Yes! Russ would love to see more videos on underwater drones. I live full time on my House boat, I am an avid technical diver, learning to be a UA-camr. We are out on the water all the time either at home or on dive trips. My wife is not a technical diver, my daughter is too young to dive currently. However having an underwater drone to be able to better capture footage of my dives, exploring wrecks, reefs, etc. would be amazing! Along with my wife and daughter to be able to see 1st hand some of the dives I am doing at depths they will never achieve. I would love more reviews. Yes they are pricey and I would like to buy a drone that will suit my wants and needs. Purchase the correct one the first time. Thank you!
Awesome..also in Hawaii, but havent seen one of these up close. Geez everyone I know has quite a learning curve operating Lion, LiPo, Hybrid in cold- so what (w/this has LiPo) battery time/life you will be able to get in near freezing temps is going to be super interesting! I hope you are going to be able to check temperature of the water under ice. Thanks for sharing, thanks for video!
I have been interested in how feasible an underwater drone would be, so thank you for clarifying that for me. We have the same water problems in Utah, so I’ll probably not invest in one, but I would love to see winter underwater footage!
This interests me because I enjoy scuba 🤿 diving. You are right, tough to find lakes with good visibility in the area. Spiritwood Lake is probably the best clarity I have personally dove in ND. It would be fun to test this drone on Long Lake by Park Rapids, MN. Thanks for the video.
You could probably connect some high strength fishing line or some other type of line to one of the hooks and use it to pull it back in the event that it jammed up out where you couldn’t reach it. Still has some risk to it though.
Lowrance makes a castable fish finder that's $100 on Cabela's/Bass Pro. The Provision Powerray (underwater) and Powerdolphin (boat) have a fish finder module. They are interesting.
Hey, This drone does not have a lateral thruster to maneuver laterally left and right while maintaining heading or turning left/right. I've flown ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles) operated underwater for over 35 years. The minimum thrusters configuration is 1 x vertical, 1 x lateral and 2 x axial (fwd/rev and rotate cw/ccw) plus a camera tilt up/down.
I would be really interested in how the drone works ice fishing. Being from Minnesota we have a few lakes that this might work good in. I have tried under water cameras before which were ok but think this might be a better option since it can move around. Please let me know if you try it under the ice. I could see this being fun in the ice house.
I am wondering how it will be under the ice... Especially after getting my first drone for Christmas and learning pretty quick that batteries don't like the cold...
I pilot an Outland underwater ROV (remote operated vehicle) for Search and Rescue efforts. The cost of ROVs are not really a benefit of recreational use. It is cheaper and more useful to become a scuba diver to do what the shallow depth drones available do. It takes a team of at least 3 to manage the ROVs we use. If you could review the real ROVs like Outland, it would help SAR teams find the equipment needed.
I found this to be very informative - thanks! These always bring back visions of the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Flying Sub :) Another channel I subscribe to, WWIIHistoryHunter, has started using an underwater drone equipped with a claw to retrieve submerged items, and in his case, several times he's had to haul the drone back in using the tether (thank goodness it's designed for that). I can see the benefits of having the wireless feature with the floating buoy, but also some drawbacks. The wifi antenna could definitely act as a sail if there's some wind. In which case, you may want to have a floating retrieval line attached to the buoy. I envision the tether getting wrapped around some underwater obstacle and stranding the drone. I'm curious about the difference in operations between salt water and fresh water, when it comes to buoyancy. And my last concern is the issue with water and electronics in general; water, especially salt water, and electronics do not play well with each other. I can assume the drone, tether, and buoy have good waterproof connections and bodies. I'm thinking the controller, with touchpads instead of joysticks, may also be designed to be waterproof or water resistant. Of course, as you mentioned, the weak point would then be your phone :(
Very interesting drone, I've looked at some of these in the past, but I just don't know how much use I would get out it. Great review, and I'm sorry you didn't clearer water to film in.
hey russ, my personal preference is flying drones such as Mavic air 2. could you please do a vid comparing mavic air 2 filters such as a quality comparison between polarpro vs freewell sets, variable nd filters and maybe thoughts on polariser lenses.(for example is one build quality better, is there colour tinting) thanks and keep up the good work
Last 2 years I was trying to diy one rov similar to this one. It was a great journey though. I think its quite narrow gadget to have but I am using it for recreational activities in a river. Winter is the best time so not much of fun until you like cold and adventures. I would rather preffer this as a lego kit for learning kids of mechatronics same way like theu do in Internetional ROV chemp.
Nice video! I have a shallow section of a fjord (10x10 km) with lots of history that is just waiting for me to get a drone. I am looking for a underwater drone, but my Mavic Air and goggles has eaten most of my drone budget. They are still too expensive, but I am getting one someday.
