Oliver, i took your advise and bought a dyane 6. 1980. 79800 km from new. 2 owners. the guy i bought it of had only done 2500 km in the 20 years of ownership.the car has been in the aude all its life i cant find any rot anywhere. i drove it fom carcassonne to my home in graulhet without mishap. the paint is not good like it is on your parents, there is plenty of dents and scrapes. i may just polish up the paint and give it the patina look.decided to call her lucille or lucy for short. this vid is useful as i have been scrabling around underneath inspecting the shocks which still have the paper labels on them. keep up the good work
Now I understand why you were drumming it into me to fit new shock absorbers onto my Rover 216 GTI.... I'm convinced I should do it now! Great result, love the Dyane 😍
That is one nice Dyane. Blue is the best colour for a Dyane. In my country most common were white, red, orange and yellow. I remember 2 blue Dyane as well. I am watching these videos hoping that I will fix or find someone to fix the brakes on my 2cv😃
Great for your mom, here in Argentina you can barely see some Dyanes..I think not many came in with imports, so if many are looking for them to gut and remove the gearbox and place it in the 2cv6 since it has disc brakes, I hear people say that then here it is difficult to get the brake discs. It is a pity that the 2v6 (3cv in Argentina) has not had an upgrade in having double braking system and disc brakes.
you should have shown how to do the front absorbers on a Dyane 6, and not only the rear. Because there is a trick on how to loosen the schock aborber plates without completely removing them. Fidly, but possible to replace both the front absorbers.

Then they got an order for lots at the same price, they made a mint. They kept getting orders, all very mysterious and extremely profitable.. Then one day a man from the MOD rang up and said why do your gas springs keep failing they are useless, my mates says they shouldn't, what are you doing with them, Mr MOD says says I cannot tell you it's an official secret, my mate says how can I help you if you will not share info? The MOD eventually spilled the beans... Seems they were using them for tank gun recoil units and were fitting them upside down, so all the oil went the wrong way.
Are you an American? aren't shock absorbers called "dampers" in Europe? I love the colour, it's not a color! Your light matches. When I replaced my shocks in my Corvair, I also replaced the springs, and all the bushings and all new nuts, bolts and washers, It was a new and improved car when done.

Hi Oliver, I get a great sense of vicarious pleasure from every job you successfully complete - and I don't get oily!
Nice work, sir - as always! 😁👍

Great video and good job, you live in a beautiful part of the world!

I'm a bit surprised you didn't tackle that rust patch on the shock absorber mounting bracket....tut tut...lol
As I explained on the drive I just wanted to do the shocks first for those who wanted to know how. Sorting the rust is coming don't you worry
That was good.
My Acadiane kangaroos a bit...was wondering if that could be down to worn shock absorbers
You shouldn't listen to Ausie music like Ac/dc inside your car
You don't have many trees up North, I can drive through woods for seemingly hours.
Mom: We don't need Colin Furze, we have Colin Furze at home
Colin Furze at home: "Squinting isn't eye-protection"
You choose these ones because they are from France? Or more reasons?
I would probably buy the Burton shocks. But any thoughts are welcome.
Surely the direction of travel means the shock cover will fill up with dirt and water. Why compress the shocks 5 times and fit them that way around?
I was wondering about the orientation of the shocks too, collecting grit, gravel and dirt thrown up by the tires.

Not seen a pair of monkey boots like those for years!
There's a review of them in the reviews playlist if you'd like to know where I got them from 👍
@@OliverPickard From a very angry (now barefoot) monkey, I'd guess. 😁
