@@lumenlarry6197 Thanks. I completely forgot about the exchange rate. With it, the cost went down enough for me to justify the purchase. However, I just got an email from the company saying they are going out of business in January 2023. It was sent after I received shipping notice...so all's good.
Any chance you'll do a review on the turtledove diffusers from macroscopic solutions?
Hi Stewart. Really looking foreword to a follow-up on this diffuser. Have you used any other configurations? Outdoors? Image 3 works best for me.
Thank you, I will be taking this outside for testing very soon.
@@StewartWoodArt Thanks Stewart. Would you mind sharing which size kit that is?
Hey,
What do you think about wireless flash with a diffuser?
If it works then great.
Hi Stewart. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and set up. I’ve done macro for a while but would like to give this setup a try as the results look very good indeed. Sadly none of the links to the gear seem to work or they’ve expired. Would you be kind enough to see if they can be updated. Thanks.
Thank you, I'll update the links on my website soon.
Stewart, thanks for this video! Dude! I saw a jumping spider outside my window this morning, but it was so quick that by the time I even got my cellphone to just take a normal pic of it it was gone! THEY ARE VERY FAST and SKITTISH! What do you do to catch your spiders if they jump off the scene into the room??? Also, using which of the two gives a better result, extension tubes or a reverse lens adaptor? Thanks for your time?
Hello. I have a Sonia TTL flash for my Nikon. It's very cheap and great. But I love your diffuser set. Will buy them now.
It's a great diffuser :)
@@StewartWoodArthello. I'm unable to find this diffuser set up here in India. What do I do?
I am afraid of spiders, but I realy like your video’s, and I was kinda sad when you told Buster had passed away. Unfortunately those things happen, and I believe he had a wonderful life with such a careful and loving owner. Have a nice day, greetings from the Netherlands!
Thank you :)
"Let's just blind her"😂😂
Did you focus stack the last two images or they are single shots. The depth of field looks very nice.
They are single shot images.
@@StewartWoodArt thanks. Very nicely captured.
having a 72 or 77mm lens, how can I adapt the raynox 250 to it?
Hi Stewart! I follow your channel and love your job! I have a doubt on spider behavior, I see the female in the video to be super calm and relaxed, all the wild jumping spiders I find near my home are super fast and it is almost impossible to get them still :( Did you "train" her to be a perfect model? :D
Hey, I'm searching for a diffuser for macro photography for my Sony a7iii.
But I'm confused between Godox tt350s and Godox tt685.
Would be great if you would help me out.
Thanks🙂
Great work! Have you tried this out with shiny amphibians? A wet frog. Salamander. Something of that nature?
Hello Stewart,
Congratulations for this excellent video!
Very informative and fun, well done!
Question:
I live in France, can I order your Backgrounds from you?
Can you give me the reference of your mini tripod with the clamp?
Thank you very much.
Pascal.
Google translation
The backgrounds are textures that you download and print your self, they can be ordered from anywhere. The tripod is from www.wemacro.com
I will never look at these jumping spider pictures the same way again!
Great tutorial! Does the built in flash work? Or I really need to buy an external flash?
Did you find out? I'm curious to know
@@bencoles2462 built in flash most of the time isn't enough to get a nice exposure in my experience, so I ended up adding an external flash. Trust me, the difference is huge.
@@celestialdrums486 thanks for clarifying! I'll get one
Do you know of alternatives? They seemed to have closed down so no longer offering the diffuser.
Nice results! Looks like a nice kit... But better stock up on batteries... Looks like it's going to be full power for a lot of shots...
Lots and lots.
subscribed! Nice video and information! Also, what a pretty girl you have there! Keep it up.
Thank you, she is great :)
Looks good but I'm not overly keen on the eyeball effect ;-) I'd be keen to hear your thoughts on that!
Cheers from down under:-)
I love the effect. I never liked how the eye reflections looked with my twin macro flash and with out a flash they look cold and empty.
I got the larger model and wished I gone for the smaller; very cumbersome when shooting in the bush.
And what abour size? In their site there are 3 sizes, which one is beter and why?
Andrey there are only 2 sizes on the website - Large and Small. Details of sizes and suitability with lens size is in each description.
👍
Sorry Stewart had to snigger at the shutter delay once again :D You think this setup would work nicely with Mantis as well, giving nice evenly lit shots?
I believe so, I'll be photographing them soon so keep an eye out on my Instagram - @stewartwoodart
RIP Buster😢
Did you use super glue on its joints to slow it down ?
Mate, I might have to get a jumping spider to photograph. I'm raising 4 tarantula slings right now and I love to photograph them, but as they're REALLY skittish at that age, it's always through the acrylic enclosures, sometimes top-down at feeding time. I have a GORGEOUS Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens sling, but I can't see her modeling for me like your cute girl does !
Hello Stewart. You should offer this product (diffusers and background cards) on Amazon for the US consumers.
I'm not sure the better light from the additional diffusion warrants going full power, significantly increasing the flash's refresh rate. Either way, I liked the video, your care with the spider and the bloopers!
Thank you, I just use the front bonnet now as I didn’t need the rest of the kit.
How easy is it to keep these spiders Stewart? What is required?
Very easy, have a look at this website: spoodernest.com/blog/
Cheers Stewart, loving your videos btw.
Has anyone work with the Irix 1500mm ? They only way I can get one here is though Amazon...
Stewart, your jumping spider seems EXTREMELY tame! Is that because she was raised in captivity and not in the wild? We have a LOT of jumping spiders here in Brazil and they are EXTREMELY skittish and afraid of humans!
At the beginning of last year's winter I was out in the garden with a 2x objective lens on and its 210mm of extension. It has a 17mm working distance. I'm just about to pull up that years Common Mullein weed when i thought what could be hidden in the remains of the huge leaves. Down in the junction of the leaf and stem where unmistakable eyes, but light was super low and all i could manage was an out of focus shot before it was off. Luckily they must have enjoyed their stay as I've recently seen youngsters running around. I recently saw an adult chewing the remains of meat of a flies wing whilst hiding in the teeth of an old timing belt which resides around the girth of the Chiminea. I took enough shots to workout it's a Zebra jumping spider, Salticus scenicus which is a lot smaller than yours. I have a 20mm ext ring on my 2:1 lens and it's still small in the frame. The babies are super fast runners and smaller than an Ant and so far my planning skills have failed.
Hopefully if we ever get any global warming the Regal will move here.
What are your thoughts of using a LED video light rather than a flash?
I haven't found one powerful enough to be used for a main light yet.
