We adopted a kitten the summer my husband passed away to help my son with his grief. At the time, all I knew about her was her mama was feral. They captured the mom and kittens. The mom was kept long enough to mother her babies and be spayed. Then she was freed as she was very stressed and unhappy. The kittens were put up for adoption. 2.5 years later, I am pretty sure our girl, Tara, is half MainCoone and half house cat. She makes all the vocalizations of MainCoones, behaves more like a dog, and is the most intelligent cat I’ve ever owned. I injured my elbow and my shoulder in July. Tara knew I was hurt and cuddled with me like a dog would, even putting her paws gently on the area of my elbow that was injured. W believe she knew it was hurt and was trying to give me healing energy. After surgery, she was even more gentle and never once walked across or on my incision. I know animals are far more intelligent than some people give them credit for, but this cat amazes me with her intuition. We just adore her!
