Thank you for the video. I am going to move to Amsterdam in one year from now and I'm starting Dutch courses in a few weeks. It's encouraging to see that people do get jobs only with speaking English
I came with my Paramedic (EHBO verpleegkundige) license and was being hired at the local ambulance services station, but when I tried to have it validated, it met with snags in the system. Apparently they don't have Paramedic degrees here so one must be a specialized registered nurse instead. Very frustrating, but I did manage to ply some of my trade anyway through local hospitals and clinics until my retirement which was good. P.S. Even though my Dutch wasn't that great, I worked for temporary agencies while waiting and was often sent to the hospital because I spoke 'medical' .. which eventually got my foot in the door to the medical field once again. 🌹
I'm currently working as a Afwasher while I'm in language school. Accepting a labor-entery jobs are the best way to go, I 100% agree. My manager is willing to put me on the floor in 6 months when I pass my A1 Dutch language. Just find a job that will work with you, but treat you with respect and won't abuse you. Check your contract, keep up with your time, and update your employer on your progress. My advice with going to actual agencies, watch what warehouse they suggest and get multiple options with other agencies. They make most of their money putting cheap labor in warehouses & only offer warehouse work.
Thanks, Jovie for your video. It is helpful and I like the flow of the presentation and your voice! Definitely, that's the case with entire Europe not only the Netherlands! basically there are three kinds of jobs for non-dutch speakers: the shitty ones (tending a bar , work in greenhouses) or the specialised ones like java-developer or the ones in a European hub function, where you are expected to work with all kinds of Europeans (also abroad) your work wil be basically in English.
Good points, Jacco. But I've also worked in an American company that opened its European HQ in Amsterdam; as well as a purely Dutch company that had many American clients. So while there are a lot of jobs available as you describe, there are some others too ;)

There is a (very high) threshold on being taxed as a US citizen; I think you need to earn in the area of almost 100K per year. Since I'm not anywhere near that, I've not had to pay taxes in the US. But you do need to fill out an income-type of declaration for the IRS annually regardless of your income.

Hi Josie. What a wonderful content it is.😊 I wish you're doing well. Nowadays I'm doing some researches on finding a suitable job in Holland and I suddenly realized your video. Is there any possibility to talk to you in detail in case you give me contact info l?
There are several different schemes for immigration into NL that depend on your personal situation. The best advice I can give is to look at ind.nl/ and see what fits you. Good luck!

What do you think are the opportunities for a legal professional in the Netherlands who is not native in English?I am currently looking for a job in NL and I find it pretty difficult because I don’t have experience in an international environment.
Hi Morgana, depending on your native language, perhaps you can try to find Dutch companies (or international ones with offices in The Netherlands) working with your native country. Once you have identified the companies, I’d approach the HR person over email and show the value you’d bring by having professional legal fluency in your language. Other than that, you can search for legal-adjacent jobs like paralegal, legal assistant, compliance manager etc. Your legal background gives you the ability to be broad in your search. In terms of legal jobs, I’ve found them in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. Good luck!!
I'm your new subscriber, a lovely channel! :-) I also live in the Netherlands, while watching your video, I was thinking about raising kids in countries that do not speak the langue their parents speak, like here, since the kids of non-Dutch parents go to Dutch schools they become fluent in Dutch and probably will prefer to talk to their parents in Dutch as that's the language they mostly use. Do you see this as something that would bring challenges in the way parents communicate with their children?
Thank you so much for subscribing and for your comment! This is a wonderful topic and perhaps I will make a video discussing this in the future. When I was 5 years old, we moved from Serbia to Canada. When I started school, I didn't want to speak Serbian anymore and only wanted to be Canadian. I'll never forget how much my mom insisted that we speak Serbian at home and that I don't forget that part of myself and my culture. She said to me, "when I tell you "I love you", I tell you that with my mouth. When I tell you "volim te", that's with my heart". And to this day, I believe so much in embracing ALL of our cultures (my kids are growing up with a Spanish/French Papa and a Serbian/Canadian/American Mama while living in The Netherlands) and we do our best to embrace the best parts of ALL of our cultures and not just one. There were absolutely moments in my life when I wanted to "fit in" with my class mates and HATED being the different kid in class. And I would rebel against my mom and speak to her in English only; but she was strong, and would ALWAYS reply to me in Serbian. Now, I am so thankful for her perseverance and am doing the same for my little people!

Nice video. everyone who want to work & live here in Netherlands need to learn Dutch. Only speaking english language don't save 100% anyones daily life. In Amsterdam it's not so big problem but outside Amsterdam. Also if a person learn Dutch it's respectfull for the country & culture. You think that I can find a job part time if I am a student ? Also , I need to work 56 hour per week to receive financial help .
Of course! There are many jobs for students in shops and restaurants. Maybe you can search also for a paid internship in your field of study?
@@JoviesHome hi jovie , hope u are doing fine too. I am from India and I would really appreciate u can help me to get job in any area from where I can money atleast to survive either in Amsterdam or Germany . It's my dream to settle in Europe ....please help even if charge some consulting fee I. Ok with that . Please help me , I have bachelor degree and fluent in English and have 5+ years experience in finance area
Nice video. everyone who want to work & live here in Netherlands need to learn Dutch. Only speaking english language don't save 100% anyones daily life. In Amsterdam it's not so big problem but outside Amsterdam. Also if a person learn Dutch it's respectfull for the country & culture. I have met 2 times a staff person who don't understand Dutch but working on the floor.
@@JoviesHome Pozdrav iz Srbije! Divna si, hvala na svakom videu - svi saveti su fantasticni. Hvala ti!

@@mariadebake5483 Thank you Maria, are you in Rotterdam? I arrived you were, and I like it very much. A wonderful country, and a people that I like very much.
@@sorinstoleru4700 I am not in Rotterdam, but in Tilburg which is a town in the south of the Netherlands.
And thank you for your compliments to my country and people!😀
Successful people don't become that way overnight.what most people see at a glance-wealth,a great career,purpose- is the result of hard work and hustle over time.
Yeah! I agree with you sir.
If you want to be successful have the mindset of the rich, spend less and invest More. Don't give up your dreams.
People come here with the aim of chasing money more than knowledge and that will damage your progress, trust me. Chase knowledge first and I promise! The money will follow you just like it's following some of us now.