Maybe a collaboration with Adventures with Purpose, but most of the water they dive in is murky too. Could you get one with other sensors? Detecting metal/large objects would better than 4k
This might be cool for anglers depending on the depth it can go & if you can tether a fishing line to it Incase you have any problems , get ahold of a big strong surf pole & string it with 500 lbs deep sea line then you could see where the fish are , if there on rock or down deep or where all the big ones are or even have it drop a bait near a big one kinda cheat at fishing .
For me i like to see the underwater. The sad thing is i couldnt use one even if it was given to me. Not any water here that would be clear enough or moving slow enough to let this work. Once in awhile videos like this would be a fun change to watch tho i think for sure
Hey, Im new to the drone hobby and I am having a difficult time trying to figure out what I need to do to legally fly a drone. I went to the FAA website and it says something about an aeronautical test being in the works but when I go to get an identification number for my drone it says that I have the complete said test which apparently doesn't exist yet. What in the world do I do form here?
I was born and raised and stilllive in SE Fla. so I grew up in the ocean on weekends and summers. I use to snorkle.I personally would have no interest in a submersible. But please dont accept my word as that of your typical follower. 8-)
Think they could be great if one lived near the seaside and have interesting things to film underwater. And like flying drones, good weather conditions will make those nice videos. Pity they cannot make them cordless. Maybe in time.
holaaa muy buen video desearía que prosigan haciendo material de calidad!!! Voy a seguir mirando sus creaciones. Les mando un abrazo nos vemos luego 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
If it was cordless, I would love it. I don't love it with the cord. THAT gets wrapped around things REAL quickly. Just grab a waterproof action cam or camera and go get your shots.
put the brightest led 40 000 lumen or high torch on it !! how deep can these drones go as i need to find the bottom or close to the bottom of the sea at 5 atm 6 atm 7 atm or more ???? at what pressure do they collapse 30 meters 40 meters 60 meters 80 meters ???
Not impressed ... However .... I do like the " Swellpro Spry + " .... The idea of having something I can fly during the rainy season appeals to me The Spry+ has 20 min flight time & not very impressive distance, for the money but, I will be watching for the next iteration & if those two variables are improved then, SIGN ME UP
if a camera dosent see much ?? then a 4 small dive oxygen bottles together with a strong metal detector placed on the bottom able to with stand 60 to 80 to 100 200 meters depths ??? for cannons anchors and other metals brass to iron to be found by metal detection sweeping the floors of possible areas of wrecks unknown ???
This drone would be useless where I live, the gulf coast of Texas where the water has the visibility of mud, 👎, but informative review. They need screens where the propellers are, but you still have debris such as grass etc., that may get tangled. If I lived in Hawaii, Florida or Paciific Coast, I would consider.
I will stick to the drones that fly very good information though to pricey for my taste I'm thinking about getting another drone to scare off Canada geese from my property
Spark would be a great option cause it is loud, cheap and durable cause if the geese hit into it and it falls to the ground it wont really suffer from a lot of damage depending in the surface and how high you were 😃😃
cool idea, but like you said, you live around water that is dirty this is not going to work for you... I too would want to get one, but for what, I LIVE IN NEVADA... not much water.
Actually what you would see is a spot of the bottom with radius of visibility equal to transperacy of that water. Best time is winter. So crawling under the bottom floor is the only option in common rivers unfortunately. But you may checkout yourself in some of my latest best of luck trials
First I need to state the obvious and that is it is not a drone. It is more like a submarine with a camera and that remote is just stupid. Sorry but waste of money as I can see but great video as always!
Not really interested, seems like something i would be into for the first couple days and then never think about again.. underwater is very very boring unless your in very exotic thriving locations. And its just way too many problems and all murky water
@@51Drones all in all i think i have more fun when using my 500meter fishing camera on the wire that only cost $80... Maybe if i lived in Hawaii it would be nice
Not one of your finest reviews. Actually I lost interest listening to you in this video. You repeat yourself over and over, sorry Russ, but you rambled a lot. Found this video boring. Also before saying things example; (500 meters 50 meters, etc )be precise. Not one of your better reviews. Sorry for being brutally honest. If you aren’t sure what you are saying. Then take the time to educate what you are saying first. Not sure is not a review. I got the impression you rushed to put this video together without much thought about what you were going to say or how you were going to present the item. It's not all about click bait and views.
Very interesting and fun hope you make more underwater Drone content because your content is really good, good job Russ!
Thanks Russ really appreciate your time and your hard work
Yes, absolutely. I'm definitely interested in an underwater drone. Thanks in advance.
Russ, Interesting subject! YES, more content, please.

