Jacob is a genius, that much is clear, but what needs to be said is regardless of his truly remarkable talent he never uses it to be arrogant (though he absolutely has the right to be). Jacob is a truly perfect musician, Unafraid to explore the boundaries of music, unafraid to say what if, and unafraid to wear his inspirations on his sleeve while being wholly and completely his own.
The guy is absolutely awesome. When I listen to him, I feel energized and grounded. This song gets me to my core. The video of the drums does not correspond to the audio.
the song sounds like heartbreak feels. it comes in waves and just swallows you this song came out like a month after covid got my dad, and bro i bawled my eyes out. lyrics only sorta fit but the way this song swells and wanes just. goddamn. what a fuckin genius
man, i'm so sorry to hear that. it's so crazy how musicians like this guy are able to bring us into the same emotional space where we're able to share stuff like this, and have it be genuine- from the heart- from the perspective of both poster and commenter. wish i could give you a hug bro, but in lieu of that i'll just say I'm proud of you for hanging in there. I can't imagine how much pain you must be feeling, I genuinely wish you the best and that you find a sense of contentedness again.
This is definitely it. Heartbreak comes in many forms, most not romantic. During COVID but not due to it a brother of mine passed away. He wasn't biological, but meant everything to me. He was a best friend and this song makes your heart envelope itself in both beauty and incredible sadness I wish the best for you during this difficult time. grief never is the way one expects it to be, and i find peace knowing he's in a better place.
@@kbee8517 he for sure is, man. if anything just because he’s not trapped here with the rest of us on this sinking ship, haha. i wonder how many previous generations thought that the world was gonna go tits up in their lifetime, and how our experience fits in with theirs. either way I appreciate your comment, man. They say blood is thicker than water but we both know that ain’t true. I appreciate you keeping it real.
Thank you for "isolating" this part of the concert. I loved the whole thing, but for me, this was the "moment." I love this version of this absolutely spellbinding song...
The way the song goes from one about her to about him and his feelings about loss. Going from “he won’t hold you” to “I won’t be alright”. Showing this has nothing to do with her choices, but everything to do with how he’s trying to cope with this event. Going from blame to self-reflection and then to self-healing. It’s a great change from the standard brake up song that’s often all about the other person, where as this is about self and coping
It’s the opposite for me.. this one’s more powerful and has more feeling for me. Although the one with Rapsody is a different type of despair, I feel. And yes, it’s great to have the option between the two. :)
i cant stop lisening to this it's so infectus and powerful. omg if I was going through a brake-up and I heard this song it would destroy me, sending me into uncontrollable tears
Lyrics: He won't hold you Like I do He won't bring out The love in you I been feeling down and out lately (Like I do) Baby, since you left me (He won't hold you) Been so long since your body held me (Like I do) Won't you come and save me? I never was misunderstood baby (Like I do) Since the day you met me (He won't hold you) But now I'm lost, I'm on my own, I feel so lonely (Like I do) Won't you resurrect me? And all across From all around The people make A people sound They dance along The avenue Of what I thought I knew And all across From all around The people make A people sound They dance along The avenue Of what I am to you I won't Be alright I would Be alright I won't Be alright I would Be alright And all across From all around The people make A people sound They dance along The avenue Of what I thought I knew And all across From all around The people make A people sound They dance along The avenue Of what I am to you I won't Be alright I would Be alright I won't Be alright I would Be alright
I know I’m a year late but… this is Jacob Collier, world renowned musical genius, winner of the four Grammys you can see on top of the keyboard here. Check him out if you haven’t already, he truly is a gift to this world.
Me: What is the instrument (on the left) behind your back? Is this like piano-trumpet hybrid? How does it sound? Jacob: Oh, It's just my four grammys ;-)
The band is Jacob Collier. The people in the band are: Jacob Collier, Jacob Collier, Jacob Collier and Jacob Collier. The one to the left is playing an instrument called “Jacob Collier”, the one in the middle is playing another instrument, funnily enough, called “Jacob Collier”. The one on the right is playing another instrument called (who would’ve guessed it),”Jacob Collier” and the one at the back is playing “Auxiliary Jacob Collier”.

Well said
shows us what is possible
An arrogant person would never be as good as he is
I completely agree, although he’s low key flexing with 4 grammies in the center of the shot lol
The guy is absolutely awesome. When I listen to him, I feel energized and grounded. This song gets me to my core. The video of the drums does not correspond to the audio.
I like the original version, but... this one is just...
Could you tell me who the original is by? Can't seem to find it
Sam Hargrave Jacob. He meant the original version of his song.

I feel like Rapsody's part makes the song more POWERFUL but not necessarily better musically. It's nice to have the option between the two like this
It’s the opposite for me.. this one’s more powerful and has more feeling for me. Although the one with Rapsody is a different type of despair, I feel.
And yes, it’s great to have the option between the two. :)
Excellent panning. I can feel the presence of the different Jacobs in the room
Stunning, it's like a hymn. Definitely better than the version with Rapsody
See the four Grammy’s if you watch for two years you’ll see them double.

How lucky we are, for real. To have access to such beautiful material.
How does his music do this to me? I just... Ugh 😌😌😌
This my favorite performance of him. Goosebumps all the way!! Hes a gift for us musicians (and non-musicians ofc) 😭😂
This is the barber shop, Black Church quartet, R and B nicely done.
Gosh darn Jacob making me tear up with this song. I almost never get emotional listening to music. Who gave him permission to write this song
can't get over how big jacob's hands look on the piano!
The album is great in its own right, but these versions are so brilliant. This one in particular hits me different in those feels. Beautifully done.

His left foot is far too long to be a human. Or, it's a camera artifact, can't be certain.
The seeming length of his left foot is affected by the camera lens.
His neck, however, is inhumanly long, but it lets him sing like this.
