    i worked at Werner for about 1.5years doing dollar tree and the true is that wasn’t too bad most of the time. I learned a lot from those times and average 1.5-1.9k per week and be home for 34. The only reason that make me leave was they have too many new drivers and the load was going short for a period of time but my fleet manager still wants me to stay out the whole time away from my home and call me for a 500 miles run when I’m home and by the time I back to the dc they switch it to a 100 miles run. After the second time they trick me like that I told them I’m leaving in two weeks

The state you live in plays a big role in wether or not you land the desired position. Second Disclaimer: The information provided was acquired 1-2yrs ago, a lot could have changed during that time.

Im more focused on the companies ability to weather the storm, whats going on with Yellow/YRC can happen to any company who has bad financial practice and poor accounts. To be honest even swift isnt a bad option right now. I warn company drivers not to go chasing the bag of money hopping employers , because the market is gonna get worse before it gets better. Were not even in the recession yet and so many truckers are loosing their job, just because your company is hiring doesnt mean they are financially okay, its a ploy to make things seem fine.

    Hey what you know about the refrigerator trailers

    • @intuitivebreach8969
      @intuitivebreach8969  3 роки тому

      Refeer Trailers - I was trained for a few weeks w/ JB HUNT; it was suppose to be my first local job. Normally you're expected to interact with the load (it's super cold inside the trailer), typically hauling frozen or refrigerated goods. The majority of the time you're hauling milk and juice. No matter which company you join, ALWAYS pre-trip the inside of the trailer, forklift guys often load the trailer recklessly and you'll end up with shifted pallets and spilled juice/milk everywhere if you aren't paying attention. The loads are also pretty easy to shift when turning, hard stopping, or going over bumpy areas (any food damage or spills caused during transportation) will be blamed on the driver. I believe it pays pretty similar to dry van, depending on the company. (PS: If you decide to join a "local" job, I recommend asking, "is this a 7AM to 5PM or a come back in 10HR" it will be very important, because if it's "come back in 10hrs, you best live 15mins away from your terminal. 10HR Reset local jobs, imo are like fake Regional positions, except you're wasting gas money every single day).

  • @r0498
    @r0498 2 роки тому +2

    There's some truth in this, depending on your Fleet Manager. There certainly are bad FMs out there, but all you have to do is go above them with issues. Most positions I've switched to stated pretty clearly that you need a certain amount of SAFE months to be eligible to switch.

    • @intuitivebreach8969
      @intuitivebreach8969  2 роки тому

      I switched out of Dollar Tree within 1 day of solo experience (what plays a huge role on what happens next is your trainer's evaluation of you --- in my case, my trainer put a really good word in for me). IMO as long as you have a good and clean driving record, you can leave and start with a new company pretty quickly. Although it's not recommended to be switching companies with only a few month or less at each company.

    Bullshit they’re playing you for a sucker and if you don’t stand up to them then you deserve what you get. They play that game with me with Dollar General. They wanted me to go to dollar tree and I said no because they had listings for a drop and ship route it was 12 hours long where all you did was drive and exchange trailers with another driver and then drive back home. at home every day after 12 hours and if you threaten to quit they’re going to give you what you want.

      @@user-rb7sh1gd4j Good money and good miles is dependent on the relationship you have with your dispatcher or fleet manager. You'll know wether or not you have a good fleet manager or dispatcher when you start driving, and are told, "We will get you home in 3 weeks" and they don't keep their word and you're instead stuck away from home for a full month or more. If their not keeping their word about home time, the rest of the experience may also become questionable as well. (One red flag, usually has a couple of more red flags attached). A lack of truthfulness = a lack of respect for drivers under their authority. A lack of respect = a lack of good miles and an attitude that says, "Suck it up". Overall, it's going to be a hit or miss, but I'm speaking in general and not any specific company.

    Who do you talk to if you’re wanting a raise?