Fantastic test, fantastic info and a fantastic Video, really like that underwater drone 😁 big thumbs up 👍
Get some winter footage with this drone it looks pretty cool
Thank you for the review

It's a whole new or a different world under the water and it would be very interesting to see what lays beneath in the 'underworld'......
I have been interested in how feasible an underwater drone would be, so thank you for clarifying that for me. We have the same water problems in Utah, so I’ll probably not invest in one, but I would love to see winter underwater footage!

Love to see the under ice pictures !
This might be helpful to anyone looking to get one. Interesting to watch. 👍

the lack of joysticks is a no for me. But I am interested in seeing more underwater drone reviews and footage.

Very interesting and cool

Russ, come to WI for sturgeon spearing in Feb!
I definitely want to see the ice fishing videos it might take.
Thanks for all of your great vids man! Hey i wanted to ask you a question, wrestling or bjj, which do you train or used to train? 👍
Good video Russ. I think you would be better staying with flying.
I say yes please, it's still new tech and I might want in before it's over regulated...

I have been interested in underwater drones for awhile. We winter in Florida.
Will it work in the COLD water this Winter???
Good question!
Funny because I’ve been wondering if there was a such thing as an underwater drone. Now I know! You have my vote for more content on them!
Thanks for sharing , but I don't want one , can't wait to see your Hero 9 review, bet you have one already !

I live at Lake Tahoe, one of the clearest lakes in the world. Even so, not sure it would ever be more than a novelty.
Maybe they will wise up and install some fencing around the props to keep out rocks etc
Yes more under water drone stuff

The test that you currently have to take is not the future one. The one they are referring to is just a few basic questions

Yes more!
I would love to see more of that drone in clearer water. How deep can it dive?
So if I get into this hobby will amazon take away our waterways also ?
Do you think this could work in ice fishing conditions?
But Russ, this is perfect for us pilots who have always had the dream of recreating the first 10 minutes of the movie Titanic 🤓
Think they could be great if one lived near the seaside and have interesting things to film underwater. And like flying drones, good weather conditions will make those nice videos. Pity they cannot make them cordless. Maybe in time.

Yes more
I'll stick to the air, thanks

A underwater drone good for searching drowned drones in lake or sea...
Very cool but same here. Too much murky water.
No thanks Russ. Stick to the flying type please
Agree.
Not useful here in Iowa in natural bodies of water.
If you go to 10:17 and look at the darkest brown, that would fill the screen....lol
I have one and i HATE the cheap remote.. they need a better controller and app needs to come out of beta
You are going to need to make a big hole to get that thing under the ice!
well if are gonna go fishing why not

Wtf take that thing to the river or the ocean, do some exploring!

James Williams Not rushed. 2 fucking months to prepare. Thanks for the honesty, but not every video is going to be the same.
I think you mean submarine.
Stick with the air drones. Unless you can show them with decent imagery, it is a wast of time.
Shut up and let him do what he wants
