Kacey Musgraves is great when you don’t gotta a melon with glasses telling you it’s generic in your ear…
It’s kind of interesting coming in to Deeper Well with an interpretation of star-crossed as her “divorced and chronically online” album. The themes of connecting with nature, stopping smoking weed, and maturing is a great step for her artistically. Huge fan of the singles, but some genuinely good deep cuts (Anime Eyes is my fav). I know people lament her move to more “pop” centric country. But I feel like her easy-going nature provides me a level of comfort other country singers don’t offer. It’s like being covered by a warm blanket on a windy day looking out at the dancing trees when I listen to her music. Still think Golden Hour is my fav of hers, but this is a welcome effort from her!

the interpolation she does of Kody Blu 31 by JID on this album was a really beautiful take on the melody it was so cool to hear
