@@toonchi5264id say one of the most dominant, but not one of the best. It’s okay to admit they had an easy draw this year, while also admitting they dominated all playoffs and regular season.
The best version of this team is still to come, remember for all those teams who got the “it’s our first year together” excuse this year the Celtics also apply. They will be an even better team next year now that the culture is cemented.

Yeah, because the Celtics had a history of choking, all the way back to 3-2 vs. LeBron. They were heavy favorites in the '22 Finals also according to oddsmakers and computer predictors. They inexplicably lost to an 8-seed last year.

2022 NBA Finals betting odds as of May 30, 2022:

Saying they’re not close to the 2017 Warriors is crazy to me… that’s a lack of basketball knowledge/I.Q. This Celtics team match up better than that Warriors team.
-Jrue vs Steph would be very interesting
    -White would neutralize Klay
-Tatum owns KD… that would be tough for KD
-Jaylen would be the X-Factor & the fact this Celtics team can switch everything on those vintage Warriors screens & guard at an elite level…
-now here’s the big question for the Warriors would their 5th & Draymond be almost unplayable because of their lack of an offensive threat?
Warriors were deadly with playing small ball which this Celtics team is Taylor made to not only neutralize but with Kristaps to take advantage of…
People need to stop looking for big names & the hype behind those big names & look at the actual game of basketball.
The fact is this Celtics team is a tough matchup for anyone in any era & they need to get that respect.

And Jalen Brown had cut his hand didn't hear anyone making injury excuses for the Celtics. All i hear is a lot of Celtics haters trying to deminish the Celtics championship.

It’s so hard to compare eras of basketball. I believe this Celtics team could hang with some of the best ever, because of our defense. Defense wins championships, and we dominated all year because of our defense. It constantly mystifies me how people sleep on how great this Celtics team is defensively as a team.
It’s the biggest reason we won it all. We shifted from an offense-first team to a defense-first team. This team was the best defensive team in the NBA this year with apologies to MN. I dare to suggest this team is the best defensive team of the past 10 years.
High volume offensive teams never have top 10 defenses numerically because the opposing team gets too many possessions. We had the highest volume offense in the NBA and still had the number 2 defense numerically. That’s unheard of in this era of basketball

Perhaps the best compliment that can be given to the Celtics is that they were not being compared to the league, they were being compared to perfection. Some said they were a poor clutch team, and they lost 12 games which included 'clutch time'. Without those loses, the record would have been 76-6. They lost 6 non-clutch regular season games and 3 in the playoffs. With the loses to the Heat and Cavs, so many thought those were the beginning of the end. Both were followed by three straight wins to end the respective series. The loss to the Mavericks was completely taking their foot off the gas, leading to winning the championship at the Garden.

This celtics team is a fortress of a defencive team, which is built like a machine to operate with all parts operating together. Yes, idividually their players might not be amongs the greats, but as a team, theyre almost un beatable due to their defence. For some reason people disregard their ability to STOP anyone in front of them. The only two teams i could see celtics struggle are Shaq & cobe lakers; and Jokic noggets just because of the overwhelming size that celtics atruggle to stop. Any other team they would lock down and stop getting to 100 points whilst beating with ghreea on the other end. Which is exactly what weve seen all year this past season.

The Celtics could’ve easily swept the finals. They were so good and so confident they intentionally gave game 4 away just to win at home. They literally played with their food even though everyone said whoever comes out of the west is going to beat them. They dominated the mavs and every team all season. Only team they lost two games two was the nuggets. Who btw, like you said had an easy path to the championship left last year but everyone gave jokic high praise. The only reason this Celtics team isn’t getting any credit and people make every excuse to invalidate their success is because it’s a Boston team.

It would be fascinating to see this year's Celtics play against a 1980's Celtics or Lakers team. Those teams in the 80's hadn't unlocked the full potential of the 3-pointer yet. So, I wonder how they would fare. The 80's teams had dominant low post games - but buckets from the low post only count for 2 points while the 2024 Celtics would be raining down three pointers. Is the modern game, taking advantage of the three point line, inherently better than the game from the 80's? It would be a blast to watch!

This team was amazing and beat everyone, not their fault who they played and who was hurt.
I will also say for all those who said we had an easy path, all 3 teams Celtics played put up more of a fight than Dallas did who all said would beat the Celtics. They were blown out all 4 games did come back enough to make the score close but never was it down to the wire like it was with the 3 teams before them…….

This team would absolutely smoke any team from the 80s, if you were able to just magically transport them to the same time and place, but it's not really a fair comparison. Basketball has changed a lot. The amount of skill and shooting is something those teams would have never seen before. They'd be down 30 before they even realized how much of a problem the 3 ball creates for defenses in a moderb 5 out offense.

Luka was so tired (he needs to be more fit for sure) Boston was better team and I am extremly happy for them to win 18th title - more to come I hope in few next years !!!

I don’t think the older teams have the 3 point shooting to match this C’s team in todays era of basketball
It would be a closer series than many think depending on what rules these teams would be playing under

I don't get why everyone has to point out the Celtics path to the finals being easy while never mentioning the Nuggets facing a play in team in the finals that was only in the finals because of historically hot shooting (50% from 3 in three ECF wins) and regressed to the norm in the finals.

Do people even realize what ESPN did? They knew Boston was going to dominate the playoffs, so they took a cue from Fox News and had their "expert analysts" come on TV to sow doubt in Boston, call them untested and their competition weak, and hype up the Mavs, calling Luka & Kyrie the greatest backcourt ever. And they succeeded to the point that 89% of all bets placed on ESPNbet prior to the Finals were for the Mavs, despite the fact that Boston was heavily favored by Vegas. So ESPN made a fortune trolling America. They convinced people that Boston sucked and that Dallas was unstoppable. And most of that 89% were the "I do my own research " crowd 😂.
