My wife is Thai and whenever we visit she insists on using these private vans for everything other than long distances. Like say Buriram to Phuket. I wasn't keen on the idea at first, but they are soooo much better. 1) Service is door-to-door, no matter what door. Home, hotel, airport, etc. 2) If you have more than two people it (like us and 3 kids) it really isn't that much of a premium vs other transport. 3) Luggage handling is much easier. 4) You're not on any schedule and random stops for snacks or bio breaks are much easier. Now we haven't had the chance to hire one of these tricked-out vans, but I sent her the video to watch and next trip..........
in Thailand, these vans have speed limit, especially tour vans..there’s a device on the dash where the driver has to swipe a ‘card’ to log-in before they start driving. if they go over the speed limit, the device will alert the HQ (government office) n will fine the drivers.. my friend have a Ventury, a bigger version of the Hiace in Phuket..he told me about this..to avoid road accidents as some drivers speeding with tourists inside..
Truck drivers have a similar device in Brazil, but its analogue. It tracks your speeds on a piece of paper. But there are ways to hack it and i get truck drivers flying down hills at 120 km/h + behind me!!
the ventury is just a hiace commuter with some fancy stuff It's also usually the low top commuter which other than the ventury is kinda rare ngl but damn i never heard about the speed tracking thing that mad
In South Africa these HIACE vans are the taxi fleets. They put 12 to 16 people in them, their brakes are terrible they drive too fast and every few days a couple of them collide and its easy for 10-14 people to die in one accident.
very nice vans. i really like the sound of a turbodiesel engine with a big open exhaust, you can hear the whistle of the turbo so nice ....i want a ringtone like that. keep ,m coming chad.
When I was at Bangsaen Beach last month, I saw the Hyundai Staria at night, and I thought VIPing that bad boy would be amazing! Love the van scene. Like 9 years ago I was picked up to take me to get my rental car and the van was VIP’ed the F out. That’s when I “discovered” the scene. Good video!
Unbelievable! That place is such a trip. Thank you Brother. I wouldn't have a clue about this stuff without your effort. I really appreciate and enjoy these videos.
DDDAAAMMMNNN!!! these are cool. This is a whole different type of car show. I have never seen anything like this before. Thank you for this video. This is new for me. I’ve seen all kind of shows, but I have never seen anything like this. Thank you for this video and sharing. Thank you.
Hey Chad, to let you know the paint effect on the hood of the blue van with red and black paint job that is at 00:03:17 looks like foiling, a technique using metallic base coat and then a dark top colour. The top colour is dabbed ith scrunched foil to create the cool effect. Also it's possible to use carrier bags, string or even oiling to separate the top colour into weird patterns.. Also for anyone interested there is a website that imports all "japanese style" carrier vans like hiace, commuter etc.. Some really high custom vans available at ridiculous low prices, well looked after and all import duties dealt with by the company. nice smooth import of whatever van you desire.
Thanks for anothe great video Chad. It is so interesting to see the depth and diversity of the Thai automotive scene. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
Campervan builds market on Toyota hiace and commuter in Thailand has boomed....both diy and builders....thet are doing ot so well and there are so many channels doing campervan interios tours videos
Yeah... that Red & Gold combo was totally my style! I could really go for one of the camping one though! Live out of it and tour Asia! 😍😍 Edit: I ran an ambulance in Hollywood... none of them ever had disco lights and subs! Most definitely Thai!!
You might find this interesting... In the United States, there used to be privately owned ambulances as well. In fact, there's a movie from the 70's called 'Mother, Jugs & Speed' which portrays a customized van used as an ambulance.
We have these in South Africa it's our public transport it's the same van both called Toyota Quantum , it's used as taxis and ambulances and it's absolutely all over South Africa , the one with the flat roof is a Hiace still a Quantum tho , and it's pronounced high ace
Here in NZ the Hi-Ace is the go to van for tradies and couriers. During Covid I worked as a security guard at a post depot. Some of the postie vans that rolled in had aftermarket wheels, lights and exhausts. Of course they couldn't go too hard as they had the courier logo plastered on the sides
Yeah mate, as a kiwi the van is absolutely the best vehicle for work. I had a pickup for a while and it sucked. Constantly worried about rain, dust, theft and space! A lot more room in a van. I actually bought a micro van (Mitsubishi minicab) in Chile with a 2 cylinder 550cc engine. Went 20,000kms around South America before i settled down - still have it!
Here in Norway it is mostly Wolks Wagen and Mercedes Sprinter vans and rarely some Ford Transits (I have a Ford transit box van with camping interior myself) ...
I really enjoy riding in these vans when I'm in Thailand. Wish Toyota made these available in the states. Really like the styling. I'm guessing they wont pass emissions standards.
Here in México there is also a lot of modified Toyota HiAce vans which are most popular in the cities in the Mexico City metropolitan area such as Ecatepec or Tlalnepantla but instead of just being modified for personal use their typically modified but still used as mini buses for passengers
We need more vids likes this one Chad. Also, please dont forget about the 7th gen Civic Ferio guys, they're a tooooon of those enthusiasts in Thailand. (More in Malaysia, but Thai also have a whole bunch of those guys too)
I will never visit Thailand because I know 100% that I will NEVER want to leave... =) The people are amazing, the cars and motorbikes are NUTS, they race EVERYTHING!!!!!! They LOVE BEER,, WOW my kinda people. And I see that the women are very pretty too,
Disco ambulance is a great concept. What about hearses? I haven't seen any driving around. The one in Singapore can be pretty spectacular, worth a video.
The U.S will not get these Van's because of the design.front passengers sit on top of the engine not much safety for driver and front passenger. The newer generation has this covered with a longer front like a For Transit van
@@DJWizmuzk there are many "cab over" vehicles in the US that are not considered unsafe. They are actually great, drove one for work in the states many times.
Love the HI-ACE Vans, there was 1 van here in Australia that had a wide body kit and he said he got it from Japan, it looked freakin awsome. Seeing the car sean there in Thailand makes me want to go live there😁👌

Chad, referring back to your Motor Bike Shopping Bangkok, I wouldn't focus so much on appearance but more on ease of maintenance. The more cowlings the scooter has the longer it takes to perform some of the simplest of tasks. Try changing a fuel pump in a Honda PCX for instance!!!
