- IN TODAYS VIDEO I tried using an iPad mini as a phone for 24 hours! This was such a fun challenge to do and it was actually really hard. You never think about how much we use our phone and how awkward it is to use it. What did you think about this challenge. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.

Just a clarification for anyone looking to get an iPad. If you get cellular you do not need to have a phone with you to use it, it uses CELLULAR and your Apple ID to send/receive messages. This means you have the internet with you as well. The other thing is you can’t send/receive regular SMS messages only iMessage using the default messaging app. Also some apps like instagram don’t have a dedicated iPad app and just use the iPhone version which works fine and you can full screen it but is just not the same as using an app designed to work on the iPad and utilize the screen size and extra power. You can however window the app or split screen and multitask which is cool. This makes the app look like the iPhone app in a portion of your full screen and is resize-able for certain apps.

Revisiting this now that ipads are getting display extend (fancy way of saying full screen while plugged into a monitor). If ipad mini gets that, you could make a mini your phone, computer and tablet all in one device. Which is pretty awesome.

To get around the lack of weather and calculator apps you can just download 3rd party apps but there is a weather app with the new update also you can get a cellular iPad with its own SIM card to be exactly like a phone
