I stayed in the Aria Sky Suites the first week they were open, during a promotional rate. I loved the rooms, and the electronic controls for the drapes and lighting made it feel like a very high tech option for Vegas.

Thank you for this Sebby! I have a friend who is going through a rough divorce and I’m really thinking a trip to Vegas and a splurge on one night in a suite will be JUST what the doctor ordered! So your reviews of the FHR in Vegas is so helpful! I might have to talk her into getting an Amex Platinum now so that she can get the intro bonus and we can get 2 nights in the suites!!
I also went to DTF last December and thought for Vegas the prices weren’t that bad, but definitely not cheap.
Looks absolutely beautiful! It's probably a combination of both good natural lighting and your videography skills, but the place looks really, really cool! Bathroom's slightly trippy XD

I spent 2 weeks in Sky Suites corner suite. The first week I was by myself so I didn't care too much for it. It felt like no one else was on my floor and quite eerie. The 2nd week my gf arrived and we had pre parties and after parties there with friends. We would start with complimentary wine from the lounge and make our way up to the suite. Since they ended complementary liquor at the lounge, we stocked up from CVS next door. We use their complementary limo service over club XS and back. It's good for group setting but not for single guest.
Love this room. Definitely gonna try to use it this year. Last year I forgot to use them 😂
Thanks for these! You keep coming through in the clutch since I'm going to Vegas in April! Any other high end properties you would recommend? Any other way to book besides FHR if you don't have the Platinum?
(on 2nd account but) I think Resorts World is struggling with getting people in the door. Conrad and Crockfords -- especially the latter -- feel REALLY cheap for some nights.
Crockfords is probably my favorite new hotel, especially given the amazing service.

I’m definitely a fan of experiencing different Vegas hotels. I feel that going over the top is worth it for having an added experience. I’m sure to get outside value on weekday stays here. Oddly, I do judge places heavily on the amenities and free snacks they provide.
I booked a Sky Suite for next week... I'll come back and let you know... I'm so looking forward to it!
We'll be dropping the Platinum Card in May, but I'm tempted to use the credit. In February we're staying at Elara, for a timeshare presentation with Hilton, otherwise I would use it then.

(on alt account) You should be able to make a booking for the future (post-May) => triggers credit. I would only book something you're reasonably confident you would stay at though.
Wouldn't want to risk clawback/popup jail.

I got to stay in one of the SkySuites as a result of a favor from a friend on my 40th Birthday. Not only was the room thoroughly impressive, but Aria does a good job with the dedicated check-in and lounge area of making you feel like a VIP. 10/10 would stay again if I can pull it off.
(on my alt account) YES! We actually went to the main check-in desk and they were very confused -- didn't know about the VIP / "secret" back area until this trip :)
Stayed in the sky suites twice before, my favorite is the one bedroom penthouse with the Panoramic view. Love the marble white decor, floor to ceiling windows, jetted tub, etc. Now that they have renovated them, I would love to stay again.

Thank you for your overview. While I appreciate the room tour and the breakdown of costs vs. rewards, something I haven't seen on any channels is talking about the services received at each hotel. (ie: we called the concierge and immediately got into XYZ restaurant / called and got a same-day booking for a show / we used in-house limo service to get from A to B and this is how it went) I know it can be tough getting an accurate gauge of this because you're known UA-camrs, however in my experience the service of a hotel/restaurant many times makes/breaks the experience. Thanks.
Upgrade trick for The Ritz Carlton and probably any other hotel, Tip a $100 at check in, while providing asked for ID and ask for the upgrade. It has worked over 4 times at Ritz properties for me from standard guestrooms to suites on high floors with stunning views. When you calculate how much more the suite would be per night it is well well worth the $100.00
I'm not a Vegas nerd, but I recently booked the base room at Aria through Chase portal using MR and was upgraded to a Sky Suite at check in. Does this sort of thing happen? It was on a Tuesday for a two night stay.

You should do your initial room tour video when you check in so that things aren't so messy. :) That way you can start from the entry door too, rather than having the entry be mid-way during the tour.

When you book the hotel room do you have to ask for the upgrade at the desk check in or do they do it automatically when booking with the amex plat?
you book the room you want on the web, and upgrades happen at the time of check-in. in my experience, you usually hear the typical standard response "we are so sorry, you are a very valuable guest, but no suites are available for upgrade, we are completely sold out". i am pretty sure staff are taught to say that as a standard procedure.
I went to the aria in March of this year (2022) definitely one of my favorite hotels in Vegas. I'm not a baller like Sebby so I just used comp night for my pearl mlife card. Went to din ti fung and they were awsome dim sum

I had the minibar sensor get triggered for everything at the 1 bedroom penthouse sky suites.
And when doing late check out at 4 they made me pay for the whole thing and refused to check in room even though receipt stated everything was grabbed at the same minute and second.

Must be separate. But what I would do if it were me, is I’d let them know of the two reservations when you first check in. They may be able to let you stay in the same room so you don’t have to move your stuff. But this is definitely a good idea if you have a player 2!

[alt account Sebby] Has to be separate bookings, sadly. We usually book cheaper properties and move rooms. You probably could let the front desk know and they'll keep you in the same room, but we generally don't want to risk not getting the credits (main value prop).
Reminder that you have early check-in (12pm) + late checkout (4pm) so moving rooms is just an elevator ride in the afternoon :)

Might be a nice splurge hotel, but I think the Conrad or some other property in Las Vegas looks good enough. The Aria Sky Suites does look like a nice work hotel though!
For "reasonable" Vegas FHR properties, Crockfords is our favorite!
So which was better, this or the MGM Sky loft?
MGM Skyloft feels like a more exclusive experience w/ access to The Mansion. If you don't care about that, Aria is more convenient since it's centrally located near more dining options + shopping.
FYI the FHR fees are like ~$70-100
