  • Waiatarua is a wetland reserve in central Auckland (the largest wetland restoration project in New Zealand at over 49 acres), a common location for walkers and runners, but especially dog walkers. Towards the end of the video I stopped by the 'dog pond' - often you see a dozen dogs or more fetching sticks and enjoying the waters. I was lucky enough to run the last leg with my wife :)
The map needs a bit of an update - the grass has grown in some areas, especially around control 1.
Course 2 - 5.1km, 37 controls (including a mini-maze) - Race 11 of Auckland Orienteering Club's annual summer orienteering season and a traditional location for orienteering. 1st place tonight (although unofficially, my youngest son bet me by 20s - in fact both sons bet me on different courses) - Thanks to Sarah for setting the course, and AOC for organising.

How do you edit the map and pointer into the video? I've got my own headcam stuff from LMS and Oceania. I was gonna edit them myself but can't access the map. Cheers

Hey Bryn. I use software called OrientView to add the track to the video. The track comes from Quickroute. Orientview takes the map, the quickroute track, your splits and the video and overlays everything as you see it. I edit all the bits together (titles, zoom, map, video) in iMovie.
If I have to edit the raw video, join to videos or split them, I use Avidemux.
There are full instructions on the Orientview Github page, but it took a while to get the process down quick. Mapflips are a real pain.
