ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Ysis, full-time mummy to 1-year-old James, pregnant with baby number 2, permanently sleep deprived and lover of all things tech & beauty! My husband and I live in Wales but I'm originally from Brazil, and together we both believe that family is the most precious thing in our lives.
I am a gentle, but firm parent, still finding my way through this complicated world of motherhood, winging it most days, carrying a lot of love in my heart and some serious under-eye bags.
I'm a qualified lawyer, turned blogger & vlogger. I use my videos to share a bit of everything from makeup to mummy updates. Bottom line is, I'm just another mummy doing my best to juggle life, work, kids, house, family, friends & my own self, without losing my sanity!
I would describe myself as a very happy, positive, honest and loyal person; online shopping is my arch-enemy!

I want one in white so bad!
Ladies have more common sense in reviewing cameras and lenses than most blokes do. They do not exaggerate, do not pretend, and recognise practical and relative value - something that blokes have a problem with. This tiny Olympus is far better, faster, more beautiful and more practical than any top professional DSLR of 8 years ago, and at 1/8 of the price. Excellent little review.
Impressive review! Best one by far that I have watched. Thank you for showing actual photos to illustrate the quality of the images you are getting from this camera!
Having used an Olympus OM1 manual camera for about 30 years I was pleased to hear how much you liked this camera. It was the quality of the photos that I was mostly concerned about and flip down screens aren't an issue for me. I was going to go Canon but I will stick to Olympus
i have already subscribed your channel. i am not sure about the camera as i haven't ever used it but one thing i am sure about is the fact that you have really impressed me. The way you speak English is absolutely brilliant. keep it up.
I have this camera with the 12mm premium lens.
Brilliant.
Can you turn off the Display info when the camera is not shooting a video? I am wondering if you can use that camera as a webcam with CamLink or such
Also - your hair. 😍 Thank you so much for your recommendation for the 17mm by the way. xx
Hello Ysis! Thank you a lot for your video !
I got the same camera but three things bother me, could you please confirm me if you have the same on your camera ?
- when the screen is flipped down and you want to touch it to take a picture for example, it's starting to go up a little, like it's not very fixed on the position while flipped down.
- while you press the button to focus the camera makes the noise like some ventilator is working. Firstly I thought that it was the lens, but then I tried without it on the camera and it was making the same noise.
- and the last thing, you can hear while the camera is on, the permanent noise like while focusing but much less louder, but it's permanent.
I don't know if it's all normal for the Olympus pen epl 8, could you please tell me if your camera does the same, I couldn't find the answer. If not I will have to return ou exchange it 😞
Thank you so much !
Really helpful!! I'm so in to my cameras since getting in to UA-cam. I got a vlogging camera for my birthday as I only had my DSLR xxx
Glad you liked it, Gemma! I love cameras & tech, if I could I would have lots of them for different things! Which one did you get? xx
Ysis Lorenna we went for the Sony DSC - HX90 which is actually really good and has the flip screen xx
what camera did you use to film this video with?
Can Olympus EPL8 use HDMI port to connect with Mac Book and use with OBS for live in Facebook or UA-cam?
Nice review, certainly an interesting concept having a down flipping screen...
Yes I understand about what u saying about returning cameras, I have had to do the same, fortunately to stores that are reasonable with exchanges
I have the EPL-7, but I'm so upset as it's already broken (my fault) so I'm praying they can fix it. Cried my eyes out yesterday. I love your photographs and your videos flower. Look forward to seeing what you do with them this year. xx
Try using a tabletop tripod to use when extending the screen in the down position?
Thank u ysis ....This Video really helpful me and one suggestion fr u about take a short film industry
I bought it today! Thanks for sharing the tripod thing!
Hi Ysis could you please provide the link to the tripod adapter you purchased on amazon. Thanks :)
Great review Ysis, thank you so much! You have such a lovely voice ))) nice to meet you, happy that I found your channel. Subbed 👍🏻☺
Do you know if this camera is US compatible? I want to get the white one.
I love Olympus! Seems like a great camera. :')
Little note: You might have a little trouble trying to get hold of this camera. It is currently an exclusive to John Lewis but has been out of stock since November 😰 I've been calling every week for an update but they don't know when they're going to get their next batch of stock
Researching to buy a first camera for my gf. Thanks for the advice! Big help!
Good, concise, review(s). Thanks for posting.
Does anybody know how long this camera allows you to record before cutting off?
Hello . Could you let me know if the 17 lens or the 45 is better ?
If i wanted to use it for youtube videos ?
it's not as simple as that.
Sure. 17MM lets you have the camera closer and get more in the view but on the other side, 45mm is better for portraits. A wide lens (17mm) will make your face look weird - big nose and small ears. A more "zoomed" lens like the 45 up to 80mm is better, as it gives you more attractive face features. 50-100mm is what pro photographers use. Bevare that that the PEN has crop factor so 45mm is not the same as a Full frame SLR - it will be a bit more zoomed in but the aspect ratio will be the same.
17mm can also cause a bit of distortion, as the light has to bend a bit to get into the camera sensor..
Not an easy answer. Look up videos comparing different lenses so you understand the effect of focal lenght.
Is this a micro 4/3 sensor version camera?
What camera did you use to make this review?
Does this one have a view finder?
No
You csn add any of four Olympus viewfinders:
the VF-1, an optical viewfinder with framelines for 17mm (though it more closely matches 19 or 20mma)
the VF-2, 1.44M pixels, swivels up, no lock
the compact VF-3, withe swivel and lock, but a smaller magnification and coarser resolution
the top-of-the-line VF-4, with swivel, lock, 2.4M pixels, and enormous magnification
Excellent!
It is really very helpful
Hi. Does the flash articulate any better than you do?