    • @intuitivebreach8969
      @intuitivebreach8969  2 роки тому

      Depends. The answer can be "The Boss" or "The Company Recruiter". Normally raises are already set on a yearly bases. For instance, maybe you start at .49CPM and then next year you'll be bumped up to 51CPM. The other way to receive a raise would be to apply to another company willing to higher you with a higher CPM and then speak with your boss and request to match the exact same CPM or you intend to switch companies. The other way to receive a higher than normal is to call the company you wish to join and ask them, "What is the pay for starting drivers for xyz position?", then ask, "How much is the CPM raise per year?" then calculate your accumulated years of driving and request higher pay than the quota pay for a driver with your experience.

    So what other accounts are there?? They told me that dg pays the most around (80k av) out of their accounts, second place was dollar tree, and last Coca-Cola touch freight at 70k average, I'm a new grad going into werner welcome experience next week. Would love to know where could I make the most money, and what's the best account in ur opinion, thanks for the heads ups man!!

    • @intuitivebreach8969
      @intuitivebreach8969  3 роки тому +4

      The pays you've quoted are the "Top Driver Pays", it takes almost 2yrs to reach the level of the top earners; it's possible... but it's also rare to make that much straight out of training or student graduation. Top pay quotes are the equivilant of a Walmart sale, where just because one item is on sale for 90% they can claim, "We have a 90% sale" and not get sued for false advertisement. (PS: I personally quit Werner because towards the end, I realized I was being robbed and when attempting to correct the pay I would get the run around without a solution in sight. (Every company is going to rob you, it comes down to wether it's a problem that can or can't be solved). My current company does the exact nonsense, but I know who to contact to have the situation corrected.) The best companies are the ones that pay you hourly. During NETTTS career fair, I remember seeing recruiters from Coca Cola stating their drivers are paid hourly, I hear indeed is a great source for finding hourly trucking pay. Okay, this was a pretty lengthy response.

    • @CarlosMiranda-jq5fi
      @CarlosMiranda-jq5fi 3 роки тому

      @@intuitivebreach8969 that was from recruiting, well I guess I'll have to try and work it out, they broke down my pay from cents , per stop, and per trailer, but $75 per trailer seems very little, a lumper makes easily 3x that when unloading. Since I have no experience I couldn't go into any hourly jobs I researched. But the big heads ups you are giving are surely very appreciated on my end!!!

    • @intuitivebreach8969
      @intuitivebreach8969  3 роки тому +3

      @@CarlosMiranda-jq5fi Gotcha. Best accounts imo are Regional, Dedicated and Local. Then when you have experience either switch to specialized loads (hazmat, doubles triples, tankers, oversize, etc...) or become owner operator. If in the beginning you're only taking home after taxes 1K, that's pretty good for the first year of trucking. I had a friend leave Werner within 4-5months; he switched over to FedEx team driving and never looked back.

      Good timing, I had just stopped to check my inbox. The Coca Cola account is considered to be one of the most demanding accounts for Werner drivers, it's normally reserved for drivers that have spent 6+ months or more with good track records. Don't let this discourage you though, it doesn't hurt to give them a call and find out if their willing to offer you the position. (Their are other companies that offer "Regional" positions from the beginning without the hassle, no need to prove yourself or jump over hoops) The reason regional is favored is due to the fact that you work Mon-Fri and are home weekends mid-fri, sat and sun.

    • @intuitivebreach8969
      @intuitivebreach8969  3 роки тому +1

      Great Question; I'll answer it here and likely upload a video on the subject. The answer isn't simple when it comes to Werner. The answer is... "it depends"... on where you're located and how long you've been trucking. If you live in the Northeast CT, MA, NJ, NY, etc... the position could easily be on high demand, unlike if you live in the west or south it could happen fairly quickly. It also depends on who you spoke with.. hopefully you spoke directly to "Driver Placement" and not your fleet manager or dispatcher. Depends also on how you brought up the subject to Driver Placement, rough draft example, "Hey, I been driving for you guys for a while now and I am realizing that OTR is taking too much time away from my family. I recently applied for the Regional Best Buy account and was wondering how soon can I get started? If a Regional position isn't available, I appreciate you looking into it, and I'll keep looking." The idea is to give them the sense that you're pushing away or are about to leave. Worst case scenario, you let them know to contact you if a position opens up and in the mean while you intend to window shop for a new company, but to please contact you if something comes up so that you don't have to start from square one with a new company. (Something along those lines). That last part is to give them a sense of urgency, word-play is very important in this industry.
